Helicopter water dump on caontained fuel rods a absolute nightmare situation

I was watching a ucleaar plant preofessional i dont remember the name im sureit isnt secret info however the reason i am posting this is the staement was in regards to the rod storage and the clearance betwee them. If the rods are puashed together by the water volume and velocity it in self will cause a meltdown further pushing the whole plant into an uncotrolable death spiral i will do further research but i have seen again today this plan has now been put into motion wich leads me to think or conclude that the situation has now deteriarated into one of total last ditch efforts . i myself am curious how the new spin will be on this action wich has been stated by the US gov is in motion .

A nuclear reactor operates just below critical mass so that each radioactive decay in its fuel rods induces a large but finite number of subsequent fissions. Since each chain reaction gradually weakens away to nothing, there is no danger that the fuel will explode. But operating just below critical mass is a tricky business and it involves careful control of the environment around the nuclear fuel rods. The operators use neutron absorbing control rods to dampen the chain reactions and keep the fuel just below critical mass.

Fortunately, there are several effects that make controlled operation of a reactor relatively easy. Most importantly, some of the neutrons involved in the chain reactions are delayed because they come from radioactive decay processes. These delayed neutrons slow the reactor's response to changes—the chain reactions take time to grow stronger and they take time to grow weaker. As a result, it's possible for a reactor to exceed critical mass briefly without experiencing the exponentially growing chain reactions that we associate with nuclear explosions. In fact, the only nuclear reactor that ever experienced these exponentially growing chain reactions was Chernobyl. That flawed and mishandled reactor went so far into the super-critical regime that even the neutron delaying effects couldn't prevent exponential chain reactions from occurring. The reactor superheated and ripped itself apart.

I heard of the "helicopters cooling down reactor", and it did really sound desperate, but thay have changed their minds and are now using firetrucks..

Im getting mixed reports, one newstation is saying radiation is up, and others saying that its low.
And im honestly worryed that im getting mixed info, this is never good..
I have reason to bealive that this wont end well.

This has been reported in Norway as well: Our scientists wonder what they want to achieve by using Helli's.

They also added if they are doing this they have lost control and are desperate and out of other options.

Not sure how reliable the 'chatter' is, but I've heard from various sites American UAVs may be used to gauge what's going on in the core of these reactors via IR Feed.

I've read they were taking infrared scans by unmanned vehicles to check the heath signature and stuff. I also think they are smart enough to don't make it any worse than it is right now.
But isn't an option to dump loads of cement, concrete, lead and cooling liquid on it?

The helicopters were the last attempt to try and fill the containment ponds on #4, too much radiation. They had no way of knowing if the vessel had been compromised or was just boiling off.

How filling the containment building with small lead balls, the balls would melt and flow around the exposed rods, isolating them from one another. The liquid lead would create a total barrier that would contain the radiation and create a safer enviroment to cool the barrier. Just a thought.

They must be really desperate if they are resorting to this method now.

I really think this is going to be worse than the Ukraine Nuclear Plant Disaster.

Every day we are getting reports on how worse this is becomming.

What is more surprising is that the Japanease Governement Knews there Nuclear Facilities were unsafe.

But thats another topic of discussion.

How long can those in those fire trucks last near that site last, without being hight contaminated with Radiation.

At this point the Japanese government is considering sealing the reactors via concrete dumps from military aricraft. Let's hope it works!

That is a last fase, just like in cernobyl, they should of done this a long time ago.
If they are doing this then it's uncotroled meltdown and they lost control over all the reactors.

They lied before, so what makes you think they are not lying again.

Resorting to these desperate measures, makes me to assume there is no win win situation in this.

they seem to be running out of options is part of my op, but this was a very clear statement that the fuel rods could be pushed closer then there already minimal clearances causing actual fission. which means something worse then Chernobyl kind of odd how safety has backfired ?

This is a absolute joke, where are all the people saying the reactors were still intact they obviously must be open to the air or otherwise dumping water from a helicopter would be completely useless and if they are open to the air for afew days wich people on this forum and the news were saying isnt so, dumping a sprinkle of water on it it is a futile effort. Now im hearing the u.s specialists are on the ground, yaa good one maybe they can help with the cover up like in 3mile thats what the u.s specialize in

yep sorry about that but this hole thing is making me angry and the fact they are covering things up and a drip feeding the information to us is makeing it worse i have afew Japanese friends who are worried about their family and who are cursing the japan government right now. seems like the monetary and economic concerns are right above the concerns for peoples lives.
