The following is is like google earth, only much higher resolution, although only a small amount of the globe is covered.
www.nearmap.com...
search for one of Australia's recent flood areas like Wagga Wagga and zoom in.

There is know-where to hide

That was awesome! You wonder if they have a satellite that shows this much detail, just think what the military has! Thanks for posting.

This is far better and quicker than google maps - don't tell everyone

Wow!
Look at all that cloudy flood water
comming from the river.

It has totally overspilled the banks.

Man, many of the farms I see have water up to the front door.

Let's zoom in on those condo's in the middle bottom,
and see how detailed this gets.

About ten meters in front of that car in the picture above
there is a boat in his neighbors' back yard,
though he probably can't see it
cause of the fence.

Wow absolutely amazing though its a pity they have such a small part of the globe covered

However I wonder what this is going to do for privacy and let say for instance people tanning topless / naked in thier back yards

i just found this quote from NearMap

[2] Subject to weather and air traffic control (ATC). We may also fly more often (e.g. special events, or after big fires)

does this mean it's not from a satillite it's from a plane

I live in Wagga Wagga.

I can clearly make out my car at work (and can see what caused the roof leak) and im glad that I had mowed the lawn at home

The quality is excellent. I've never seen the flood in this sort of quality before.

I think it probably is. As is Google Earth (more distant images are satellite, but close ups are from aircraft)

I would love to check out the equipment they use, and know when the exact time they fly over

Yes, that's exactly what it means, and that's why it only covers Australia. The site does acknowledge that it uses NASA LandSat imagery for its more distant views. We will certainly be seeing more of this on ATS, as the map is a Wiki, allowing all manner of tampering and hoaxes.
