I could be off the mark here, but I think the world leader's are grasping at straws. I don't think any of them have any idea what the heck is going on and they are just hoping for their own best interests. Even Tunisia has not fallen into a state of religious radicalism, they are planning elections within the next few months.

Of the names being floated around none are uber religious. Of course I have seen the Muslim Brotherhood being feared by the west, but I haven't seen any actual evidence of their success.

Exactly, and the UK was right in the mix with us....
Operation AJAX....?

The 1953 Iranian coup d'état, on August 19, 1953 (known as the 28 Mordad coup[1] in Iran), was the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh orchestrated by the intelligence agencies of the United Kingdom and the United States

I wouldn't be surprised if one totalitarian pro-American arse is replaced with another.

Like at Downing street?

The Egyptian revolution is now officially suspect.

Why?
Because you read it on a conspiracy site.

The difference between you and I is I haven't been indoctrinated into a false sense of patriosm.

You're right in both your statements. Britain is a Plutocracy and we have an overwhelming history of imperialism and meddling in foreign affairs for our own benefit.

And no, I didn't read it on a conspiracy site. It's suspect based on historical American actions and current foreign policy and national interests.

Some of us can see truth without being clouded by nationalist garbage. Cheers.

I just hate it when we get all the blame? What about France? And what about pretty much every government on the face of the planet with these very same intentions who participate behind the scenes or just sit back and watch in their predatory fashion or both? No one is blameless here. Not even Switzerland

Jeeze. Take your blinkers off, please. This thread is about 'America's secret backing of rebel leaders behind uprising'. If it was about Frances secret backing then the French government, their history and agenda would be discussed. The thread isn't about that, so it's not being discussed.

OR, it wasn't, until indoctrinated American patriots caught offense without reason.

I agree there is a lot of confusion,

And we have a world leader that may not know where his loyalties lie, a man abandoned by his father, and mother,

Is he Muslim? Christian? Atheist? Communist? Socialist, Confused? I could go on yada yada, I don't have to paint you a picture.

Perfect man for the role

BTW, Obama Administration lifted the ban on Muslim Brotherhood leader Tariq Ramadan earlier this week.

I usually disagree with American operations but if this is true.. I can't really wrap my head around it.

It seems like a good idea - but if the American gov. truly is behind it then most likely they already have someone chosen to take his place. Someone that will allow the US to harvest their natural resources and install more military bases.

Nice assumption.
I'm about one of the biggest critics of my Government as you'll find however people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.

So justifying UK actions as being for their benefit and slamming the US when it come to doing the same is hypocrisy IMO.

www.analyst-network.com...

If you noticed the secret document named the Muslim Brotherhood.

Embracing of Shariah?

President Obama on Friday reiterated for the umpteenth time his determination to develop a “new relationship” with the Muslim world. On this occasion, the audience were the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Unfortunately, it increasingly appears that, in so doing, he will be embracing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood - an organization dedicated to promoting the theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam calls Shariah and that has the self-described mission of “destroying Western civilization from within.”

As part of Mr. Obama’s “Respect Islam” campaign, he will travel to Turkey in early April. While there, he will not only pay tribute to an Islamist government that has systematically wrested every institution from the secular tradition of Kemal Ataturk and put the country squarely on the path to Islamification. He will also participate in something called the “Alliance of Civilizations.”

“Alliance of Civilizations.”

Let me ask you, who is the author of confusion?

Remember Spain?

No actual comment on the comment? What about France? And the other governments who have participated in if not outright executed on their own or even invented the kinds of activities being discussed here?

In addition, speaking of staying on topic, what does the religion of this person or country have to do with anything at all? That's really a matter for the person and the country to decide, isn't it?

What exactly does that mean, "the reformation in Islam" that you've been hoping for?

This overthrow has zero to do with religion and the only way it will is IF a religious takes control and attempts to impose a theocracy. The people are happy with a secular government they want less corruption, a better economy, and a parliamentary system.

Are you aware that they aren't going to convert just because they will elect a new president?

I didnt say ANYTHING about freakin conversion.

I am talking about how the muzlims came to front an center for the christians the other day. they way they are telling the muslim brotherhood to get stuffed!

If they can be the fuse to start something good, it'll be great!

I dont give a rats ass if someone is christian. just dont try to ax me because i'm not a muzzie!

That truly saddens me, I thought the Egyptians were much more nationalistic and had too much historical pride to do that. I'm all for ousting corrupt leaders but don't destroy your priceless history. There is also the remote possibility that someone is using the situation to get their hands on the artifacts for the black market though, I seriously doubt it but I'll throw it out there.

The main museum is being protected, and people are helping the military :

[Update 10:47 p.m. Cairo, 3:47 p.m. ET] - CNN's Ben Wedeman (#bencnn) sent these tweets within the past 20 minutes:

* Neighborhood protection groups wearing white armbands in Cairo. People getting organised to end chaos and looting.
* NDP source says Omar Sulaiman VP appointment should be seen as first step for transfer of power.

[Update 12:53 a.m. Cairo, 5:53 p.m. ET] - In front of military tanks, people have gathered arm in arm outside the Egyptian Museum, protecting the famed building from looters.

[Update 1:16 a.m. Cairo, 6:16 p.m. ET] - CNN's Ben Wedeman (#bencnn) tweeted that angry crowds dragged two looters to soldiers. The army is in control of the Egyptian Museum.
