"Just don't fly" Your mother is in the hospital dying and you may not have time to see her befor...but don't fly...
Your daughter and son-inlaw have just been in a car wreck and there is no one to look after the kids. Just take the bus...right..sometimes it is not really just a foo foo choice to fly. Some times, you need to be somewhere fast. And it would be nice ..NO..IT IS OUR RIGHT AS PEOPLE to be able to get thru it without being humiliated and molested.

I wonder how many people who have whined in this thread have actually been molested by one of the "screeners". It's just freaking ridiculous to think these people would actually be able to get away with trying to physically and sexually molesting you. What are they going to do, grab your breasts? Get a great feel on them? No, they have cameras that watch everything. Is some woman going to pull down the pants of some guy?

Maybe these people don't want to even touch you, but they don't have any other way of getting food on the table. Think the government wants to humiliate its own people just for kicks? Take our liberty away for kicks? Those planes are expensive, and have many lives on them.

The only thing I have a problem with the screening is the x-ray. We can replace x-ray, or should be able to.

There is a reason for backlash and apparently the scanners are not the only offense!
From today's article online: Here

Examples:

Some pilots, male and female, have complained the pat downs make them feel uncomfortable. The group urged any pilot who feels unfit for duty afterward to "call in sick and remove themselves from the trip." advertisement | ad info Advertisement | ad info Advertisement | ad info That has prompted urgent talks between the pilots' group and TSA Administrator John Pistole. The two sides hope to resolve the matter in a few weeks, Prater said.

"We have received hundreds of e-mails and phone calls from travelers vowing to stop flying," said Geoff Freeman, an executive vice president of the U.S. Travel Association, which set up the meeting with the Obama administration officials.

and apparently children's genitals are not off limits:

The father said the officer described the procedure before conducting it. Then he patted down the boy in the open security area, using the backside of his hands to check his genital area, he said. "I didn't think it was going to be as horrible as he was describing," said the boy's father

It seems it's not an offense, but paranoia. Oh my god, he touched a little kid's private area! Even though we don't have reports of the guy enjoying it! Getting patted down to make sure we do have safe airlines, that's not an invasion of my privacy. That person doesn't know who I am, or my secrets. They probably don't want to, anyway. They aren't getting my social security or card information. It's not you're home at all, so how can you be completely private in public places? They certainly don't have mind-infiltrating devices to read your thoughts!

These people are just being too much of a wimp. They should be glad they don't get patted down in their own home.

It happened, therefore - not paranoia. If someone finds it offensive, than it is.

BTW - enough people are causing enough of a concern during the holiday season vowing not to fly (revenue is threatened) therefore there will be meetings to discuss the issue and possible revision of policy (according to the article) so how is this NOT about business? Don't fool yourself, making it about "safety" is just fluff...

I do not understand people like you. Are you so defeated and brainwashed that you think that if the government agent says it is ok then it is just fine and we must do it? They work for us or at least that is the premise for their existence so we have a say in what they do unless you just blindly like to obey your betters when they tell you what's what. Really who is the wimp in this situation, the person who accepts this is necessary or the person who questions authority and says enough is enough? Try to think for yourself and not just succumb to the group think.

I totally agree that these pat downs and naked body scanners and are unconstitutional but this is honestly not the way to go about doing this. Raise a stink in the security line. Opt out and look the guy giving you a pat down in the eye and ask him how he feels about it. show them that you are afraid. The problem with this is that you are hurting and industry that all ready is in deep deep trouble. A lot of these pilots are patriots and ex-military men. My father being one of them. He and alot of these pilots are oathkeepers and they see what is happening and have agreements in their unions to opt out. They know this is hurting their business. British Airways is speaking out and many other foreign carriers are as well. The reason that you have not heard anything from the national carriers is that they are, as of right now, not in any place to be making demands of our government. Many are going through bankruptcy and are cripled by our government and are wtaching the foreign carriers move in and take their flights. We're making an impact now, but a national opt out day would hurt our own carriers more than you would think. The profit margins on most full flights is only 200 dollars. Please think of our own workers. You can say that I am biased in this due to my father being a part of this industry and you a probably right. But being on the inside I can tell you guys that these guys are being screwed over by many of the same economic policies that are hurting us. Punish the government not the workers.

What makes you think that they are against the constitution? No one is forced to be patted down, or scanned, you can just refuse, thus they are not unconstitutional

It is plain to me that you are not old enough to remember the way airports used to be. A little here, a little there and after a while we become dehumanized entirely. The reason we are upset is because we can see big government getting bigger and more monstrous all the time. Instead of correcting our bad foreign policies we treat symptoms which hurt the dignity of citizens. When you get older you might understand.

It is TSA stupidity that irritates.

1. Harassing passengers with a machine that cannot detect explosives up one's ass or in a vagina.
2. Getting patted down does not reveal explosives in an ass or vagina.
3. Plane service employees are exempt??? Guys that fuel and service planes are exempt????
4. Airline pilots do not need any of this because, since they drive the airplanes, they could crash the damn things if they wanted to. They don't need a #ing pocket knife for that.
5. Knowing, as we do, of the company making these machines arguing "security and safety" when none of that is true. An X-ray is an X-ray.
6. Lastly is knowing that TSA personnel are plainly borderline functional people who otherwise would be maybe working as clerks at a convenience store. Have these in authority pisses me off.
7. Israeli security have gone on record as saying the machines are useless. They are ignored because the machine people want to sell machines not because they are any good. This pisses me off.

These are complaints that smart and chaff the thinking person. I say # 'em. Refuse to fly, en masse, and watch the airlines "opt out" of the bull#.

Oh, yeah, I follow ya. What I'm saying though, is if you must get on the plane, then you will have to consent to the pat down search. In those cases, I still think we should all start saying something to the TSA screener conducting the pat down which will:

  • Publicly embarrass the screener
  • Create a negative emotional impact on the screener
  • Demoralize the screener

In short, if they want to give us an indignity, let's bounce it right back at them.

For the rest of the people who don't have to get on that particular flight, then BY ALL MEANS, refuse the pat down too.

Ok lets take this to the next level I am outraged by all of the TSA groping and I REFUSE to be patted.. We need to put some fun and embarrasment for the crowd and the TSA..

Remember Meg Ryans "fake" orgasim in Harry Met Sally.... OK follow me here.... Someone with Cojhnes (B**lls) needs to fake sexual pleasure and a lot of groaning will embarras the TSA workers a little bump and grind too! .... Just a thought...

I can see the headlines now " a commuter that fakes orgasm/ejaculation during patdown process is fined and jailed for disturbing the peace" What else can we do but laugh??? We have already lost our powers and legal rights to protest.

Defeated and brainwashed? I understand that the government today we stand for isn't as efficient as it could be, and the type of government we have allows it to be that way. I understand that we need to focus on our people a little more than just the world, which if you realize is a really cruel place. You have no idea who I am, so how can you say I think a certain way, or even the actions I do in my day to day life?

Seriously, why would the government want to take your liberty away by seeing if you have nothing to hide in a public place? That's just stupid, do you think they laugh at people like us in their homes? "Haha, those fools have to get patted down!"

Just because someone can find something offensive, doesn't mean it is. Opinions do not create facts, only opinions. What is fact is that certain people treat their skin as if sound-waves actually hurts them.

What the heck are you talking about sound waves. These machines use X-Rays or Millimeter Waves. The first is an ionizing radiation known to cause cancer. The second is so new of a tech there is little information on them but since they are above the microwave frequency band they are very tiny and likely small enough to disrupt DNA.

Read some of the many articles online that discuss this topic and deny ignorance already:
Body Scanners Increase Risk Of Skin Cancer

Is this the quality of screeners you would trust with your daughter and wife?

A federal screener at Miami International Airport has been arrested for beating up a co-worker.

Rolando Negrin, a TSA screener in Miami, passed through one of the airport's full-body scanners during a training exercise, and one of his co-workers started teasing him about the size of his genitalia.

In the process there would be a several month downturn in airway business resulting in thousands of jobs being lost before policies were changed. That is pretty much a standing fact. I'm not saying you are wrong about the policies needing to be changed, but it's a lose, lose.

It is hard to understand your logic. "Opting Out" is a form of non-violent protest against what is really a violent assault on the traveling public. The "government" treating its own citizens in this manner is totally unacceptable and makes the United States look like it being run by a bunch of goons.

The better question is to ask why it is that those in power seem so eager to destroy the airline industry through the implementation of what is, on the face of it, planned and willful malicious humiliation of the traveling public for the benefit of a goonish agency.

perhaps one can always complain that the pat down was incomplete and request a repeat until satisfied with the result
