WARNNING
This thread is for all those who despise, condemn or otherwise strongly disagree with MSM as a whole particularly FOX, MSN, and CNN etc. If you do find these news agencies reputable then perhaps this isn’t worth wasting your time reading.

Not that it’s that big of a deal, especially to strangers but I would like to point something out that many probably already know.

I think most would agree that MSM, along with the FOX news channels are nothing but megaphones for distributing whatever propaganda is most popular with establishment, Yeah , yeah , yeah…Obvious.
The problem I have is trying to figure out how to wean people I care about off what I consider to be poison.

This has nothing to do with liberal or conservative news agency, but rather the preponderance of bogus information and the way they distribute it to the public.
I personally lean toward conservative views, though I consider myself a libertarian, I guess,… or constitutionalist. Even so, I find it physically impossible to actually sit and watch any news group for very long; however I sure as hell can’t bare FOX for more than a few seconds before huffing and puffing and just generally getting pissed off.

I mean really it’s utterly ridiculous. I don’t know maybe it’s their body language and the constant look of shock they always seem to have on their face as they report that “terrorists” are about to get you. *swallows a little puke*…Uhhg. Or maybe it’s the way they so professionally wallow in whatever talking point the white house gives them to propagate, I cant be sure; but what I do know is that they grind my gears and this brings me to my next issue, My Father.

My Father who happens to have recently opened a face book account, listed the television and books he likes, one of his likes go figure is “FOX NEWS” and a few Glenn Beck books. Now my father is 55 years old and I personally don’t find that to be what some may consider an “Old Dog” one that can’t learn new tricks. In fact my Father has become quite awakened to the corruption of the government as well as the bankers in the last few years from our talks together.

This is great and everything, but often times when we talk over the phone we will be on the same page for a few minutes, but he always reverts to blaming Obama for every woe Americans face.
Now, let me make this clear…I am no Obama fan, and in fact I can’t stand to even look at the guy he makes me sick. I feel the same way when I used to see Bush. But I try to make it clear to him that for all the wrong he’s doing it really isn’t Obama, but those that handle him I guess you could say.

My point is he always puppets FOX news and especially, (much to my frustration),… Glen Beck; who I have heard speak out of both sides of his mouth so much that I honestly think he is a two headed alien in disguise.
I personally, used to be hard core Alex Jones listener and I quickly wised up and started checking things out for myself and looking into more reputable outlets due to his sensationalism and irrational ranting. So I wonder why it is he (My father) can’t also look for some alternative outlet for information.

I mean really, Isn’t it obvious that everything that the news says is utter BS? They lie about everything and are almost always caught. I question him about it occasionally and he would agree that they are bogus and what not, but never the less he puts it as his favorite on face book?
Oh yeah and get this,… he says he keeps the television on FOX for background noise……………Uhm…so yeah, I’m thinking not such a good idea. Subconsciously you’re still listening to that crap.

I’m sure most people here on ATS may have similar issues when it comes to loved ones and their steady diet of MSM which tends to lead them in directions that we feel are potentially harmful. I swear, sometimes I ask myself, doesn’t everyone know that Al Qaeda are a manufactured enemy? Yet he will always go on about their latest exploits failing to understand who the real terrorists are, which IMO are the CIA and other various agencies.

I have tried to embed that idea in his head before and he registers that among other things but it never seems to stay. I also hate when he tries to pass the latest Glen beck book to me. I consider myself lucky that he doesn’t take Sean Hanity or Bill O’rielly serious. However the fact that he can even bear hearing them speak is miraculous to me.

So I was wondering how others have managed to handle similar situations with friends and family. Those of us who know someone who honestly knows something is wrong in the world, yet can’t step away from the talking blond bimbos with overly glossed lips or the smart ass, fast talking gents with their $2000 Brioni suit and million dollar a year smirk. Man I’m pissed!

Share with me ATS, I need to vent!

I can not stand it when any "news" station is talking about celebrities ( lohan, spears, etc), and they have a so called "expert" to tell us why they all act like stupid spoiled whores. I'm in the bay area and I've noticed that the news usually consists of whatever was in the newspaper that day. On KPIX ch5 they do one section called "got a good question?" that's actually informative and enjoyable.

I just wish there was some way to break that trance like state that holds people so tightly when speaking of the news.
It is I believe an addiction, people inherently know it is bad for them yet they willingly do it anyway, you get them away from it for a day and they start jonsing so bad that they nearly convulse.

I read your words, and feel as you do. In this, you are not alone. It seems that your father is at least partially aware of the shenanigans being perpetrated upon us all through the media, but as of yet hasn't taken that crucial step towards the light at the mouth of the cave. Are you, or more importantly him, familiar with Plato's Allegory of the Cave? It's a very simple story on it's face, but it's the deepest and most insightful lesson about man and his perception of reality ever written. Your father is trying to see outside of the cave, but has been distracted by one of it's gatekeepers. Glenn Beck stands on the right side of the doorway, and performs his function very effectively--keeping people inside the cave. The best gatekeepers, and Beck is certainly among them, even allow people to occasionally glimpse a scene outside of the cave, and this earns the trust of the imprisoned, so that they do not stray too far from their alloted space inside the darkness.

Read the story. Watch the numerous video adaptations. Understand that in life, we are all trapped within a series of caves. Some we find our way out of, and try to free others from it's gloom, not realizing that we ourselves are inside of yet another cave.

Study how deep the deception in media, education, finances, science, religion, and politics goes. It's overwhelming. Find sources of deprogramming that will point you towards the words and works of the very people who benefit by our being kept ignorant. There are many who claim to be beacons, but are themselves stuck inside the labyrinth.

As for helping your father out, seeing as he is conservative, I suggest sitting down with him and watching some of the films made by G. Edward Griffin. He's been aware of the elite's plans for decades, and has the added gravitas of the passage of time playing out his claims. A couple of films he made back in the 60's ring more true today than they possibly could have when he made them. Watch "The Grand Design" and "More Deadly than War". Try and get him to read Griffin's "The Creature from Jekyll Island".

The Grand Design - World Government 1968

www.youtube.com...

G Edward Griffin - More Deadly Than War

www.youtube.com...

A series of videos he made with/about a Soviet defector and former KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov, in which Bezmenov describes the tactics that were/are used by the KGB to infiltrate and change the directions of a society are very illuminating, especially towards the end, when Bezmenov states that the infiltration of the US was not ordered by the Soviets, but by a power higher still. (Banking elites)

www.youtube.com...

These videos are informative and entertaining for anyone with an interest in politics, and should open the door for further questioning and research.

Another source of a great deal of information about the planners of our society is Alan Watt. While he is telling you about the who's and the why's, he gives you the titles of the books written by these very men, who can't seem to resist blowing their own horn in print, for all who care to see. The problem is, most can't be bothered to read and research. That has to come from within, once one is partially awakened and is driven to find out more.

Here are links to Watt's latest interviews. He did them for Alex Jones, but don't let that trouble you, Watt's delivery is the "anti-Alex Jones" technique. Calm and cool.

Alan Watt: The Neo-Eugenics War On Humanity

I wish you, your family, and friends the very best, and hopefully some of these links can help you out.

I wish I could give you more stars for your post, it was great.
Whats more we appreciate the same people, namely Griffin and Alan watt. Two very intelligent and total insightful people. I have actually pointed them to him before which is why he like you say partially awakened. I have also used Webster Tarply who is great from explaining financial ends, sense my father is a day trader.

But Ill check out those links I also love learning more from great minds, thanks a lot, seriously.

Hmmm- you try and portray this thread as about all MSM yet it turns into nothing but bashing Fox News and Glenn Beck....
You even had to single out Fox in the thread title.....

Here's how I present it when I get on the subject....

I ask .... "Do you watch Fox/Msnbc??" (depending on who i'm asking) (I'll use Fox for example)....

they say "I watch Fox"

I ask "why fox?"

of course, I get some shmeal about it being "fair and balanced" or some garbage

I say "Well, how come I can go to another channel and get the exact opposite of what Fox says"?

This is followed by "well, those liberal stations lie to you" or something along those lines..

End it with something along the lines of explaining to them that it's reality TV... If it was "news", it would be the same throughout... The fact that you can pick a channel that tells you what you WANT to hear makes it totally null.. MSM are nothing but pundits paid to give opinion that matches that of the station. Request that they simply "think about that"... They surely won't just GET IT instantly but, plant the seed!! Hopefully it will grow!!

Then make them watch Zeitgeist!... I have crumbled the most stubborn of sheep with that video! hehe

Part of the problem could be human nature itself. No matter how much people want to deny it, humans are a bag of chemicals. They are very emotional. With that being said, emotion sells. The MSM knows this and exploits it regardless if their Stories are truthful, complete, or make any sense.

Heck, look at ATS. There are some really good, informative posts out there which receive little or no feedback. Yet, post something which strikes one of those emotional chords (regardless of truth or information) and the junk is off to the races, stars and flags across the board.

Good luck with your Father. I fight the same battle myself. As soon as your dissect anything or mention a counterpoint, the discussion is over. I hope you have better luck than me.

The only news network that even attempts to provide two points of view is Fox. Did anyone see Larry O'Donnells interview with the black dude running against the republican in South Carolina? It was pathetic. How is it that msnbc openly roots for the democrats in EVERY case and yet they are never called on it? Ed Schultz? How does this guy stay on the air? Chris Matthews get's a tingly feeling when 'Barry' speaks. Obviously Hannity and Beck hate O'bama as I do, but Brett Baer, Brit Hume, Chris Wallace, Greta Von S. and Bill O go to great lenghths to cut the skinny socialist some slack. Far more so than he deserves. If we live thru this guy's term as president without a major social or economic catastrophe it will be a miracle. Where would common sense exist if it weren't for fox news. There's something wrong with the fabric of society when John Stewart is considered a news source.

Ok- I was discussing this with a friend the other day as a matter of fact. Now bear with me just for a sec while I digress so you can understand where the question I will ask is coming from: In college I took a film class on documentaries. One of the concepts we learned about was "cinema verite" which loosely means "true cinema", in other words a documentary.Well it was discovered that there really can't ever be such a thing as true "cinema verite" because when you place a camera in front of someone, they will act (either consciously or subconsciously) differently.Likewise, the filmmakers themselves are victims of this.Their own personal feelings/biases may come out in the way questions are asked, the way the film is edited, etc. and again they may not even realize this is occurring.
So, the question I asked my friend and which I will ask you guys: Can there ever, really, truly be a 100% completely unbiased news source? Just based on the fact that news is gathered, filmed, edited, and reported by human beings?

Want to talk about slant and lies, take a look at these videos. The colleges and universities are churning out these so called impartial reporters.

Hmmm, talk about intellectual dishonesty.

Here you go-

Indoctrinate U

When people, the likes of Joy Behar and Whoopie, gather together in their classical group think get togethers, they are NEVER pushed on their beliefs. They get this group sheeple mentality. You see it in the universities and colleges. What happens when someone speaks about alternatives or proves the group think model is wrong?

They go ballistic and attack, deride, denigrate, scream, cry or in the example of the two above, RUN AWAY.

I suppose NEXT, someone is going to state that NPR and PBS is not slanted, biased and bigotted.

Gimme a break.

Have you read Tarpley's "George Bush:The Unauthorized Biography"? It's free on his websight. I haven't finished it yet, but take a look at Chapter 7, which discusses the history of and the men belonging to Skull & Bones. After reading this, one has no choice but to have a truth-conniption, or turn away from the truth forever. The power structure of this country has been and is as corrupt and mafia like in it's structure as any Cosa Nostra group. In fact, they put any other organized crime family to shame.

Thats because so many people assume that when you say MSM your speaking almost exclusively about liberal media outlets. I felt it was important to allow the reader to understand that while I may have conservative leaning view I also find offense with conservative media outlets as well, namely FOX news.

As far as Glenn Beck is concerned, Im not a fan, and I think he is a weasel. My opinion only' however I used to listen to him for more than two years.

I currently have several of Tarplys books saved to my computer. Bush and Obama Un-Biographies and post modern coup. I also enjoyed reading "Synthetic terror" I believe that was the title.
he has a way of keeping me interested in the literature by the way he writes,
I find myself entertained with what would normally be a very dry concept.

Not a problem. There is about 3 people on Fox I can listen to. Funny how one of them is someone you do not like. Another is Krauthammer. The last is a Foxy lady.

I cannot stand listening to O or H. In my mind they are a couple of Neo Cons, and O just gets on my nerves. When he was on the View, I would of asked him to leave. Ever notice his way of pointing two fingers at people when he is attempting to talk down to someone?

Neocons are really my main issue here in regards to my distrust and hatred of he media.

Yeah Both those guys are blow hards. Hanity is an arrogant prick playing innocent all the time and Bill-O is nothing but a bumbling Jackass. However back in 2000 and 2002 or 3 I actually liked listening to his show a lot.
When I started listening to Beck I was amazed with his allegations, and found myself attracted to his views.

Unfortunately later I felt differently about him based on some shady comments he made.
Oh by the way, another reason I don't mention other news outlets is because I dont know any where I can name a liberal other than Keith Oberman who I hate. However I do like to watch him make Bill O look stupid, though afterward I have to bath in concentrated acid and role in broken glass just to make the pain go away.

Can you be more specific as to the 'shady' comments that Beck supposedly made. If you're going to denigrate the man why can't you cite examples?. People are so quick to put Fox down with no proof

Beck...Patriotic with a convenient sprinkle of Neoconservative.

FOX...Overly patriotic to the point of being propaganda.
Really that's the opinions....It isn't going to be proof, I never offered proof I only offered my opinion an, opinion that still holds.

The examples I mentioned are obvious points, If you want physical evidence you can view yourself, just watch the show with an unbiased mind.
Dont take offense to me disliking Glen Beck, jeez..Thats like me taking offense to you possibly not liking sweet and sour pork.
