Do you know what Mormons, like Glenn Beck, believe? That Native Americans are descendants of Israel whom Jesus visited, in America, after the resurrection. Yes! And here Glenn Beck is on his TV show last night hinting at that.

This was part of a series about the idea of Manifest Destiny (how it was bad, and it was!) versus that of Divine Providence (this is good, apparently) and Glenn was simply trying to show that the Native Americans had lots of secrets and knowledge...

Is it me or is GBeck just on the road to madness? Some of the craziness he's comming up with is just out there.

And like the article says. He's starting a college? Maybe he is going the L Ron Hubbard route and founding his own religion.

Either way his antics are just plain weird.

And now he thinks that american indians are Jews? If they are they sure did forget alot about their history. If I know anything about Jewish culture is that they dont' forget. Their religion is a grand part of their life. And it's nothing like american indian culture.

I seriously doubt there is any support for his claims. It's just crazy.

Glen Beck is without a doubt one of my favorite comedians of all time!

My theory, and the only theory that fits, is that Glen Beck is a comic performance artist doing the world longest and most involved episode of "Punk'd"

I love GB! he's great! i dont understand why everyone hates him? is it because he is on fox? if he was on MSMBC would you then love him? just questions. no hard feelings.

I like Beck but he's finally moving toward his intended position and that is promotion of the Mormon Church.
The more he moves in that direction, the less I watch.

Wouldn't a Wise Man seek the counsel of the American Indians?

Ask them why don't you? They have their own orgin stories and not one of them say anything about being lost tribes of Israel.

I doubt if Mr. Beck asked the NA anything. He has a fascist agenda and a dumbass audience hanging on everyword.

I would dare you to go to ANY First Nations elder and try and tell them that THEY don't know their history and that YOU do.

Sorry to disappoint the hardcore churches, but the world doesn't revolve around you. The Israelites did not populate the entire earth. There have been people living on the North American continent far longer than any of the major religions have been in existence. That is actual and real history, not made up history to try to prove some kind of hokey belief system.

I am Native American and know that what the white historians wrote about are not true in any ancient respect. It may be true after the white man and natives became acquainted that some similarities may have come into play as a gesture of friendship. All cultures have some similarities - because we are all people and connect with each other in one respect or another. If someone had a good idea, the other would pick up on it - we all learn from one another.

I use to listen to Glenn Beck a few years back, I liked some of the subject matter he would discuss but it seems over time he has become more opinionated without substantial evidence. IMO

I did not read the book you suggested, but I did find some information about the DNA trail and it's leading from Siberia through to the North American continent.

Given the choice between a genetic study and a book written in 1775, I personally choose the hard science.

For the scoffing posters, the first person to tell me about the Israelites is an older Native man, a friend of mine.

While I do appreciate your passion for what you believe. I just cannot, myself, take the observations of the author you are citing to be rote.

While his work might be relevant as a historical account of the Native Americans of his period, his scientific opinions were formed based upon supposition and archaic pseudo-sciences. It reminds me of eugenics.

The factual DNA evidence does not support this authors assertions.

Regarding the pictures you shared, I do not at all dispute that the first Europeans to arrive in this land inflicted horrible violence and treatment upon the aboriginals. That seems to be the constant theme in the pictures you posted and I fail to see any other relevant message in them than that.

I read quite a bit, given the short amount of time that has passed. But not the book specified. That is precisely how I came across the genetic information that I posted.

In regards to the comments about race and the inference that the Masons are somehow involved in this debate - I am afraid I am at a total loss.
