All I see are delusional Dems defending Obama, and stubborn Republicans blaming Obama.

Where are the responses that actually have input on what to do to fix the mess? Have we forgotten about that? Or is this just a childish blame game?

Both Bush and Obama seem to be cut from the same political cloth, under a different color (no pun intended). They both seemingly have the same agenda with different political points.

What can we do to get our troops home and create jobs? We seriously need to stop bashing opposing political views because frankly both are awful and it solves NOTHING.

I don't blame anybody in my reply, so IDK what you're saying, I beleive it's such a total mess that it can't be fixed, I wouldn't even begin to know how to fix it and wouldn't even try... I wish I did know something that would fix it or that someone with enough savvy and intelligence couldl fix it, but like I said even econimists are stumped...so that tells us a lot! Think about that for a second...every administration has contributed to this problem and nobody has the answers yet you're expecting someone here on ATS does???

well, the republicans have come out and said they want obama to fail. they say no to everything, even to legislation that
THEY had proposed a couple of years ago, and they are still holding up presidential appointments that were suppose to go through the first year.

now the republicans are saying he is not doing his job. why would anybody want to have these guys back in charge of anything??? i wouldn't even vote for a republican even if he was running for dogcatcher.

i think the democrats should hire investigators and start uncovering and reporting every little scandal in the republican closet.

and by the way.....why does everybody say that we have to be civil ONLY when the democrats start fighting back..."hey, hey...hold it down now, we don't want this to turn nasty, we just want to hear republicans bashing democrats, and for the democrats to sit quietly and take it."

I wasn't speaking directly toward you. I am just tired of seeing the same crap on this board day after day. It never changes, and neither does the POTUS whether he be Dem or Rep. It's all the same crap after crap. This 2 party system really is a guise that has the populace buying right in and playing this game. All the while nothing but the same agenda gets pushed along. I just think it's pointless to blame Obama for a Bush mess or vice versa. The fedral Gov. wants war and the tycoons want to get richer. It has nothing to do with who's in office. Sorry if I offended you. I just think I am finally starting to realize that our political system is 1 giant foul smelling piece of crap.

I didn't get offended but thought you were generalizing just a bit. Anyway, that is too true this two party system sucks big time... Also there is an answer but nobody or mostly nobody is gonna like it and it's not likely to happen and that is to do away with the whole monetary system, but like another thread said people are addicted to it!

Above lies the truth. The most honest statement in this thread.
It has nothing to do with the face man in the end.

Any fool who thinks the Commander is really in charge of the ship is highly mistaken and dilusional. Yup..here are the keys...just run it aground if you like, we won't stop you, cause you the boss for four years!

Anyways, you hit the nail on the head, Friday the 12th guy!

dear troll, before you start calling the op an idiot, why dont you answer why obama stole all the money from the reserve when he was elected? and why did he make all members of his circle from wallstreet. maybe you will change your opinion when obama crashes his final promise to stop wars when he attacks iran, and when china and russia decide to join and you see your city burning. even if he is a puppet as they all are,he could have atleast stabelized the country so the rich companyes can profit without any rebels. but now he destroyed the whole country, they are the two lazyest pieces of meat on earth,i dont care about theyr university education,i never goed to univercity and im better president material!

Think about that for a second...every administration has contributed to this problem and nobody has the answers yet you're expecting someone here on ATS does???

And therein lies the solution. You just provided it without knowing that you did. Congrats.

You said "every administration has contributed to this problem". Yep, you're right. And what was the common denominator in what they did wrong? Deficit spending.

It pretty much started with Clinton, and continued to the present. But no administration has learned that

YOU CANNOT SPEND YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS MESS! Fiscal integrity is necessary. Absolutely.

The past 18 months has seen fast growth in the government sector, no growth in the private sector. Nowadays a government worker makes significantly more in salaries and benefits than a private worker.

These are paid for with taxes, of course, and this cannot continue. But no politician has the guts to push for deep cuts (20%) in the public sector. Lay off one of every 5 workers. Has to be done, for starters.

Overall, federal workers earned an average salary of $67,691 in 2008 for occupations that exist both in government and the private sector, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The average pay for the same mix of jobs in the private sector was $60,046 in 2008, the most recent data available.

worse yet,

These salary figures do not include the value of health, pension and other benefits, which averaged $40,785 per federal employee in 2008 vs. $9,882 per private worker, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

www.usatoday.com...

So there is a good start. Cut the size of the federal gov down. Get rid of these six figure 'czars' and their bloated staffs. Stop it with these stimulus packages.

There's a start for you.

You won't get an answer from him - but since I'm the OP I'll answer it.

Obama was heavily backed by the unions and other shady groups like George Soros. But those guys don't play for free. After Obama won the election, it was, and still is, payback time. Obama has already written some big checks - bank bailouts, bailouts of GM and Chrysler and then buying GM, healthcare, etc. And he still has a couple big ones to write - immigration (amnesty) and Cap and Trade (energy) before he effectively seals our future doom.

And there's always the nickel and dime vacations at $300K a pop to demoralize the people...

From what you wrote about the 'Bloated' Federal / state sector you have in the USA then that puts you about 3 years BEHIND where we are in the UK.... The last Political Party, labour, led by Gordon Brown spent money on boosting the 'Public sector' over here, trying to keep the economy going ??? to the point now where we cannot afford it size and Costs !!!!
He like all previous politicians DID NOT want to take the medicine that is required !!!

If you want to see what NEEDS to happen in the USA then watch the UK over the next 12 months as we HAVE to reduce the size of our public sector much to the anger it will generate from ALL those who have been SUCKLING their inflated salaries, benefits & pension pots from it !!

What you meant:
There should be an independent (and I don't mean political party, I mean completely impartial) investigation to uncover every little scandal in the government's closets.

Yes, PurpleDog, I have watched the UK deteriorate rapidly over the past 10 years or so. You have slowly but surely sunk into a socialist society, and have been assaulted by other cultures that refuse to assimilate and instead want you to adopt their legal system. You know who I am talking about.

I think there is still hope for the US, but first we need to get rid of this fool in the White House. Then we can return our nation back to the proud nation we once were.

the 'fool' in the White house is only one of the SERIES of fools you've had in that building...

Make no mistakes, going back to a Republican with all that they stand for would be an even bigger FOOLISH mistake to make. Remember it has been a succession of Republican Presidents who have create the mess you are in and then buggered off and left this 'fool' to try and sort it out...

I keep saying that if we all try and follow the historical party politics then history has taught us so far that we come full circle and nothing gets done apart from the development of the CAREER politicians who SUCKLE at the money giving teat that is your taxation.....

Fool or not President Obama needs to act decisively and properly and also stop the double standards that wife clearly has become so EXCELLENT at........

As I said before - Michelle Obama is living the American Dream whilst most other Americans are living the American Nightmare...

Yes you are right, the economic situation we have today didn't not started with Obama, he just made it worst following Bush bailout for the wealthiest in the nation and the too big to fail.

People do have short memories of may I say selective memories America trade deficit and downfall has been going steadily and down right like a run away train since 1975.

America middle class has been decimated since the creation of trade agreements (Clinton legacy) and globalization.

Our morons in congress and dirty rats and enriching their pockets with foreign money while subsidizing foreign nations with tax payer money to train workers that will come back to kill yet more American jobs.
