This is crazy, I just got a call from a friend who works in Hartford, CT. He told me that they just had a very noticable earthquake. He said it was so big that monitors were falling off desks. It is very rare for earthquakes to occur in Connecticut. What's going on?

Canada also had a earthquake. Wouldn't surprise me if both quakes happened at the same time.

Holy moly!!! I'm in NJ and a little over 30 minutes ago I felt the building I was in move a little! It's a small 4 floor medical building that is wider than it is tall; that makes me believe it wasn't wind.

Edit: Is there a way to confirm it reached NJ?

I'm not buying that this was effects from the Ontario quake. It is so far away from Connecticut and was only a 5.5. My friend is reporting that their office building, in a suburb of Hartford, was violently shaking. He said it came in two waves. I'm maybe an hour away and felt it shake too, though I was outside so couldn't guage it that well.

The Montreal quake was felt as far as Detroit, Ohio, and possibly Chicago, and those places are farther away from the epicenter than Connecticut is. I'm pretty sure it's just the one quake.
