At the expense of the country's credibility, the chance to be branded traitors, and possibly get shot...

But whoever attempts it gets 15 minutes of worldwide fame! :p

Here goes: We the people individually petition the leaders of the countries that offered to help with the leak. Forget the 'official' channels- we send these people personal letters and petitions- basically overriding the president, congress, and everyone else.

If our own country cant do it, we may as well take a page from their book of dirty tricks and try this ourselves. Probably take a buttload of letters to each head of state, which means more than a couple dozen people would have to be willing to stick their fingers in the crap fan.

This was posted in a sarcastic "I am headed to bed and I am just plain disgusted by the whole debacle" state of mind.

*Grumps off to bed*

It'd accomplish quite a bit. 1) The people would be able to show their mass disapproval of the current puppet. 2) The spill would finally have a shot at being really dealt with, and not simply turned into a media circus, milked for all it's worth. 3) It'd show people CAN make a difference if they work together.

However- being that no one can work together, and it's a whole lot more fun sitting in their cozy little homes, typing furiously- This is no more than yet another idea from yet one more person that will be passed over and probably snickered at.

petitioning leaders of the countries wont do any help in actually stopping the leak. even if you get the right answer, you wont be able to actually go out there and try it out. it's bp's area and they aint letting anybody near it.

It wasnt an end all solution. Why you think it's titled the way it is? I know it's pretty much doomed.

They area in question is actually public property. Don't forget it.

I agree with that....but, you can try and be that one man army guy and get past the coast guard and into that zone. Pretty sure that our arguement of it being public property wont hold a lick when they have a nice .50 cal shoot off across your bow. No thanks. But, if it reaches the beaches around here and they try and keep me off of em like those security guards did to that reporter, they will def have a fight on there hands. And not no pickiting, marching, singing koom by ya or whatever, it will be me throwing some blows, you can bet that.

Also if we as "the people" said in writing that we wanted foreign help regardless of our "representatives" denial of such, what do you think bp would do if several governments show up and demand to help because the people who live there requested it? I like the idea, thanks op.
