for the love of god please stop watching fox news its rotting your brain America is not going to fall its changing we may become a bit more humble maybe a little less arrogant maybe we will stay out of other countries business maybe just maybe we can repair our relationship with the rest of the world. I love this country but we have collectively made mistake after mistake ever since we let old G.W.B claim victory in an election he lost. We need to stop worrying about the rest of the world and fix our own country so we can be great again.

I agree it will not fall. This will definitely begin a depression though. The domino effect is going to be a disaster here. I don't understand why some people think all of a sudden we will be locked up slaves? If anything there will be more people speaking out and trying to create change.

The Tea Party marchers on Washington represent the average Americans.

If that were true, there would be a hella lot more of them in the streets.

Perhaps the true, Average American has a vastly different idea of what freedom means.

Perhaps that idea is centered on the belief that one's personal comfort is not more important than the health and well-being of one's friends, neighbors, community and Nation.

Perhaps True Americans believe the concept of "We, the people",

not just "I, the individual".

Quoted for truth. I couldn't of said it better my self.
[sarcasm]Oh guess what? You're socialist now! Because you talked about "we" instead of "I". [/sarcasm]

Your taxes are going to a good cause? That's not what taxes are for! America is the MOST generous country on the planet! When not forced to give we give the most! I personally give at least twice a month to various causes, yesterday alone my wife and collected bags of various items for the a nearby shelter and are dropping them off today! I don't want my taxes to determine where I give! I don't feel good about where my taxes go! I don't agree with 85% of where they go, and if this bill goes through it will go to 95%

I too, give to various causes but that is besides the point. So you personally believe that it is not in your position to contribute to your fellow citizens who need health care, and instead continue to utilize your funds for only what you deem necessary?

America will continue on for some time, but will almost certainly change.

Behold the 'nanny' state as it raises it's slimy greed driven head.

And to those who berate the naysayers to HCR, your just as delusional in your thinking as the 'teapartyers'. The version that is being voted on is so slanted toward insurers and big phama that it will be worse than doing nothing. IMO

I think it is funny that some people are saying "down with America" and all that jazz. for example saying we don't want this bill passed because we don't want Obama to have a "win". Its ok, I'm 15 and i KNOW that obama is a Marxist, communist hypocrite. You say that WE are easily manipulated, I form my own opinions and i actually know information. And for saying down with America is selfish. And yelling like little children debating nations is immature! Ok, you wanna live in your dirt hole without coke and microwaves don't cry to me. THE POINT IS that AMERICA IS A NATION!!! How would you know what it would be like without them. and why blame us. You say we have chains on you and you want the health care bill passed so we get the freedoms you have. HEALTH CARE IS CHAINS, ALONG WITH TAX RETURNS! You know that minorities get more money back at the end of the year so they will depend on Uncle Sam more? Also, Health care is a way for them to get average people to depend on America! So what you cant do this or that. IT IS AMERICA. You have your nation, we have ours. the point is. if you dont like it, CRY about it.

just because public healthcare would be an option doesn't mean you have to use it there will still be private healthcare and if we can spend half a trillion a year on our military we should be able to provide healthcare to our less fortunate citizens i dont understand what the big deal is and people waiting to see a doctor for six months is in my opinion better than those same people never getting to see a doctor because they cant afford it.

I understand this is a point of view for many of you. But have you forgotten that Usa have had everything under controll since the start of the 1900s. In 1954 all the leaders of the world gathered and made a deal of making something called the NWO. For making the NWO alot of changes has to be done. What you are all experiencing is a over 60 years old plan going perfectly into pieces.

For the usa, bill clinton, bush, obama have done one amazing job to actually fullfill this plan.

Its brilliant.

Why don't you speak with the Treasurer of the State of Massachusetts about whether or not this health care bill will bankrupt American? They have the pilot program for this health care bill and its not going very well.

then we should cut back on military spending spending that money on infrastructure and healthcare seems much more noble than spending it on tanks and guns

Do you side with the health care bill and accept it "for the greater good" regardless of its limitations on the individual and our rights?

-or-

Do you denounce such things in the name of liberty and our Constitution, for an ACTUAL greater good come tomorrow?

You already know my answer.

I'm about to get controversial.

There here, this statement and what it alludes to is America's greatest problem. The belief that the individual, and the individual's right is more important than the whole is what drives the essence of corruption. Do you really think that your so called "liberty" and "individual freedom" is what is going to make everything work together so nicely?

Don't you see? America started off with these things called "freedom" and "liberty" and now look where it brought you. These corporations, these selfish people, driven by the same motives as the individual albeit with more power than the individual but still using the same rules, corrupted a once great nation.

Continue to cry for individuality and you won't see change. You'll see more of the same.

The greater good is caring for the entire population, social and economic well being for all, rights for all, but most importantly, consideration and care for all. Individualism does not promote this. And that is what is America, and the rest of the world's problem is.

Spoken very well, and a point I have been trying to make also. Don't expect ANYONE to grasp the concept though. It's hopeless. I have lived in two other countries in my lifetime, though American born and most of my life here. NOWHERE else in the world are people SO SELFISH, and SO SELF-CENTERED. We are so easily manipulated and controlled through this constant self-seeking. One of the things that really bothers me is how Americans talk about HOW GREAT this country is, while making excuses for it, not realizing the rest of the world doesn't agree with that sentiment. There are SOME GREAT countries in the world that don't start with "I"
America was a GREAT IDEAL...but looking back through the HISTORY & the TRUTH...that's all it EVER WAS... a great idea which was NEVER realized from DAY 1. Americans refuse to see that truth and truth about a pretty UGLY past. America is not DEAD...it was never really born.

Yes! I do not think it is my responsibility to provide healthcare to other people. It IS my responsibility to provide it to my wife and children. If all felt that way we would have no problem. I say again, I do give to many cause's, of my own choice, forcing me to contribute to others will only take away from the support I do give. I worry for my children, when there are only a third of the available doctors left, whats going to happen when my boy breaks his arm in football? He waits longer to see a doctor then a housewife in Canada for a tummy tuck.

Then you sir, perpetuate the problem in America. Your individualistic and "only those that I choose to care for matter" attitude is no different then the selfish corporate whores that you come on ATS to rant about. How then is loving and caring for those you only choose to any different than major corporate interests who corrupt politics and the nation in general, all for the sake of "providing for" and "caring for" their own interests and the interests of those "they love"?

Don't you see? The only difference between you and the CEO of Exxon Mobil (or any other corrupt and politically influential corporation) is that they have money, and they have power. Put you into their seat, and you would think no different than them. It's all about your family, right? Who cares about your neighbour.

American's FEAR "SOCIALISM" a term created to mean something EVIL, by way of bi-partisan propaganda. The idea of UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE seems like a social program to many folks.
Yes, the very idea of sharing anything with another human being is disgusting to so many in the United States.
