"there is nothing about jay that is Mason"

I have to ask, how would you know what messages your being given by anyone or who they associate with or what their intentions are?

I have made no call on who he is directly nor said that these accusations are true...

But what i don't do is read articles about a man, crafted and controlled by what he "wishes" me to hear and decide because I like or don't like the music that a single word of what he "says" his stuff or he is all about to be real...

You Identify with Him... you "Know" him

But do you?

Been Pimpin with Jay lately?

No... your a Fan boy

It is simple ignorance to associate oneself with celebrity or Politic and decide you "know" what is going on based on the words of those people, Hitler had "fan boys" too

I have said likely this is simple commercialization...

And if that is what you stand for, good for you... it changes NOTHING of my point that buying and selling of airspace during a family event for what is in essence a message you can buy and sell anything is wrong...

Perhaps listening to crap your mind and senses allow you to exist in a world that is crap and dog eat dog...

All I can say is you get in the end what you believe...

If that is really the message you wish for your kids one day...so be it... but it has nothing to do with this being 2010 and the "real world" simply a world you choose to live in... nor does it have to do with RAP being good or Bad...

The message and life and belief system behind THIS song, is crap to most people, a world many people rather not live in... so when you hear the Hate, look at what is being said and understand why, it's a garbage life that reflects terrible values and likely a bad ending... so plz...go spill that beer to "all your dead homies" the rest of us rather LIVE BETTER

I am 61 years old and I loved the sound! I went to the site you posted and read the lyrics.

I don't understand what you are upset about? He is basically a guy with a huge ego. He talks about not waiting for things to happen or to rely on the past. Instead he is making things happen.

I saw a message there for people to get up off of their a$$es and do something to make their lives better. I don't agree with his materialism but I have no complaint over his message of take control of your own destiny.

He didn't encourage drug use. He said he did not even need "X".

I think you are reading into this video your own negative history and bias.

I will agree however, that the timing was not great; especially for the younger audience that would see only the visual and understand little of the more subtler message.

You can turn this into a debate on RAP and Hip Hop all you like...

But your being an idiot and tasking it personally rather than THINKING

I said before... I like Marylin Manson in the right CONTEXT, I would want him to host The Thanksgiving day parade...

It's just stupid...

When you think, that this belongs Everywhere and every time and any event and can't distinguish between right and wrong context for something.... maybe you should consider at such a point that Maaaaaaaaaybe... what your listening to isn't to be idolized and lacks bringing you to a place of any clear thinking?

Well it DID sound GREAT

I wouldn't argue that for a second... Obama sounds great too in his own way doesn't mean I like his politics nor would want him as the speaker at ....a Gun Rally for example...he wouldn't exactly Fit right (just an analogy)

Song had an awesome beat... great dance music...

Didn't belong, especially given imagery, on a nationally Televised new years celebration...

And no offense... but if your 61 and you think Pimpin and getting money any way you can with Bullets as the visual metaphor is "doing something with your life" as a message for the New Year, you are doing a good job of defying the statement "with age comes wisdom"

How's about.... appreciation of what you have like family and Love... Happy new Year?

The Devil is a sly old fox
I like to catch him and put him in a box(tv)
lock the box(tv) and throw away the key
for all the mean tricks he's played on me.

Really, stop feeding the troll. It'll go away if you don't respond.

As disturbing as the video is, I don't think I would have as much of a problem with it had it been shown on a cable network (like MTV), but it was shown on a basic channel when most people were expecting something more family-oriented. Therein lies the problem, in my opinion.

Didn't say that... don't Know for sure what Manson is.. don't know for sure what jay is...

Manson is a frackin freak... still do enjoy his music...

But I wouldn't PLAY IT... on a festive family spot on national TV on New Years Eve... it doesn't Work, it's not a good message, it's not a healthy statement it's not a Family New Years celebration...

It doesn't belong...

There are moments where...Pimpin and Money might be words you want to hear...out clubbin, sitting in your room drawing your Blue print and wanting that anger energy and dominant sound... driving your car down the strip

It's a crap message for a Holiday lol...

And as I said if you can't recognize it maybe you do need a break for something of more substance...because if you can't recognize it your shallow... 24/7 thinking of Money and power and that kind of imagery even on a holiday, there's just not much to a person like that.

Time and a Place man, time and a place...

I think your reading into this wayyyyy to much..but who am I kidding your posting this on ATS so it is what it is. This video is giving a pretty simple message. Jay Z is simply stating his ability to prosper in a world that is manipulated by the rich and the wealthy. This message simply says that he was able to gather riches and turn them into wealth. It's about class seperation which he has moved from being just a rich hip-hop star to a wealth builder. Whats the problem. The beats are a little more on the cross over to electronic than Jay-Z has built his empire on but I have a feeling that this type sound is going to be the new sound we hear from hip-hop. This isn't about vampires and goats heads. It's about transformation in a financial sense. I hate to say this but you getting all bent out of shape makes you sound like the typical white person afraid the black man is going to rob you or steal your woman? Really if you got so offended why didn't you just change the channel. Remember you do have the ultimate power on what you watch. Stop bitching take action pick up the remote and hit the button.

Nice talk it can get confusing out there if you need help I'll be in the corner saying I told ya so.

I agree...

Handful can't seem to get that it's disturbing by and large "within the context" no Matter how many times it's said...

Some reply's make me want to go into a nightclub at 1:00 Am throw out the DJ and blast Country Western at top Volume for 10 minutes... maybe then they would "get it"

MTV is fine for an Obsession with power and Wealth you don't have... lol, everyone else can tune it out...

Yeah we are a corporate nation, almost a globalized corporation. But I'm pretty sure every new years other people buy time slots with ads and such. My point being is what did you expect? You guys remember the McDonald hamburger of the month, well they haven't done that in several years because people have been programed, or conditioned to think hey that where I get my food. So the Jay Z thing wasn't much different in my eyes the programmers are just trying to teach new family values of masonry.

Glad I drank myself into oblivion and disconnected from the electronic drugs, for the more tasty bulleit.

Anyways
Happy new year
Read food for the gods.
Or another one I'm reading right now is frank scully's behind the saucers from teh 1950

Um, does that damn clown/joker-thing count on your list of disturbing?

No really though, that thing (whatever it was meant to be) freaked me out.

As far a Hip-Hop/Rap music videos go (or just about any music video today), it was actually calm. So the video itself didn't really posses anything too bad.

There still was something unsettling about it to me though.

Like I said, if this had been on MTV or a station like that, I probably wouldn't have a problem at all. I know it was after midnight, but I know of a lot of families with small children that stay up to watch the ball drop, and they don't immediately go to bed afterward.

Wait, are you talking about real country music, or the crap they call "country music" that is played on the radio?

Either way, that would be a lot of fun.

There are people who are connected to the feed and live their lives like plants, unaware that they are just puppets on the strings. There's no way you can hear something worth attention from them, all they can do is repeat the rap of their dominant idea. Pop culture is a great way to indoctrinate people. Most or all pop music is about conditioning, repeating patterns and renewing emotions that are necessary for the people to function the way they have been conditioned to function.

Yeah, let's go have fun - but only empty people get bored and need external input to feel good. This fact is heavily overlooked. "Having fun" is the greatest slogan ever! (Well, only half of it, the other half is - bread!)

You wish lol

Keep holding on to the dreams of mediocre porn and Rap videos and what it takes for you to have self esteem...

Not everyone likes Thug Culture... Not everyone likes MY crap music either...

And that's what it is, pulp crap geared at angry teens... and I'd say the same for most of what I once listed to mainly also so it's not an insult...

Some people want to believe everything is about their blackness or their Music or some statement against them...

But the truth is... a lot of people don't live that life, don't care to be in a "HARDCORE" world... particularly not on a holiday...

Get out of the hood mentality and just... Blend once or twice a year lol, mellow out rofl....

I'm not thugin on New Years Eve with my kids... most of us aren't... Black and White... doesn't matter

You Live in the world you create man... so say all that CRAP above, it's all nonsense, you don't know me... I want my kids to have Holidays where Money and Greed and SEX aren't the focal points because it's all garbage anyway...

Get a higher purpose,

The Music is Good lol... but it's still... nothing, Ozzy was good, he's still an idiot. I've gone along for the party sure... but I don't take it seriously like there is some real depth to this stuff or to the men behind it... small minded guys appealing to the angers and frustrations of the masses... worse when some take their lyrics too seriously...

Play a frackin Love song or something for 10 minutes after New Years, your not going to want your kids to be Gangsta no matter what you think now...

There's more to life than shakin that ass and being pissed off and worrying about CASH

No it was not... it was the New Years eve special from Times Square, it was on multiple channels...

Of course learning to read or not is also A RIGHT, but it doesn't make it RIGHT not to either.

I am sorry if I was wrong about the time slot.
When I look in to it all I am finding is "NBC's Carson Daly New Year's Eve 2010", I remember in past years Carson's show always over lapped with the New Years Countdown.

I could be wrong ... but ..

None of that changes the fact that just because you don't like the video does not mean it cannot be played.

No I will not argue anymore because you will not be reasonable.

Crosses and Bullets,Bloody clowns, Vampires, Rams horns, and Demons .

This is in the middle of the night on the holiest nights of all, New Years !

People are going crazy over this your right, but any Atheist or anyone that cares more about there freedoms then a fairytale will agree with me.
