We need to put an end to the left versus right war. It is destroying our country and the very freedoms we hold dear.
I am asking for people to put away their party ideology and come together as one solid force.
Instead of focusing on our differences is it to much to ask that we take a look at what values we have in common.
This may anger some people, but now is not the time to focus on issues such as global warming and abortion issues. Until we can unite and focus on changing the current direction our country is headed, these issues can never be resolved.
Other threads have suggested registering as decline to state. Could you imagine what kind of message that would send if people started changing their voter registration by the hundreds?
It wouldn't be to hard to go viral on this.
What do you guys think?
I am currently writing a letter to my local newspaper, I hope every one who agrees will do the same.

edited for grammar and content.

I just find it funny that this sentiment comes out only after the last 8 years. Its like a certain political party got their use out of it, but now its harming them so they want to push this idea that there is no right and left wing.

Sorry, I'm not buying it. There is definitely a left and right wing in this country. Two sides that have some very serious disagreements.

S&F for you because you bring up this post, where Open_Minded Skeptic made a real suggestion of a concrete step people could take.

My suggestion is less concrete, but it's definitely something we can all do to tear down the invisible barrier between the "wings". Found Here.

i think S&f is in order... i am happy to see people coming to this conclusion, as i have done... we need not to forget that we are the next Generation coming to power and we will be the ones making the future... hopefully i will see you in the years to come, and share ideas to bring this world back to the Golden Ages...

i highly recommend if you have done so far, is to read or listen to lectures of Manly. P hall.. right now i am reading the Secret Destiny of America ... and i shocked to what i am finding.. the book is based off his lectures in 1942...

Peace Love Enlightenment ..

And an east wing and a west wing and a chocolate wing and a vanilla wing and a hot wing and a cold wing.

There are more than just two points of view in this country. The left/right paradigm is disingenuous and limiting at best.

See? This whole "there are no wings" rhetoric is nothing more than a way for the left to end debate. What they want is for everyone to drop their guard and stop being critical of yes, left wing policies. This way when someone does disagree with a policy, based on which political spectrum it came from, they can simply dismiss you.

There is a left and a right. If democrats want to push communist like policies, thats definitely on the left. The democrats and people of that persuasion know that words like "communist" and now "left" are bad. They have to find a way to push this policies without people knowing where they come from.

Do not fall for it.

Of course there are, but all of these opinions originate from a point of view thats grounded on either the left or right side of the grid. You guys only want to get rid of them as a way of blurring the substance of the opinions. Communist or socialist policies are much easier to get through when you cant label it left or right. It sounds so much nicer and less nefarious that way.

Its like Van Jones and a lot of these guys talk about "changing the language" of the debate. They cant be honest about what they want, because the American people would reject it.

This thread, in of itself, was neither left nor right until you posted. You are exactly what the OP, as well as myself and a gazillion others, are sick to puking of. You're root of both cause and foundation is that of "which side one is on", which is a gruntal disposition at best.

This thread is one's wishes to abolish the political parties in whole in order to head towards the goal of the government to be of the people ........ again ....... because for as long as people sit and bitch/cry/moan/argue/rant/slander against the other never surpassing what goddamn side one is on, we are forever stuck in a debacle of incessant bickering with zero progress of issues in the nation.

So a person who is socially liberal and fiscally conservative is what? Left or right wing? A person who is a strict christian traditionalist when it comes to social matters but believes in generosity to a fault on economic issues.. left or right wing?

It's a false paradigm and it's only purpose is to divide and destroy. I am at best an anarchist. I don't give a hoot about facism or socialism or any other ism. I am looking forward to the collapse of the US economy. Then we can go back to towns taking care of themselves. That seemed to work out a lot better than this globalism crap is.

I just dread the "in between" time of that scenario in action. You know, the part where the people that can't do anything ............ go insane.

There are two subjects we all can agree on

None of us want Corporate take over of the entire food supply see link

Everyone in the USA has a common enemy the Central Bankers in control of the Fed, World Bank, IMF , Bank of international Settlements, Bank of England... see ATS The very serious disagreements" are a lets you and he fight while the bankers make off with our wealth.

Here is the proof.

The Department of Homeland Security says 80% of our ports are operated by Foreigners and they are buying and running US bridges and toll roads. www.alabamaeagle.org...

Statistics (courtesy of Bridgewater) showed in 1990,before WTO was ratified, Foreign ownership of U.S. assets amounted to 33% of U.S. GDP. By 2002 this had increased to over 70% of U.S. GDP. www.fame.org...

An analysis of the 2007 financial markets of 48 countries shows the world's finances are in the hands of a few mutual funds, banks, and corporations. This is the first report of global concentration of financial power ..www.insidescience.org...

The Bankers and the international Corporations are now after US (and World) farmland. see my comment at ATS I have spent several years researching it and the USA is about to lose its farmland to corporate control.

Our last US citizen owned Asset is our farmland and Congress is about to pass the bill that will give it to the multinational Corporations.

I really do wish it were that easy, but our country in reality is so divided, and on such far ends of the spectrum. In all honesty, the only people who really would unite would be the moderates, centralists, etc... but there are people on both sides who are so far apart and oppose what the other side wants so much, that they are ready to go to war with eachother. Some people blindly follow Obama into socialism, others want him to hurry up. And on the other side, there are so many people who would take up arms in order to not go that direction. It really is Polar. The opposite ends are so different, its almost like trying to get Israel and Palestine to just join together and come up with an easy solution over the holy land and make them both happy. The answer will not include both sides getting what they want. The same goes with our country.

I do agree with you though, that there are some things that are causing such an uproar, its almost as if we are on the verge of a civil war. And I truely feel that it is being anticipated, and almost pushed for. Look at the fighting between parties over some of these issues. Some have even become violent in certain cases. And while we are all fighting over this, they are taking away our freedoms, passing bills and laws that we didnt even know were up for voting. This healthcare bill being one of the biggest distractions from everything else. seperating the Obama loyalists and libertarians, and making them clash, with the politically ignorant getting caught up in the middle on both sides.

IMO, this is a tactic that they are using in the white house to separate and distract. The goal? Only assumptions can be made. But the more logical conclusions ones are still scary.

Too little, too late.

Ask yourself how your plans will integrate into the next "government" because this one is completely hosed.

What I find as interesting is what many of us(myself over 50) have said for years: Term limits.......vote them out! No more pro-lobby nonsense. The juice these "servant's" of the people get and have make the god's. This needed to end a hundred years ago. It maybe indeed to late. I still remember the early 60's when as a child I could ride my bike or walk all over town(a big town) without problem. I'd love to see that happen now. I was 5 and my sister was 10 and we could take the city bus 50 miles up the coast to go to another beach.

Figure it out...the problem is is Washington and your state capital. Your local politicians and in yourself....vote and vote them out. HELL ...run yourself for office and clean this up.

Tired of all the educated dimwhits that can't see the nose on there face..

Later,

E

I'm not asking people to change their beliefs or the way they vote, and who they vote for, but to show the government that we can unite for the greater good. Its only to late when there is no one left standing.

Good post.

I've been tninking along these lines recently and realized a couple of points.

There is almost never just one solution to a problem.

There is almost never a perfect solution to a problem.

These points are especially true when dealing with the kind of big problems we deal with on a national level. There are going to be winners and losers in most cases. But the left/right debate is magnifying these differences. The health care debate is a good example. Conservitives are pouring over the purposals and picking out any little detail they can point out and portray it as "the downfall of our society". Before anyone jumps on me for that the far left plays the same game.

I think we often see the same problems but if one side purposes a solution the other side will run down the idea or even deny the problem exists because they don't want to allow a "victory' to the bad guys. The problem that I see is that the two sides have been painted as being polar opposites. left/right good/evil. The reality is shades of grey.

A quote from Abrham Lincoln as best as I can remember it.

"If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will. "
