Why would the Russians use the Atlantic Ocean/Mediterranean Sea to ship weapons to Iran, when they could use the Caspian Sea?
We live in a World of multiple perceptions, and realities. I have known for a long time, and recently it was brought back up, that the real Power Brokers have NO NAMES. The ones we know as the high, of high, are still nothing, but pawns in a grander game.
According to European Union officials a second attack was then reported off the Portuguese coast and the ship's AIS system was switched off.
Russian navy vessels, including the Ladny frigate and two nuclear submarines, were mobilised following reports of the vessel's hijacking.
The communication with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, which appeared to be normal, came four days after the Arctic Sea's Russian crew members had reported the armed boarding to managers based in Finland.
For unknown reasons, and according to Maltese maritime officials, the reported attack was not communicated to the police in Helsinki until Jul 28, too late for British coastguards to be alerted to the existence of a possibly hijacked vessel in the English Channel.
I haven't seen any confirmation of that second attack.

There were 2x attacks, not one.
They only left British waters at the end of July 29 or early hours of July 30, I think they had enough time for an emergency call to the British authorities, if they considered it important enough to tell the British, so if there was a delay it was by the Finnish authorities
They waited until they were out of British navy presence to report the hijacking.
They couldn’t risk the British finding this ship first, and discovering its cargo.
They can use the Caspian Sea.
Russia couldn’t transport it via train/road, because Georgia has become sealed and allied with the west.
Any ships sent from Russia itself to the Middle east , more specifically Iran would be checked out and flagged.
How did they did that? Through the Sahara? The entry in the Mediterranean is closely controlled, the ships left the Mediterranean to go to the Atlantic and when they get back they will be seen.
Now, Russia has managed to get what ever this is into the Middle east, without appearing responsible.

True, unless you needed two subs to do the work of moving the alternate cargo. I'm still of the opinion this is a ruse, if there is much ado about missiles able to carry nuclear warheads shipped to Iran you can bet it is part of a beat up for Israel.
Given Russia has sold Sunburn missiles to Iran it is hardly likely to try to off load some really old stock.
