Obama just said he wants to ration health care

In his news conference he said he wants to ration health care.

You have to listen to what he's saying. When Jake Tapper asked him about the sacrifice people will have to make, he said we need to cut down on taking tests from 3 or 4 different doctors.

He said something like this earlier. He said instead of surgery, you might just need a pill.

These are things that's between you and your Dr., not the Government. I have had to see several specialist for a problem and I don't need Obama and the Democrats telling me that I don't need these tests.

If I take these tests and nothings wrong, so what. At least I covered all the bases. I don't need Government rationing my healthcare.

I must say I was appalled when watching this ABC news clip of Obama making this ludicrous statement to the daughter of a now 105-year-old woman who needed a pacemaker (she needed the surgery at 99). The daughter in question, Jane Sturm, was asking the President if he thought medical criteria such as age should be used or should quality of life and joy be important in making the decision to provide care. From his answer, which basically boils down to "Mom can take a pain pill," Obama shows himself not only to have no understanding of medicine, life, or the science of improving people's lives, but no empathy for those of us who have life threatening illnesses that require immediate medical intervention.

What Obama is talking about is dangerous in a free country. He can't control what tests Doctors give and how many tests Doctors give you. I rather be over tested than under tested and then I find out I have a tumor and I didn't catch it because the Government is rationing out what tests you can take.

That's the point in a nut shell. Let people just die! I am sick of this liberal drivel. Everyone of those supporting this bill ,are far and above us regular peons. They will not have to be subjected to such a demoralizing act,as to seek "Obamacare".

All his followers seem to believe he is a savior! Let him just heal the sick,and save the country the expense.

Democrats also voted down an amendment from Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nv.) that would require all Members of Congress to get insurance through the government-run plan. Apparently Democrat members of Congress do not like the government plan they’re trying to inflict on the rest of us. In a straight party line vote, Democrats voted against exempting themselves from the government-run plan by a vote of 21-18.

“We also had an amendment to require that members of Congress must participate in the government-run plan,” Camp said. “If it’s such a great idea, it should be a great idea for members of Congress. The majority voted to prevent that from happening. They voted to exempt members of Congress from the government-run plan.”

Also voted down were amendments that would require proof of citizenship or legal status to sign up for the government plan, that would bar government funding abortion as a plan “benefit,” and an amendment that would bar rationing of health care based on comparative effectiveness data.

I have joked alot about "Soylent Green" these past few weeks, but I'm not sure it is a joke any more.

On a lighter note, Fox's hit medical show, "House" will be changed under the Obama plan to "Mobile Home."

I find the statement of his to be varying on what it means depending on who's looking at it. Like to me, all it meant was to consider looking into your medicine cabinent and take stuff from there instead of going to the doctor's office for every. little. thing. :/

This is how Elites think. Al Gore wants you to ride a bike and live in a tree house to save the planet and he's too important for these rules so he needs the Gulfstream.

Obama likes his healthcare but he wants to ration out healthcare for you.

That lady said her 105 year old mother loves life and Obama said, she might as well take a pain pill instead of surgery and just checkout.

This is ghoulish. This is the way Obama wants to control costs. He wants a panel to decide wether you should get surgery or take a pain pill.

This is between a man and his wife. These decisions are between a family and their Doctor.

Obama and the Democrats should not have anything to do with these decisions. But under Obamacare, you will not be making these decisions but some panel will be making these decisions for you.

That's not America.

That's not Obama's decision to make. That can't be controlled and managed in Washington.

Sometimes little things turn into big problems.

I know someone that went to the hospital for a little headache. He thought he would get some pills but it turned out he had a tumor and they caught it because they carried out blood work and a battery of tests.

If people need the government to tell them how to live then this country is in way worse shape then I ever thought it was, and that is saying something because I feel it is in really bad shape as it is.

Have you taken a good look around society lately? Most people are sheep and will listen to whatever their told - though with Obama, it's definitely falling fast.
I just gave an example of that to contradict the other people on this board - mainly to see the response to it in particular. Looking at that speech is entirely way of interpretation.

I heard that too and I just shook my head. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

Obama is talking about micro-managing peoples lives. He said this in a radio interview in 2001. He said the Constitution is fundamentally flawed because it restrains Government and it doesn't talk about redistribution of wealth.

The Founders restrained Government because they didn't want the Government or some Dictator controlling peoples lives.

Obama said he wants to fundamentally transform America. It's not a fundamenta flaw, it was put there by design in order to restrain exactly what's happening.

Obama wants to control healthcare, energy, banks, executive pay, car companies. He's appointed over 33 Czars and during the campaign he wanted a civilian police force stronger than the military.

Obama's ego is so big, he think he can replace the Constitution with his liberal ideology.

And there the man shows his true colours. However, I find his sickening lack of compassion interesting. Would he have denied treatment or testing to his own mother who died from cancer? Or for his allegedly alcoholic father when he lost both his legs in a car accident? How about if his kids had a serious condition...would he suggest just taking a pill instead of life enhancing surgery? Would he accept the results of one test in a situation of a difficult diagnosis? Or does this only apply to the old? Well, apparently it also applies to the severely disabled and the chronically sick of any age.
So why no compassion? Is he uncaring and cut off because of his repressed demons? I believe one of his half sisters commented that his arrogance and need for power might be his downfall, that he might take it too far. Correct.

Seems the meaning of the word ‘hypocrisy’ eludes him. It also seems that he says what he wants to fit the situation, commonly known as lying. They really, really should have a battery of psychological tests before anyone can become president in my view.

Usually when it comes to Obama I take what he says reverse it and that is usually what happens.

So if there is any interpretation that he isn't going to ration care, then you know he is going to ration care.

Oh yea, I've looked around society lately, maybe it's just the area I live in, but most people around here want the government out of their lives.

My proposal is that we take tax money and work out a deal with some other countries and send the people that want to live off the government teat for a living to live in a country that will provide that for them.

This is ghoulish. Obama and the democrats can't control this from Washington. Obama wants to ration out healthcare in order to bring down health care cost in order to slow the growth of medicare.

Obama, Pelosi or Harry Reid are not qualified to make these decisions. This is between a Doctor and his patient.

I think people need to listen to what Obama is saying because it's truly ghoulish. He has said on several occassions that a Doctor shouldn't take all these tests or maybe a woman doesn't need surgery just a pill.

This is not about health care. This is about slowing the growth of medicare by rationing health care services.

Doctor's take tests to avoid lawsuits if they miss something but more importantly they do it to rule things out. They are not psychics or telepaths. So if you go in with a bruised elbow that can hardly move, they have to take X-Rays to make sure it's not broken. They can't just say, well I don't think it's broken and here's some Motrin.

This is what will happen under Obamacare. The Government will ration out healthcare services in order to slow the growth in Medicare.

Was that all just a big lie? I bet it was.
Health care reform means better health care not worse. We need more doctors; so we need incntives for the youth to go to college for health care. We also need more equal treatment; meaning it does not matter what type of insurance you have you can go to any DR. Actually what would make more sense is each person choses a Dr according to county so that a person does not have to drive 30 minutes away just to get health care.
I do not believe in government control but i believe in fairness. If the government does something out of fairness and good intentions I am for it. If the government does something just to exert more control I am against it 100%!

Good intentions are subjective and meaningless.

Everybody claims they have good intentions and this is how they gain more control.

They had good intentions when they said everyone should own a house so Freddie and Fannie went easy on guidlines to get a loan for a house and the it went bad. Now they want trillions of dollars to fix the problem.

The Government's only intention should be to protect the God Given rights of the individual not control there lives through big government.

What Obama and the democrats is talking about is horrible. They don't have good intentions. It's not about healthcare, it's about slowing the growth of medicare. Instead of cutting spending and adding prevention to the system, they want to ration out healthcare in order to artificially bring down health care costs.

They even have a provision in the bill that says old people need to talk to their Doctor's about dying with dignity.

This is between a person and their Doctor. What if they don't want to talk about dying? What if they are enjoying life and planning on riding it out until the wheels fall off?

In a free country, it's not the Government's business to tell people to talk to their Doctor about dying.

This is truly ghoulish stuff. Here's a provision in the bill they have not read.

I think, given that the member of Congress who drafted H.R. 3200 read and take seriously people like Klien, Yglesias, and Singer, we should be very troubled by Section 1233 of H.R. 3200. The section, titled “Advanced Care Planning Consultation” requires senior citizens to meet at least every 5 years with a doctor or nurse practitioner to discuss dying with dignity.

The section requires that they talk to their doctor, not a lawyer, about living wills, durable healthcare powers of attorney, hospice, etc. Given the progressive intelligentsia already being on the record in favor of euthanizing the elderly, it is no small leap to see where the Democrats are headed with this.

Legally forcing senior citizens to have “death with dignity schedules every few years is just another way to say the government wants to make sure seniors know it is time to commit suicide to save the system money.

And saving any medical system through encouraged deaths of the elderly or unborn is not a medical system worth having. The Hippocratic Oath requires doctors to “do no harm.” That’s meant toward the patient, not the costs to the government.

Obama has advisers and Czars who have talked about euthanizing people through the water supply and that some animals might be worth more than certain people with disabilities.

These are Obama's friends. He hangs around all of these radicals and we are supposed to believe he's immune to these crazy theories? All you have to do is listen and it plain to see Obama agrees with them.
