I am very sensitive to the Native American plight, but only as it stands currently, not 400 years ago.

But, the fact is, Someone was gonna invade here. If it wasn't Europe, it was gonna be shortly someone else.

Why did you limit your comments to North America? Are the inhabitants of South America somehow more legitimate? I don't know why that would be, since many of them are the direct decendents of the Conquistadores, who you tried to imply were the ancestors of current North American whites. Except that it would completely destroy the strawman that you were setting up.

Also please note that most Mexicans, Guatamalans, Hondurans, etc. also have ancestors who were the Spanish settlers of those areas.

First of all, not all white people are the decendents of the Pilgrims. In fact the vast majority of whites are decendents of people who immigrated to the US after the Civil War. Many of them were political and economic refugees who came here legally. Hmmm. So much for the "crusader" argument.

I would also like to point out that not all blacks in this country are the decendents of slaves. Our current President is a great case in point. None of Barrack's ancestors were slaves in the New World. Unless of course there is a black ancestor on his mother's side. This is quite possible but I have not seen any documented evidence of that yet.

Another great point is that there are virtually no "Native Americans" who are 100 percent native. So, which part of them is legitimate and which part is not? Should they cut off an arm or a leg and ship it back to Europe? Since many of them have ancestors who were French fur trappers, are they illegitimate too?

The history of the New World (both North and South America) is long and involved and it takes time to understand the intricacies and nuances of it.

It doesn't serve you well to make indictments of people based on their skin color or heritage. It only makes you look ignorant. By ignorant, I mean a willfull disregard of the facts.

Sovereign nations have the right to regulate immigration to their country. When people immigrate illegally a nation has the right to deport them.

Right now we have unemployment running at very high levels. Explain to me why someone who is in this country illegally should have any rights to employment over someone who is a legal resident of this country.

You really need to take the energy and focus on the problems that Indians face now, not then.

The reality is that illegal aliens should not be here. There is a path for legal immigration so there is really no reasonable excuse.

The reality is that FIRST, we need to take care of the people within our own borders before we start taking care of people outside our borders. By allowing ILLEGAL aliens to enter as they see fit, we do both a disservice to our own people but in the long run, them as well.

Again, your fantasy image of how the world SHOULD BE, sounds great but the reality of what the world IS, is vastly different.

War is reality. Difference equals strife. It has for a millenniums and will for thousands of years more. Whether you're speaking in terms of political, religious or any sort of separation from another group.

Unless you're willing to put aside all differences between you and the person with which you disagree (in this case, Americans that are anti-illegal immigration), then you really have no legs on which to stand.

Difference is what led people to expand out of Africa and seek new lands in which to settle. This went on for thousands and thousands of years, until nations and kingdoms arose. Since then, it's been whoever carries the biggest stick that really has the last say. And it's all because of difference.

If you want to change anything about it, you're going to have to invest a lot more than just time sitting down and typing up a thread about illegal immigration.

Don't mean to sound disheartening, but you're only fueling the fire. You're creating more angst and strife by dividing people, thus creating turmoil - that which has fueled this fire we've called civilization for tens of thousands of years.

Something else I find incredibly amusing (ironically sad) is that illegals seem to have more rights the US citizens.

I'm all for helping the other guy but not before I help my friends and family.

Well I didn't colonize the Americas, and I didn't enslave any Africans, even though my ancestors were mis-treated when they arrived here, I don't hold any grudges. And yes I am white Caucasian.

However I have spent my entire life here and I consider it my country. I believe I have the right to be angry with the people that come here illegally and do harm to our economical and social infrastructure. Do you still pay for the sins of your fathers? I don't.

You do know that the "Natives" they stole the land from and put into reservations were not here originally here right? I mean you have researched the fact that they were also immigrants to these lands right? I'm not saying any of this is O.K., but again, I see no need to pay for these sins.

Do you think they laid down and let them do that? Of course not, they fought the invaders. Well, it would be an injustice to not to do the same thing. We must fight for the land that they stole from people that stole it from someone else.
