Well for the past few months i've had a really eerie feeling. I feel like i'm being watched by something. Now i know that people are going to think that i'm just being paranoid, but this is strange. I don't mean the government. There's something abnormal about it.
When i go outside at night, it's like something is watching my every move from the woods. I can't place my finger on it. I can't even sit in my living room at night without covering the window on my front door.
If anyone could help me with some feedback on why this is happening it would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe there is more people with this same problem.

The first thing you should do is go and see your doctor to rule out any mental illness.

Paranoia is a symptom of several illnesses.

The OP just said "I know people are going to think I am just being paranoid, but.........."

Anyway, OP, I have heard other people saying that sort of thing of late. I think if you were just paranoid you wouldn't have made this thread.

I hope that there isn't anything lurking in your world, but remember the term "the veil is thinning"

out there it sounds to me like you are perfectly normal with what you have described. I know many people with the same feelings.

I'm 61 and have felt the same way since I was a young child. I laugh it off when friends are around and say I don't want the birds and raccoons to See me. When the sun sets my curtains are closed.

I don't smoke in my house so I go outside and sometimes I feel like someone is watching me.

I live in the woods and of course there is much wild life and without a doubt there are animals watching. I believe in God so who's to say there are not angels watching.

Mostly it's probably imagination that causes us to feel we are being watched. We are cruising ATS and reading about aliens, angels, creatures and many more abnormal events. Television and our reading matter also add to our minds imagination.

It is not an indication of mental illness as I have been to a doctor concerning this and he assures me it is very normal.

Our brains are very remarkable. We have many reactions that we have no control over like the fight or flight feelings in a time of imminent crisis. The feeling you are being watched may also be a natural self preservation instinct.

Relax and enjoy life.

This is a not-uncommon psychological phenomenon, and it's tied in with these perfectly natural human conditions:

Why we feel we aren't alone
Why we need to feel we aren't alone
Why we fear being alone
Why we fear not being able to find solitude.

The first is often caused by guilt. It might be over a small thing or over a big thing, but it becomes a sensation that someone else might know or might find out what we've done.

The second is frequently brought about by loss or disappointment, particularly when we are separated from people we love or trust.

The third can come from bereavement, either through death or a sense of abandonment. This is emotion occasionally related to religious experience and visions.

The last has been cited as deriving from a fear of the modern world, particularly cities, where everyone seems to be watching you. In large places, eye contact is so rare that when it happens it seems to be significant. It hardly ever is. And don't get me started on surveillance cameras .....

If you can find the source of this feeling for yourself, while it might not go away, at least you'll be able to deal with it.

Thank you for the reply's(even the mental illness one). I posted here on ats because this was the only place where i could get some positive feedback. I've had strange experiences in my life but this is different.
I've heard the term the veil is thinning before. So i have this question,

Can a person who doesn't know if they are sensitive to other "frequencies" sense this change and feel the strange foreboding energy that is coming through this "thinning"?

I have had the same feelings before and what you can do is to face your fears.
Set up a comfortable table and chairs outside and then go spend a few minutes each night just closing your eyes and breathing deeply, if scary thoughts emerge, realize that you have lost focus of your breathing. Concentrate only on the incoming and out going breath, nothing else, thoughts are like clouds in the sky, they come and go, but when thoughts arise know that you are not concentrating on the breath again and continue. If you feel more comfortable with a lit candle bring one along. In time this will help center you and the fear you feel will be replaced with wisdom and light. Feet planted firmly on the ground, back comfortable yet straight, feel as if your spine is attached to a helium balloon suspended above your head, it will help the chi flow in the spine to energize your senovial fluids. No mantra or visualization, just your breath your cleansing breath.

I always feel like someone is watching me, and I cant stand my closet door when it's not shut!

Have you had any paranormal activity around you, ever?

...anyone could be able to feel the energy!

Yes i have had paranormal activity happen to me. At the age of 13 i went to my cousins house for a visit. while sitting in the bedroom playing video games i heard creeking on the steps. I turned my head and looked out the doorway and didn't see anything. So i shut the door and went back to playing. 5 mins later the door opened up by itself. I looked in the hallway and nothing again. i decided to take take the outter door knob off and close the door that way it couldn't be opened. A few minutes after doing this the door opened again and i saw and heard a shadow walking up the steps. It turned the corner and went into my cousins room. This was in the middle of the day needless to say i ran out of the house and would sleep over anymore.
Now here is something people may not believe. Back in 2003, I, my brother, friend and cousin were driving down the highway in my car, when off to my left i saw a series of lights. While watching them one blinked off then came back on. Me being the driver, i decided to get off the next exit and find a place where we could see the lights. We rolled up to a clearing where there were trees on the left and right and just open space in the middle. The light was in the middle of the trees about 300yrds back.We sat there watching it and appeared to be getting closer to the car. Everybody started yelling to leave so i took off. We got into town all the while paying attention to the lights witch were pacing my car and then took off.
So yes i have had wierd things happen.

OutThere, you say you've been having these feelings "for the last few months".

So the obvious question is: when exactly and in what circumstances did you first become aware of them?

I am assuming you're living in the same place where you lived before these feelings arose.

If that is so, the first thing to do would be to thoroughly examine the place for any possible (new) sources of magnetic activity. You may know this already - or not - but, anyway, I think it bears repeating: it has been demonstrated that magnetic activity and/or radiation can produce exactly the feeling you are describing.

Also, as Marigold suggested, it is not a bad idea to check one's own mental health. Just because one is aware of possible paranoia it does not mean that one is NOT its victim. (Think of it as the reverse side of the old saying: "Just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean that you are NOT being watched."
)

The problem is precisely finding the right specialist. That is not easy as one would think - or, indeed, as it should be.

Meanwhile, examine yourself as honestly as you can for possible causes of stress and such. And don't forget to get your home examined for possible sources of geomagnetic activity or radiation.

Let's hope that'll do it.

Good luck!

Well i'm back. I went to the doctor and and a full examination done. Clean bill of health. There's no magnetic of elf energy near my house, so what can this feeling be?

I remember way back ... when I used to have friends.
One of them seemed very "knowing" to me....
anyway,
I remember one time when I was talking with her ... she asked me ... if I ever felt like people were watching me...

It was a long time ago, and I can not remember exactly what she said or how I felt about it.... ...but, I am pretty sure that I just wrote it off as her trying to imply that other humans were watching me ...or staring at me ...or something....
(I obviously did not feel like people were watching me, nor did I understand why she asked)

err... sorry .....I am a bad story teller....

skipping ahead : P

I now live in the same house, but now, I am accompanied by a few "ghosts" who are invisible, intelligent, and able to "see"...
They float around and seem to even be able to move through matter.... seemingly able to go inside of me or through walls....

errr... the details arent important I suppose.... especially since I don't know the details.... ..I don't even know the basics for sure.....

Soooo...
the point that I am trying to come to ... is that ... I was being watched for many years without me knowing it or ever even "feeling" it..

but now, here I am, knowingly being watched 24/7

I still can't feel it.... but... since I am lucky and the "ghosts" I hang out with are very kind, (they speak with me and show themselves... and entertain me like I am some kind of pet : P)

very very lucky....

I hear some people get "ghosts" that annoy them and even hurt them... some "ghosts" may even go as far as ruining your life and murdering you..

those "ghosts" are obviously not good people... err... "ghosts" ...err... people.... heh....

ahhh.... errr.... sorry, but I can't remember where I was going with this......

ehhh....

I will try to re-edit later... but it wont contain anything more useful...just a clean up

From the standpoint of mental health evaluation, that is impossible.
If that doctor really gave you a "clean bill of health", run for your life... away from him/her, I mean.
There is no single "full examination" in psychiatry or clinical psychology. Any such specialist - and it can only be done by them, NOT by GP (and, as I said before, even then it's difficult to find a good one) - would take much MUCH longer to examine you.
(And any really good psychologist knows that there is no such thing as a "clean bill of health" in mental matters - EVER.
)

Perhaps you should also consider seeking a second opinion regarding the geomagnetic/electric activity around the house.

A roundup and thorough - albeit "boring" - examination of all the possible factors will save you A LOT of trouble later on. ;-)

It's all a part of the cycle of life, I think. If we allow ourselves to remain open to the will of the universe as it passes by us, we'll naturally be more susceptible to intuiting things that we otherwise would miss.

That sense of foreboding is nothing new. I too feel it.

As for the sense that someone is watching you, it could be brought on by stress. I have that feeling a lot while sitting here at my computer. No one's there though. At least not that I can see anyway.
