Those videos show nothing and prove nothing.
Is the symbol of Islam not the crescent moon? This is because 'Allah' was originally one of many 'gods' and Muhammed picked this name from among all of them to represent his one true 'god'.

People claim that 'extremist' are not true Muslims, but I say that any Muslim has the potential to become an 'extremist' when they take the Koran to heart.
If one would just look at the Bible it shows us that Adam and Eve were the very first Jews created in a world already populated by mankind, and when Cain was sent away for killing Able he went into this world of people and began making a crossbred race.
When Ishmael was sent away by Moses in favor of Isaac, he went in the name of revenge and anger and brought about the Muslim people from this race of Jews and Africans. Muslim = 'mixed'.

The Bible also tells us that the coming kingdom of the Anti-Christ will be an Islamic kingdom. Is there any other religion on the planet that teaches it will conquer the entire world and convert everyone to their way except for Islam? Islam = 'submit'

This is why Jesus had to live and die so everyone, not just his own people but everyone could have a way to salvation. Jesus was the last of the great Biblical prophets sent here from God. Jesus was the Son of God, one with God and one in the same. Anyone coming after him and claiming to know the truth of God was and is a devil.
Lucifer created Islam, not Jehovah.

I absolutely know what socialism is, along with nationalism, communism and national socialism. I know when Europe gave up it's rights and let the government come in and run their homes with a cradle to the grave mentality, it was inevitable their individual identities would cease to exist with any power. Hence the almighty EU. So thank you for your condescending tone and remark.

I think most people are still missing the point of this thread.

It's not to determine which, if either, religion is more correct, but to question whether one should change something as fundamental as how they name their God to appease another.

No, muslims dont care what you call allah, its these people and reports that make it look like the Muslim world are out to get everyone.

in my honest opininion i think the bishop is a idiot and should have kept his mouth shut. or it could have been his way of adding more fuel to the fire and give something else for us to argue over.

and on a last note do you see any promernent muslim saying to all christains call God allah?

It makes no difference which WORD you use to describe your god (or lack there of). When people pray they call god "heavenly father" or "father" or "hold spirit" or "jesus" or "_______" all that matters is your intent/meaning with the word. The bible says do not take god's name in vain, so many christians will say oh my gosh instead of oh my god. That change in word means nothing because the intent is the same.

Well, although the article said the Muslims in the Netherlands have distanced themselves from the comment, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) seem to have embraced it:

Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, says the new name would reinforce the fact that Muslims, Christians and Jews all worship the same God.

no offence to you dj could you quote another source
i dont read fox or take in anything it says.

i will comment then about the spokesman

edit:
just read it

also no where does it say
that christains and so on should do it, but it would just show that we all worship the same God/allah and what ever jews say.

it just shows he likes the idea

This is not just about what name to call God.
It goes deeper in the fact that Jesus said that if you do not know him, you do not know his Father. Muslims do not know Jesus, therefore do NOT know the Father. The same is applied to Jews because they do not know Jesus.
If you do not know Jesus, you do not know God. So praying to this 'Allah' is fruitless because the prayers fall on def ears.

Jesus is known to as isa-aslum
he is seen as a prophet like many others sent down before/after him
and not the son of allah (God)

You see jesus (may rest be apon him) as the son of god
we see him as the prohpet

I don't get the impression this was a particularly serious suggestion, from the article this bishop seems rather prone to flippant remarks.

What's more interesting in how this story is being promoted, to reinforce Westerners fears about Islam somehow "taking over" (how this is going to happen is never explained) and get people all riled up at imaginary "appeasers" who are somehow going to hand over Europe and the US to Al Quaeda on a silver platter.

It's funny how easily people's tribal fears and hostilities are manipulated.

Hell, if it were up to me, all these religions would cease to exist.

Personally, I could care less what you guys want to call your imaginary friend.

That is what it is, an Imaginary Friend.... this imaginary friend just happens to be the sole cause for most if not all the wars the last 6000+ years.

Allah, God, The Boggy Man..... what is the difference? Either name results in one word.... WAR.

Maybe thats what we should call this imaginary friend.... WAR.

Even this topic, the result of it is going to be an online argument in the name of an imaginary figuer. Have fun with that.

I guess you can tell that I see relgious people like children in a play ground talking to them selfs about their imaginary tea party friends. You are all so imature and seemingly "stupid" to us "nonbelivers" of "God".

I've done some thinking on this subject and I think maybe religion is the justification leaders have used to rationalize wars. I think if you really look closely most wars are fought over resources, not philosophical difference.

Ok, so you are saying that your God would intentionally block out the prayers of one of his/her/it's children simply because they do not know Jesus.

Your God must be a mean, intollerant prick.

This is yet another example of how the cathoilc church has been over run by ideologies in direct contrast with its doctrine. It is irrelevant what the intended effect was. The time honored catholic church is under seige by humanistic ideals that although seem noble and benign, are really an effort to disolve the church amongst a prelaid path of discrepancies and inconsistancies that will eventually errode what dwindleing support it has. I wonder what this bishops after church activities are.......

If religion didn't exist then it would be fear of outsiders, more land, racism as the cause of war.

So,if i don't have "an imaginary friend" as someone called it above, and i don't pray to him,it means i live in fear of anyone and anything stranger to me,and that i might be a racist too ?
Strong implications on your above declamation i must say.I am a foreigner in my adoptive country,i am absolutely color blind, don't know anything about being racist, and have no idea why should i even be bothered with religion....
I'm not at all afraid of new things or new people or new ideas.I believe my mind is free to try to understand because it is not conditioned by some "religion"....each one of us carries inside him all that's required to be,or not to be human...but that's another thing
I see a lot of other people here thinking more or less like myself....i wonder why that is

That is to say if Jesus wasn't a crazy cultist with many followers that wandered around the desert.

Fact is, nobody knows, so lets just let people believe what they want to believe. Is these type of idiotic conflicts and zealotism that causes all these scuffles and battles.

The fast is Allah means, literally, in arabic, God. Just as germans say Gott or spanish people say Dios. Its a different way to say the same name, and its a branch of the same religion.

And if you want to get technical, ALL you christians are blaspheming, because the true name of god, according to the bible, is YHWH.

Utter it once, oh human over rash,
The universe were swallowed up in flame..."
