I'm going to Nevada on vacation next summer, yes that's a long time from now, but my parents (I'm 14) are planning the route and they said they would let me dedicate one day to Area-51!!! So I want to know where I should go, when, and how.

Also, I want everything to be legal

I think Rachel, NV is where you would want to go... got the extraterrestrial highway there, lots of touristy stuff...

Spend a night there, get away from the bright lights and stuff, keep an eye on the skies over the mountains.

Next day drive in to Nellis - check out this link to see if you can get a tour of Nellis AFB.
www.nellis.af.mil...

Also, Nellis is home the AF Thunderbirds....
They sometime have tours, give them a call - here's contact info:
www.airforce.com...

Hope you have a grand time and if you see some flying disks come back with pictures and post them here~

My family and I went to Vegas over christmas break this year and you should go on one of the atv tours, they're freakin awesome. The tour I was on took us through the Valley of Fire and swung by Area 51, I forget the name of the compan though. But theres plenty of them.

Coyote Summit is a good place to camp out. You'll pass it on the way to Rachel.

IMO, this is more of a chit-chat post than it is a M&GF post. Anyways, have a good trip.

I really doubt there is anything "legal" you can do that's interesting around Area51, even though I have never been there I don't think the gov is that stupid, they obviously know people always camp there and try to get a glimpse of what's going on there.

To tell you the truth I even think Area51 is just regular advanced aero research, I think it's more of a diversion from other bases than anything else.

DEFINITELY hit the Little A-Lee-Inn on the Extraterrestrial Highway, you'll have a good time.

So, were both 14, isn't that ironcic? Not to mention me and my friends are planning a trip too, although ours is more time expanded and more distant.

I have a lot of information and pictures as well as ways of getting to places you want to go (if you know what I mean)

Let me know if you want any info.

If you have a Police Scanner... you'll have fun with that... I have channels but to many to post. Hit places... Reno, Las Vegas (duh) [these have the Restricted areas near them].

www.aleinn.com/info/scanner.html

hope that went through.

Need any more info... let me know. There is a certain amount of stuff I can send on this site.

They are not really called police scanners. Those can ONLY listen to the police. And you really wouldn't want those. There are other more interesting things on many frequencies that most "radio scanners" or just "scanners" pick up that you would not want to miss. I would recommend stopping by Radio Shack and checking out what they have and what's in your price range. They often go on sale and are actually not that expensive for the ammount of fun and usefullness you can get out of them. They also come with booklets that teach you everything about them and how to use them too. I have a scanner and I really like it, they are pretty cool

I have one too, got it from Radio Shack... I know that's not what there called but, I was in a hurry typing. The real scanners can't get them all either. Mine was $100 I see them around $150 now, but that's here.

What do you mean by real scanners? I got a 150$ one, about only differences between cheap and real ones is how many channels you can store (incase you for some odd reason need to store a thousand frequencies) and how many frequency ranges you get. Buy whichever suits you best. Some frequency ranges you probably wont need.

Oh... oops... what I meant by Real Scanners, is by not Police Scanners.

And when I was talking the price... I just went ahead and got the cheaper one because of how much I had.
