OPENING ATS POINTS TALLY

A little ripple, not a hotbed of controversy...

Some new members when they start posting, accumulate ATS points from a base of zero.

Some other new members start with 1,000 as the baseline.

What's the difference?

Yep, as we speak, ResidentAlien vs Martinez is a good example. Both making initial posts, Martinez around a few weeks longer that RA.

Hmm... odd.

When the board code "sees" a new user that has no points, it first assumes they are an existing user, and attempts to calculate a points basis based on posting history. So, occasionally, for new users, there must be a glitch in their favor.

I noticed it a while ago. I joined not that long ago with zero points. Then some new member would post their hello thread and thet already had more points than me. I thought I was doing something wrong.
