That's a shame. I'm sorry to hear that.

But in reality, it's also that way in most places in the US too unless you live in or near a city.

I'm lucky. I live in a mid-sized city so I don't have to deal with many of the problems larger cities have.

I was born and lived in NYC for years. I'm done with that now. Too expensive and too much bullshi#t.

My guess, and it is only that, is that these notions are seen as a way of killing the mobility of ordinary folks. You know, if one can walk to everything, we can do away with those naughty automobiles, especially the internal combustion engine kind.

I've no problem with good urban planning, but would prefer it not be tainted with political ideology. Whether this is the case here, I'm not informed enough to say.
