I'm not sure how to tackle this , It seems like I'm just waiting for something reading the same magazines in a waiting room over and over . I need to change my life it's become a routine everyday the same thing over and over same routine again and again . I have witnessed things most have not experienced things most will not . I feel like I'm just in limbo standing with my hands out like begging for a response - This is not a religious post so don't need to go there .

I've suffered and experienced things "Normals' will never get close to . I'ts hard to adapt to the boredom .

Now i just sit and wait for something I have no Idea when it's actually going to happen could be today could be tomorrow could be years . I do not feel like I own my life or that i'm free so I hide away and shake my head at those who have no clue what life is really I actually kinda envy them- I've seen it all from Brazil to Mideast once my eyes were opened I went to the BeetleJuice waiting room .

If anyone else has experienced this kinda thing "I fix this just so it's broken again" Kinda thing let me know how you cope .

Oh boy, you hit the nail on the head for me currently. It’s 3:40pm here. I’m WAITING until 1am to leave my house and take a two hour drive to the airport. Then, I get to WAIT 2.5 hours for my flight to leave. Then I sit and WAIT on a plane for 2.5 hours to Houston. Then I sit and WAIT 3.5 hours for a connecting flight to Corpus Christi. Then sit and WAIT on the plane to there for over an hour. My next 22 hours BLOWS.

In all seriousness, I know exactly how you feel as a whole. I feel the same as you about my life. It’s pure boring redundancy. I don’t have any answers for you, except to keep yourself busy. It’s when I’m doing nothing and not being active that is when it really gets to me, in the form of depression.

I’d also like to hear about the ‘experiences’ you brought up. After all, what else are we here for?

I understand you totally. I have the same feeling. But my guts tells me that you will not have to wait much longer.

Sounds like coming back from an overseas deployment.

Find a hobby, go find a trail to hike, get into horsies or something. Lay off the booze. Hit the gym.

Great advice! I forgot to mention the booze aspect. Alcohol kills motivation. All it produces is complacency.

It sounds like you slipped into a bit of a rut there Ravenwatcher.

I did the same a few years back.

It seems that you have had an interesting and adventurous life so far. Was there an event that slowed things down or are you just fed up?

The more I got tied down with career and responsibilities the more I felt like I was sitting in the waiting room that you speak of.

Eventually I ended up taking some time and experienced some self made adventures.

Did some simple things to help others and took time out to create a few situations that got the juices flowing again.

For me that was getting competitive in trap and skeet again, went on an overland trip, and helped out building a habitat for humanity house in our community.

That blew the cobwebs away for me.

Try rekindling an old hobby, do something you haven’t done for years, or try something new.

I hope that helps

Dang! 22 hrs? Are you traveling back from overseas or all CONUS?

My rule of thumb is if the travel can be accomplished by 12 hr car drive or less, I drive. It’s it’s longer than the one way 12 hr rule, then fly.

Yeah, redundancies and being complacent does get old fast sitting at home. That’s why I said find something of interest to physically do outside. Reading books is great, but ya still need physical activities outdoors, or the mind goes nuts.

Then why don't you write a book, story, screenplay and tell us normies about your experiences.

Since I've started writing; no more boredom and some $$$. This is what I use...

www.finaldraft.com...

And now with the help of a few venture capitalist, I'm a producer. Normies' love to watch netflix and live vicariously thru other peoples experiences. People are shooting reality TV with their crappy LG cell phones and lights from Harbor Freight and selling it to streaming services.
I was lucky, an ex producer from "days of our Lives" showed me the ropes as I was working on his attempt at filmmaking, that sold even before the film was finished.

I don't know if you're from the States but I know at the very least you live in a Fully Developed Country .

Only a Modern Human who lives in a Developed country with everything at their fingertips could feel like this . Other people across the globe wake up each day into a Life or Death Struggle .

That being said I can completely connect with you on this feeling mate. I think it is a signal of a Turning point in our world whether for good or bad I've no idea .

But I'm an optimist , We need Struggle as humans We nee something to bring us together into the next chapter of our evolution .

I feel like this.

Not to belittle the advice given by others, which is good, I think this is depression and the problem is that you might not want to go to the gym, perform outdoor activities or take up a hobby.

It's like this lack of enjoyment in what others might really enjoy. I mean "Find something you enjoy" is solid advice unless you can't find what that is.

Your title just inspired me to write a film treatment about an exmilitary guy deciding to start playing poker to relieve his angst/ boredom. In the Casino he wins big and then his real adventure starts when he meets........to be continued.

inspiration is everywhere

The point is, the healthier you are - the better you feel. Physically and mentally.

I won’t lie, I struggle with the positive routines the older I get. However, there is no denying how much better I feel when I don’t drink, eat healthy, and exercise. I never have depression when I’m doing all three. Additional, my mind is crisp when I do and it sparks more intrigue.

I totally get what you are saying, the thing is that let's say we make a list of 20 things/hobbies that someone may enjoy and they might try them and not enjoy any of them.

So the point was, what happens if the person just doesn't enjoy anything, a casebook curmudgeon. "Get busy living or get busy dying" seems to be the only thing left.

Yes, I sound like a total nihilist.

Well like you said above , That is a Classic case of Depression. Either a Chemical imbalance or something far deeper and worse depending on your Esoteric/Spiritual beliefs .

Exercise , Diet and an over all healthy Social life should be enough to make 98% of people happy .

I don't think anyone here is in a position to diagnose any specific case.

Of course I am speaking in general terms in regards to the possibility of cases where someone is just unhappy in life but not to the point of going to bad places.

I'm mincing my words here because I have had posts removed when I mention what those dark places might be and given the quote I posted above I think most here get what I'm talking about.

Still, my point is that you might feel unfulfilled by whatever is going on in your day to day, without thinking of doing something drastic, but still there you are sitting in the waiting room just the same and cue the music:

I've gotten that feeling before. Quitting a vice, picking up a hobby, or volunteering to help those in need are good ways to get out of the funk.
