I've always thought America had good checks and balances with the wider teachings of our universities with whatever dogma was generally absorbed before "higher education" at home secondary schools etc. We know the MSM isn't exactly unbiased either

Now however we have lost or are losing the balance.

Not going to lie the mashup of everybody thinking they must go to college, with 86% stating they learn about the conflict on social media, is the most concerning trend I hear about America's future. There is very little fact-checking, or reading learning from other sources, hell even on legit sites the comments are chock full of propagandized BS. Still, see posts about Israeli copters firing at the Nova music festival which is a known complete falsehood. No doubt an organized foreign effort mixed with the domestic ill-informed is a dangerous mix.

The internet initially was fantastic for reading and learning about current events and history, now every headline article or comment needs to be vetted and researched for accuracy as all social media contributors aren't concerned about being factually correct, or concise but the clicks views, and likes.

My generation didn't care and basically felt all sides were manipulating at best, thieving and corrupt at worst, Nixon wasn't an outlier he was an example.

A new survey reveals that 22% of college students sympathize with Hamas. Roughly a quarter of U.S. college students are confident in their knowledge about the war between Israel and Hamas, with 6% saying they’re extremely knowledgeable, and 19% saying they’re very knowledgeable.

Social media is the most common source of information about these issues for students. Eighty-six percent of college students say they’ve learned about the conflict and/or current war on social media.

Among the 99% of respondents who say they’ve used social media in the past three weeks, 32% say they see information about these issues all the time on social media, while 41% say they do often. Additionally, 19% say they see information about these issues some of the time, while 6% say not very often. Only 1% of social media users say they never see related information on their channels.

Students also have learned about the Israel-Palestine conflict and Israel-Hamas war through news articles (62%), talking directly to others (58%), televised news (56%), and podcasts (17%).

Nearly half of students, 48%, say they’re somewhat knowledgeable on the most recent conflict, while 23% are not very knowledgeable. Only 4% of students say they’re not knowledgeable at all.

“College students often feel compelled to stay informed about global events and to engage in meaningful discourse, both in and out of the classroom,” says Eric Eng, a college admission expert and the founder and CEO of AdmissionSight. “This sense of responsibility, particularly in our information age, could account for the number of students who claim to be ‘very knowledgeable’ about the situation. Yet, it’s worth noting that being informed doesn’t necessarily equate to a comprehensive understanding of such complex issues.”

We've lost the war when 20% care more for the rapists than of the babies killed, women raped, people killed.

Hell, I have 28 years in the military and another 15 deep in Afghanistan and I truly sympathize with the millions of innocents that want the same thing as we all want. A good life of a prosperous career, to see your kids do better than you, and to drift off into a blissful ending that during your life you did good.

Gaza could be that today except for two things... First, they did not accept their chance to be a country when Israel did accept, as they wanted all of the areas, and second, when Hamas took over.

So it is funny... I had kids late in life at 38 and my wife was 30. My kids today though being Z generation one is now an electrical engineer and the other will be a doctor starting in the Army. Both were high school star athletes and their whole life, being the boomer that I am, never gave them anything they didn't earn. They laugh today about how bad they were in early sports to where I could not go and watch and how much I told them that they sucked on a level as to why I could not watch, BUT the day I did BOY did that tell them something.

They have zero student loans and doing well with no need for all the issues kids have today while being right there with the kids today.

I guess I was just another boomer bad dad.

Yes but respectfully it isn't just about the 1/4 it's about the over 3/4ths getting informed on social media ONLY

Not to mention "most" times in the past our 1/4 didn't ascend to positions of power, control of industries, or even positions of influence.

Before you would run into the 1/4th while they were pumping gas, doing landscaping, at church. Now they have a million followers agreeing with their comments because their only source of news and current events is social media.

People like to discuss echo chambers this is what social media is especially for those seeking higher education.

I disagree, do you see what is happening in the world today? Wokeness has outlived its welcome. I think about the time Bill Mahler said WTF are they doing they lost. We need to all understand that one guy in their mom's basement can look like 10,000 people online, but there is a huge number of the moderate left that has been the silent majority as all this crap has gone down and now they are saying WTF too.

People here have no clue about the number of gay friends I have that say men are men and women are women and just shake their heads in disbelief in the many directions all this crap has spiraled out of control including pronouns has gone. I have gay friends that go off on pronouns and I'm the one saying hey if they want it let them have it, and my gay friends say F that I'm not playing...lol

We see the world changing from Ireland to the Netherlands, to Venezuela which went from hard socialist to F that, to France, and so on and so forth. The left had it all and they decided to go wacko and now the WORLD is correcting back.

People are tired of the extremes and they want their lives back and their paychecks to make ends meet. They are tired of the segregated society and the blame game that whites are evil for everything. They are tired of dozens of other things that we all know,

has already been warned by the FBI that terrorist groups are using US media to manipulate public opinion, also our schools and colleges are infiltrated by radical groups, including anything you can imagine, but terrorist sympathizers are in the prowl for young people that can be manipulated, also been warned by the FBI.

Still I want also to be back when life was easier, when we used to squash extremism, when our government worked for us first.

I do not think American will go back ever to before the ideologies that are plaguing the youth today, they are too confused, schools are no helping and families neither.

I probably didn't frame the thread properly

It's not really about the IQ here Xtrozero, it's about the majority in our universities are full of persons being ill-informed and with platforms that continue the questionable indoctrination of a sizable chunk of the population

I have faith in Gen Z... But yes, do people not remember 2010 when racism was dead and we all lived in a world without color? That wasn't good for the left so they needed to revivie it like they do with abortion. Without those two things, they have no platform.

It starts with IQ and what you can be bamboozled into thinking. If you challenge these people they can't get past the first layer of what they are protesting. 50% of the people going to our universities should not be there, they should be learning skill-based careers. They can F around and find out as they leave their universities and people like me are the hiring director for their job.

The left went crazy these last 5+ years and people now are saying OK enough, time to grow up and it will not be pretty for them.

Omfg.

What war?! I mean sure, it’s coming. But no one likes rapists anyway. Nor US college students for that matter.

But we lost the war when we let identity politics take over for what use to be fearsome war-fighters.

Was a CSG group sunk? Did we launch those missiles from that sub yet? Has the CIA mismanaged their attempt to assassinate Iranian leadership?

Yawn.

I know the positives of foregoing a "college degree".

It isn't about that either the fact is though you may be successful sans a degree doesn't address the masses going to college and the other chunk that also live on social media.

I'm lucky my daughters were well out of college by the time this has all been hyped up

But respectfully the point is exactly nobody is challenging them to the indoctrination they are receiving unless we are going to call and talk to them one by one. Not to mention 90% of them wouldn't listen to an old fart like me even if I could talk to every one of them. A little bit of that is restless immaturity but younger generations don't exactly respect the older generations thoughts on a lot of issues. A long with likely much more engaged with current events than my generation would ever be yours too probably, I'd wager less than 15% of my senior class in high school would have been interested in protesting anything much less actually doing so.

Now they are getting lots of participation in all kinds of protests and they believe they do not need to be explained too, these ill-informed kids want to do the explaining to you.

Netanyahu backed off when the time was right to go for the hamas leadership snake heads.

He could have avoided the blood shed spilled with the dead of Israelis at the hands of hamas attack on oct.
