Found this strange structure in Egypt while playing around with google earth.
Looks out of place compared the other things in the area, any idea what it could be ?

Military view--

Possibly an emplacement for a surface-to-air missile battery.

Cheers

Yep, my first thought, too.

looking at the time laps on Earthpro, it seems like the structure was already there in 2007 and nothing changed to the site since then.

It looks like an old or disused SAM site as others have suggested.

I'm guessing it's all part of the Berenice military base which sits on the red sea east of there, I can provide links but I'm on phone.

It's a big base which does a lot of training in the area from what I gather, there's a lot more sites like this nearby too, one to the northwest towards Aswan. I'm guessing there's loads of stuff and evidence of air force training, seems to be a few craters to the NE too.

What stood out to me was the ruins to the NE. Follow the road NE till it meets another heading north. Directly east of that is a rocky outcrop of sorts with ruins in the middle.

23.9461935, 33.0209364 ruins site
23.9534256, 32.9951764 another military installation with "SAM pads"
23.9362795, 33.0211198 bombing runs evidence and groundworks training
23.9399099, 33.0212985 more impact craters

Yeah I'd assume this is a test area of sorts, if the craters were from bomb test runs I'd say they were fairly large demolition bombs... Could've been testing something like SCUDs in the area once upon a time too, those craters are 20ft in diameter so at a guess 10000lb and above? Probably missiles...

Picture a). Only a coincidence that the part in the middle looks exactly like a "flying saucer"?

I suppose it also looks like "Great A'Tuin" from above.

It is. Plenty of them all along the coast road down the Red Sea.

I have a picture, let me find it.

Add: I thought I caught it on video years ago while driving to the airport in Marsa Alam in a taxi. But it was only a radar station. Anyways, these exist in Egypt, they also exist in forms of simple sloped ramps where trucks with rocket launchers are positioned. Also dishes.

Egypt is very militarized. It is common to see military with AKs in front of Hotels and especially the Sea Ports and airfields. Road blocks every 30-50km. I was not there for more than ten years, not since before the revolution, though. But it's typical Egypt for me. I like the country and the people, very guest friendly.
