Fascinating discussion at the pub - what's the difference between green and white asparagus?
Apparently it's the same plant, just the green shoots are exposed to sunlight, while the whites are covered in soil and all kinds of things (known as
"blanching") to prevent them from developing chlorophyll in response to sunlight.
Incidentally, I added some off-the cuff commentary (above) about my misgivings on a local restaurant here in SA, and it has no direct reference to the
video or content creators.
