This isn't news or anything, but I found it interesting. I asked GPT to give me the top 10 presidential candidates, after it's usually qualifiers, it provided a list based on criteria it determined to be most important. I think a lot of the names on the list are crazy but I found it interesting to see where the general thinking of AI is on the subject - based on the trash it's been fed from existing media.

My Question:
Based on all the information you know, who would be the top ten best choices for President of the United States? You should list people who would have the greatest positive impact relative to their negative impact.

ChatGPT Response:
As an AI language model, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions, nor can I endorse any specific political candidate or party. However, I can offer some general guidance on what factors could be considered when evaluating potential presidential candidates.

When evaluating potential candidates, it is important to consider their experience, qualifications, and track record, as well as their policy proposals and values. Here are some potential criteria that could be considered:

Leadership experience: Does the candidate have a track record of effective leadership, either in government or in the private sector?

Political experience: Has the candidate held elected office before, and if so, have they been effective at getting things done and working across the aisle?

Policy proposals: What are the candidate's policy proposals, and how would they impact the country and its citizens?

Character and values: Does the candidate have a strong moral compass, and do their values align with those of the American people?

Communication skills: Is the candidate an effective communicator who can inspire and motivate people, and who can effectively represent the United States on the world stage?

Based on these criteria, some potential candidates who have been mentioned in the media or by political analysts as potential contenders for the presidency include:

Kamala Harris
Pete Buttigieg
Elizabeth Warren
Cory Booker
Andrew Yang
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Tim Kaine
Stacey Abrams
Amy Klobuchar
Beto O'Rourke

However, it is important to note that this is not an exhaustive list, and that there are many other potential candidates who could meet these criteria and have a positive impact on the country if elected. Ultimately, the decision of who to support for president is a personal one that should be based on careful consideration of each candidate's qualifications, values, and policy proposals.

Maybe we should stop calling it "Artificial Intelligence" and start calling it "Artificial stupidity."

Given this and other recent revelations, I think that moniker would be much more appropriate. I guess it goes to fit the old IT axiom GIGO.

The point of the exchange was to identify key factors which can be independently evaluated, as opposed to AI telling its audience what to think. In that objective, the bot was useful.

I agree that it was useful in that sense. The system wasn't trained on anything after 2019 either so I imagine its response is heavily impacted by whatever mainstream news was available around that time - which doesn't always reflect reality.

This is a very interesting exercise; using chatbots to evaluate certain things and then checking over a period of time (months, perhaps) to see how the chatbot's recommendations change.

It would also be interesting (anyone else in on this?) to have several people ask the exact same question to the same chatbot and see if the answers are different. It's quite possible that they would be, given all the information present in most people's browsers.

So when we start pretending AI is god, which I'm sure we'll head in that direction since we're letting it do stock predictions for us now... Whatever AI says will be the word.

So all of you rightists better start preparing now. If this isn't an eye opener to your near future, I don't know what is. Keep in mind, AI will be the new judge and jury in our future; telling us how to live and die and what laws we've broken and so forth. oh just wait. It's a commin! Even libertarians wont be safe!

Better sign up Democrat now to save your butts!

After reading the list, occurred to me that AI doesn’t have our best interest at heart, and may be trying to destroy the world.

Elizabeth Warren
Cory Booker

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Tim Kaine
Stacey Abrams
Amy Klobuchar

True. Anything this system puts out will be considered "Facts". Even today, people push crazy ideas as Facts, and we can't even keep up. Imagine when you have the smartest machines in the world doing it on a global scale.

But AIs are clearly not biased at all in their programming ...

They're also still dumb. Mayor Pete went from mayor of a middling size town to transportation sec. where his tenure has been a disaster. So that qualifies him to be president?!

That's just down the block from assigning AI to evaluate all presidential nominees and qualifying them for office instead of letting money do all the talking.

So in the interest of conversation AND to satisfy my intellectual curiosity, I asked the exact same question of ChatGPT but inserted the word, "Republican."

Here's the response:

Based on all the information you know, who would be the top ten best REPUBLICAN choices for President of th[e United States? You should list people who would have the greatest positive impact relative to their negative impact.

As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions or preferences, but I can provide you with a list of ten prominent Republicans who have been considered as potential presidential candidates and have had significant positive impact relative to their negative impact based on information available up until September 2021. It's important to note that political opinions and circumstances can change over time, so this list may not reflect the current state of affairs. Here are ten individuals who have been influential within the Republican Party:

Condoleezza Rice: Former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Rice is highly respected for her foreign policy expertise and leadership skills.

Nikki Haley: Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Haley has shown strong diplomatic abilities and has experience in both domestic and international affairs.

Larry Hogan: The Governor of Maryland, Hogan is known for his bipartisan approach and successful governance in a traditionally Democratic state.

Mike Pence: Former Vice President of the United States, Pence has extensive experience in both executive and legislative branches of government.

Tim Scott: U.S. Senator from South Carolina, Scott is widely regarded for his commitment to conservative principles and his efforts on criminal justice reform.

Tom Cotton: U.S. Senator from Arkansas, Cotton is known for his strong stance on national security and defense issues.

Ben Sasse: U.S. Senator from Nebraska, Sasse has earned a reputation for his intellectual rigor and willingness to challenge party orthodoxy.

Jon Huntsman Jr.: Former Governor of Utah and U.S. Ambassador to China, Huntsman has a background in international relations and has demonstrated a pragmatic approach to governance.

Doug Ducey: The Governor of Arizona, Ducey has been praised for his economic policies and leadership during challenging times.

Dan Crenshaw: U.S. Representative from Texas, Crenshaw is a former Navy SEAL and has gained popularity for his conservative views and pragmatic approach to policymaking.

It's worth noting that political landscapes are dynamic, and new candidates may emerge or gain prominence in the future. Additionally, the assessment of a politician's impact can be subjective and vary depending on individual perspectives and priorities.

As you see, pure copypasta on my part.

As a Democrat, there's nobody there that generates a knee-jerk "NEVER!" response (unlike Ted "let me go to Cancun while you freeze in your house, peasant" Cruz (okay... I'm frosty about him but we were one of millions without power in the ice and cold) or DeSantis or Abbot (I loathe the governor of Texas.)

There are a few on the list that I would think reasonably favorably about - Rice, Hogan, Sasse and Ducey seem like the sort who could work with both parties (essential point when I consider who I will vote for)

So, conservative folks, what do you think of ChatGPT's suggestions for the Republican party?

And because I'm such a wicked creature, I asked the same question but asked for the WORST choice.

And here we go:

As an AI language model, I don't possess personal opinions or biases. It would be inappropriate for me to label individuals as the "worst" choices for President, as political preferences and opinions vary greatly among people. Additionally, political assessments can change over time and depend on specific contexts and circumstances.

However, I can provide a list of ten Republican politicians who have faced criticism or controversy in the past, based on the information available up until my last training update in September 2021. It's important to note that this list is not exhaustive, and it does not imply that these individuals would have the greatest negative impact or that they would necessarily be the worst choices for President. Political opinions should be formed based on a comprehensive understanding of a candidate's policies, character, and qualifications.

Donald Trump - Former President of the United States, known for his divisive rhetoric and controversial policies.
Ted Cruz - U.S. Senator from Texas, criticized for his role in the 2021 Capitol insurrection and for his confrontational style.
Rand Paul - U.S. Senator from Kentucky, known for his libertarian views and controversial positions on various issues.
Marjorie Taylor Greene - U.S. Representative from Georgia, has faced criticism for promoting conspiracy theories and making controversial statements.
Josh Hawley - U.S. Senator from Missouri, faced criticism for challenging the Electoral College results and for his handling of the Capitol insurrection.
Ron DeSantis - Governor of Florida, controversial for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and for passing controversial legislation.
Lindsey Graham - U.S. Senator from South Carolina, has faced criticism for his shifting positions and close association with Donald Trump.
Matt Gaetz - U.S. Representative from Florida, faced allegations of sexual misconduct and is currently under investigation.
Mike Pompeo - Former Secretary of State, faced criticism for his handling of foreign policy and for his controversial statements.
Sarah Palin - Former Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential candidate, faced criticism for her lack of experience and controversial statements during the 2008 election.
Remember, political assessments and opinions can vary widely, and it's important to consider multiple perspectives and sources of information when forming your own judgments about political figures.

I actually would agree with this list. If you matched any of them up against a large sloth, I would vote for the sloth first.

Now... in the interest of fairness (and because it's fun) I asked for the worst Democrat choices:

ChatGPT
As an AI language model, I don't possess personal opinions or biases. However, I can provide you with a list of ten Democrats who have been controversial or have faced criticism in the past. It's important to note that the perception of a politician's positive or negative impact can vary widely depending on individual perspectives and political leanings. Here is a list of ten Democrats who have been subject to criticism, but it's essential to conduct further research and form your own informed opinion:

Hillary Clinton: Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton has been a polarizing figure, drawing criticism for various reasons, including her handling of the Benghazi attack and controversy surrounding her private email server.

Joe Biden: While President Joe Biden is currently serving as the 46th President of the United States, his policies and decisions have faced criticism from various quarters. Critics cite concerns regarding his stance on immigration, tax policies, and foreign policy decisions.

Nancy Pelosi: As the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has faced criticism from conservative circles for her liberal policies and partisan approach. Detractors argue that her leadership style contributes to political division and gridlock.

Elizabeth Warren: Senator Elizabeth Warren has been a controversial figure due to her progressive policy proposals, including wealth redistribution plans and the establishment of a government-run healthcare system. Critics argue that her policies could have a negative impact on the economy and individual liberties.

Bernie Sanders: A self-proclaimed democratic socialist, Senator Bernie Sanders has faced criticism for his policy ideas, such as Medicare for All and tuition-free college education. Critics argue that his proposals could be economically unfeasible and lead to increased government control.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Known for her advocacy of the Green New Deal and progressive policies, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has drawn both praise and criticism. Critics argue that her policies could have negative consequences for the economy and individual freedoms.

Ilhan Omar: Representative Ilhan Omar has been a lightning rod for controversy due to her statements on foreign policy, particularly regarding Israel. Her remarks have drawn accusations of anti-Semitism and have been criticized for being divisive.

Andrew Cuomo: Former Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, faced criticism for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, including allegations of underreporting nursing home deaths. His leadership style and personal conduct have also been subject to scrutiny.

Kamala Harris: Vice President Kamala Harris has faced criticism from various quarters, including concerns about her prosecutorial record as a former Attorney General of California and her approach to criminal justice issues.

Maxine Waters: Representative Maxine Waters has been criticized for her controversial remarks and confrontational style. Her comments on political opponents and calls for public confrontation have drawn both support and condemnation.

Remember that this list represents individuals who have faced criticism, but it's crucial to research their policies, actions, and positions more extensively to form a comprehensive and informed opinion.

And I actually agree that the list here is of very controversial figures who are unlikely to draw Republican votes and who have a limited appeal to Independents.

So there we go.

Curiosity satisfied!

How about the least controversial philanthropic leaders in either party? People who aren't especially known for holding office or political baton waving but are notable for their participation in local community building. Something in the vein of MrBeast or Ashton Kutcher.
