Why the US Power Grid is Under Attack

Over the last few months I've heard a lot of stories about power stations and food processing facilities being destroyed by fires or even deliberate attacks. At first I didn't think much of it, I assumed people were probably just looking for those stories so they were being discussed more than usual. Then yesterday I saw a video in my YouTube feed from VICE titled "Why the US Power Grid is Under Attack" and they say there has been a large rise in attacks recently. After watching this video it's clear something very sinister is happening.

Even though VICE has a fairly strong left bias, I still have to respect their on the ground reporting style, often in very dangerous situations. For example they recently did quite a good report on the chemical spill in Ohio where they interviewed people impacted by the disaster. So based on the title of the video I was expecting them to interview some guys in masks explaining why they are attacking power stations. Instead they interview an "expert", a typical pseudo-intellectual liberal who provides us with this chunk of wisdom:

It's really consistent with the tactics of anti-democracy and white nationalist groups in our region. These are groups that are seeking to build political power. Their goal is to exhaust and collapse local government, make local government look weak. And you know, it's part of a spectrum of attacks on democracy. It may seem distinct from things like anti-vaccine protests or disrupting local commission and school board meetings but it's all consistent with the goals of these groups.

Of course I should have known... the right wingers (who also tend to be religious) are obviously to blame for these attacks which could impact hospitals and other critical services. I doubt there is even a single right winger on ATS who would condone this sort of activity. And if there are any right wing groups out there who think this is a good way of "fighting the man", let me ask, what the hell is wrong with you? Having said that, I highly doubt we're being given a real answer in this video, otherwise they would show some proof.

If it's happening so often surely the police have caught some of the culprits. Has anyone been caught for these crimes and who exactly were they? Allow me to also point out, it's often people on the left who are railing against energy companies, shutting down power plants, closing pipe lines (or blowing them up). Not to mention their general anti-human attitude which seems hellbent on destroying the very fabric of our society so they can "build back better" or some other delusional reason. Nah, must have been the white nationalists.

My speculation is... it's sleeper cells of Putin's people. He's been hating what happened to Russia and has been planning a conflict for a long time.

I think it's Russians who have come here over the years and got naturalized, became citizens, whatever. And now they're waking up, or getting directives, and sabotaging American infrastructure.

And our government is being quiet on it because it means war. If it was domestic terrorism we'd be hearing about it non stop. It's the eerie silence on these obviously connected attacks that to me screams foreign actions.

Honestly that is a more probable explanation than the dumb theory they present in this video. After the US/UK blew up the Nord Stream they may have felt some retaliation was warranted. But would they really do it in an amateurish under-the-radar way that doesn't really disrupt anything for a long period of time?

Clearly it's the country just north of the US.
We need to keep those Canadians in check man.
Otherwise the United States will be no more.

Really? In every attack on the power grid, Ive seen those responsible were normal dumbass American jackwads or crooks

Google power transformer sabotage

news plenty of accounts plenty of arrests or suspects

1. The left always falsely accuses opponents of doing exactly the violent actions the left actually engages in, e.g. Antifa violent destructive protests

2. When caught, the left always rationalizes violent action as being OK because of "gender"/"racism"/"climate cult"/etc

3. The left includes loony bin anti-technology extremists like Extinction Rebellion

4. The left has tacit approval of Democrats; as we saw in Portland and Seattle, they are almost NEVER prosecuted

5. The MSM buries the story if remotely connected to the left.

Facts at this point:
- few have been caught or charged in these power station attacks, 96 attacks in 2022, ONE group charged in ONE case
- the MSM is burying the story
- Democrats are burying the story
- the left is burying the story

Occam's razor:
The left is thus very likely responsible

I wouldn't be surprised to find out it is just random young hackers trying to do things for street cred or something. It's not always some large group or political nutjobs.

ANTIFA comes to mind. Those nuts are not a cohesive group and this would be something people of that mindset would do. They think random acts of violence or destruction of property are a good way to get their message out, but I think in reality they just get off on causing trouble doing things like this. They are too dumb and into themselves to understand that taking a dump in your own backyard is something even dogs won't do given a choice. Their prefrontal cortexes are defective.

I find Vice interesting, but more from a carnival sideshow-style perspective. The conclusions they draw are so biased it negates them as a good source.

All the above says is the author does not have a clue so they use the opportunity to fabricate their own version of reality without an inkling of whether it's true or not. Never let a good propaganda opportunity go to waste.

Food plants were destroyed at unheard of records and attacks on the power grid increased 77% in 2022. When they don't tell us the name or show a picture of the perps but rather 'suspect right-wing domestic terrorism' you can bet they're hiding info that would be a dead giveaway to some ethnic group.

They do the same thing with 'mass shootings'. Create public outcry with a few days of non-stop right-wing-domestic-terrorists are suspected, then do a 10 second blurb on the perp, who happens to be a minority or good old USA hating 'migrant'.

As long as days are spent on the 'suggestion' and only seconds on the truth, most people won't even notice when the truth briefly comes out.

It's all in who, or what, the "target" is, isn't it?

Left-wing "environmentalists" attack power plants and pipelines to draw attention to the "damage" such installations do to the environment. As such, they seek the support of the public at large by maximizing the financial costs to the energy industries, while minimizing the direct inconvenience suffered by the public.

These "right-wing" attacks, on the other hand, seek to maximize the inconvenience suffered by the public as a way to sow anger and rejection of the sitting authorities, with the ultimate goal of replacing said authorities with their own members....or eliminating organized governmental authority altogether.

You do realize that a world without power plants and running water is far more in line with right-wing "prepper culture" than it is with left-wing "socialist Utopia" visions.

Problem is, the Far Right does the same and rationalizes in the same way. The nuts running around the woods in camo practicing pretend war are just as out of touch as the ANTIFA clowns. God help us if they ever join forces.

So you just assume the suspects are from a specific ethnic group or migrants with zero proof?
Ok

Yes, and Antifa ARE leftists.

EU, N. KOREA, RUSSIA, CHINA DAMN NEAR ANYONE AT THIS POINT. We blew up NS2, lied about it. We blew up the war in Ukraine and lied about it. We "shot down" a "China spy balloon" and lied about it. We "shot down" "UAPS" and lied about it. We created c-19 with China and lied about it.... I could keep going but I only have 6 hours left of work...

Well I would define Antifa as a group of leftist political nutjobs who have very political reasons for their actions.

We'll see.

I find it peculiar that out of 96 attacks last year, only ONE group for ONE attack was charged.

Like the politicians in power WANT this to happen.

I'm more of just give me the facts kind of person. I see both radical groups from the Right and Left as being cut from the same cloth.

In this case though, since it's not known to the public who did what, it's just fiction.

"QED" - Not really as it could be from either side or neither.

I'm not jaded enough to say they wanted it to happen, but it's more like since it happened let's capitalize on it.

Most big ideologies have extreme minorities. It’s easy for them just jump the moral hurdles when they believe they’re fighting the good fight.

And the broader base always downplays it or points out the other side is worse.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find any of them did this.

Though, the side with the most to gain would be one to try and pin this on Russia (if this was domestic culprits).
