It is indeed catastrophic! I can't begin to imagine what we are going to be seeing and hearing over the next week.

It's too bad we gave all of our aid and $$ to Ukraine, as its looking like these places are going to need tremendous help.

I've only walked away from following the news for 3 hours and the figures have jumped to:
Turkey = 2,379, Syria 1,380 = 3,768.
I dread to think what it will go up to overnight.
Why are we not hearing anything about Syria?

PS, update, Syria has gone up to 1,444

Frank Hoogerbeets Obvious critical planetary geometry
there will be a ~M 7.5 #earthquake in this region
(South-Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon).
2 Feb Larger seismic activity may occur from
4 to 6 February, most likely up to mid or
high 6 magnitude. There is a slight possibility of
a larger seismic event around 4 February.
. Frank Hoogerbeets Similar geometry
will occur again in the 2nd half of 2023.
Watch August - November!

Beware of any donations set up. Major “charities” and NGOs will steal the majority of what is given for themselves. Research thoroughly.
Sad something like that even needs said, but here we are.

As the Turks control the Bosphorus straight they'll probably get all the help they need. in fact, access to the straight might just go to the highest bidder.
We are all about to get that little bit poorer..again.
“My Administration has been working closely with our NATO Ally Turkiye, and I authorized an immediate U.S. response. At my direction, senior American officials reached out immediately to their Turkish counterparts to coordinate any and all needed assistance,” Biden said in a statement. “Our teams are deploying quickly to begin to support Turkish search and rescue efforts and address the needs of those injured and displaced by the earthquake.U.S.-supported humanitarian partners are also responding to the destruction in Syria.”
