Should the Global War on Terror be considered World War III?

Joseph V. Micallef wrote in an article back in January 2017 that he considers the Global War on Terror to be World War III because he points out that the US has fought al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other Islamic extremist groups across different regions of the world, including the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. He sums up his rationale for this assessment as follows:

The struggle with jihadism is in fact a world war; one with multiple front lines scattered across the world's major cities. That conclusion is inescapable. It is not the Third World War, because it has little in common with the first two, and while conventional military forces will play a role, this conflict will involve national police forces to an unprecedented extent. It is therefore possible to say that this is the first "World War" fought by asymmetric forces simultaneously across the globe that involves both civil and military forces.

Some Americans might feel inclined to apply the World War III label to the Global War on Terror because they know that Osama bin Laden's vow to take the Muslim world back to the time of the Islamic caliphate reminds them of Hitler's pledge to take Germany back to the time of the Teutonic Knights, and the United States and Russia fought against Islamic extremism after 9/11 and campaigns of terrorism by Chechen separatists, similar to the US joining forces with the USSR to fight Nazi Germany.

No what should be construed as WW3 is what the whole 'Terror' construct role that has been played onto to the public over and over again. It's a played card.

No.

Most of the groups mentioned are blowback.

Arm a group, have them fight as your poxy, and then abandon them. That is a recipe for the extremists in those groups to rise up and haunt you.

WWIII has been raging for years. It's a non-traditional, asymetric battle that the vast majority of the world does not recognize as war, but war it is!

THIS pretty much

The cold war pretty much transitioned into WWIII 20+ years ago and while its been mostly economic and political in nature boiling over for the past 6 years, Ukraine essentially signaled the beginnings of a hot kinetic war, and is a forceful part of the previous economical and political war if achieved, (it wont)

Taiwan would signal the beginning of an all out hot kinetic World War 3, that is the one the major allied powers are waiting for, not Ukraine... unless Putin Ok's North Korean or Iranian Troops in the Ukraine fight due to the facts its already lost ?

Then that of course could definitely then involve a full scale NATO attack on Russia for doing so, which could give China reasons to go for Taiwan then using its Naval forces while sending large numbers of its ground forces/troops to fight on the western front with Russia

Its very doubtful they'd make the journey in one piece tbh, even if they sent 2 million troops they'd be lucky if even 500k made the journey to the European front, would be the convoy of death x1000

maybe we should revist all the global wars and restart the numbering back to an agreed point

and then maybe have a party when we get to ww10,

The War on Terrorism is the fourth phase of the reactionary conspiracy’s plan to establish a new Empire, the 4th Reich, in the Americas, as I’m explaining here. The III World War will be one of the main components of the fifth and last phase.

there was only one country other than the collation side that was a recognized government, no matter what side you take on their involvement.

sounds like it should be the 10th crusade given the religious weight Blair & Bush put on the fight...
