Chinese officials have ended the primary search at the crash site, after recovering 49,000 pieces of debris. All 132 people have been identified through DNA matching with family members.

BEIJING -- Chinese officials said Thursday that the search for wreckage in last week's crash of a China Eastern Boeing 737-800 is basically done and that more than 49,000 pieces of debris had been found.

Flight MU5735 plunged from 29,000 feet (8,800 meters) into a mountainside in southern China's Guangxi region, killing all 132 people on board. The impact created a 20-meter- (65-foot-) deep crater, set off a fire in the surrounding forest and smashed the plane into small parts scattered over a wide area, some of them buried underground.

Zhu Tao, the director of aviation safety for the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said at a news conference in the nearby city of Wuzhou that important parts including the horizontal stabilizer, engine and remains of the right wing tip had been recovered after nearly 10 days of searching, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.

Wuzhou is located on the tropic of Cancer with the Xijiang River running through the center of the city.
Crash site must have been north of the city along the flight path between the two airports.
Shouldn't be that much great circle correction at those latitudes. Now WU5720 flight path traveled Nairobi to the Arctic circle back in 2019. Descending at 113 MPH after a decompression event makes sense, if the pilots were busy with oxygen masks and critical damage assessment they might not have time to use the radio. No idea what happened at 8000 feet when they pulled out of the dive perhaps overspeed.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH2664, a 737-800, flying Kuala Lumpur to Tawau on Sunday reportedly experienced a sudden rapid descent from 30,000 feet. The crew was able to recover, but the aircraft entered a second descent before they were able to recover, and return to Kuala Lumpur. The aircraft was in a descent for approximately 10 minutes, with passengers reporting that it was unstable during that time.

Sources close to the NTSB are saying that the black boxes are showing that flight control inputs caused the dive into the ground.

So someone on board dove it into the ground intentionally.

I know zilch about flying outside of flying a helicopter in a game called "Mercenaries". But i have read that a nose dive into the ground isn't particularly easy. Is this the case?

It is, and it isn't. If it's a two pilot plane, and the other pilot is fighting you, then it can get difficult. EgyptAir 990 was both pilots fighting, one to dive one not to dive, and the aircraft pulled up multiple times before breaking up prior to impact from stress on the airframe. In this case, something similar happened, and the aircraft pulled up once before finally diving into the ground. That would appear to show that the pilots were fighting with the controls. If there's only one pilot in the cockpit, such as one pilot being locked out, then it's pretty easy, and you just push the control column forward and aim at the ground.
