The ugliness the trucker convoy has exposed is surprising, I'd guess, to even some jaded already from two years of despotic overreach. At least I feel this way.

The HONKENING, the feeding homeless and clearing snow, the bouncy castles and hot tubs shined a bright spotlight onto the blighted "might-makes-right" posse.

That’s essentially correct but it’s open to interpretation.

For example, freedom of speech and lawful assembly is still protected.

So what were the trucker protests?

I think a lot of this was all about the financial powers that they get related to FINTRAC reporting and personal financial disclosure.

They are already saying some of the financial components of the Act will remain permanent.

It was a whipped vote. All party members were told to vote on party lines or they would be ejected from the party. This is not democracy, this is extortion and coercion. All of the liberals and ndp need to be rounded up, charged with treason, tried in a real court and when found guilty, executed, because this is high treason and high crimes.

It's going to get real bumpy up here in CANADA now. I think we need some help from republicans and patriots in the US, please!

Cheers - Dave

Get ready Canada now under these powers the dictator Trudeau can force people and children to get the dangerous jabs and not opposition will be allowed, he can even create detentions camps for the insurgency, all under his new powers.

Very sad indeed, at least we got a supreme court that would stop the overreach of power of our citing president, but does Canada have anything to help the people?

How about if he decides stay in power indefinitely.

Does These powers have an expiration day?

It’s supposedly enacted with limitations depending on the type of emergency.

Here is the Act

laws-lois.justice.gc.ca...

And here is an article that explains it use presently.

globalnews.ca...

Maybe some other Canadian is more familiar with the Acts contents and the procedure to use them.

I’m still reading up on it and am in no way an expert. Yet.

The US has about 124 firearms per 100 people.
Canada has about 34 per 100 people.

en.wikipedia.org...

That's the ones they know about. Over the years, I've been amazed how many people have oldies, inherited or simply can't be bothered doing paperwork/jumping through hoops. Most farmers have them and I don't think there's rules for theirs. Some fishermen too.

I submit Michigan to be the DMZ and we can start trading people who wish to relocate. (Not the UP though!)

I watched the vote.........fools every single one of them who voted yes, the NDP especially, next election they will find out.

But Trudeau has overplayed his hand....I am just going to leave this here.

When you cut peoples money off, and they have nothing left to lose, you create the above scenario even more so.
Nobody wants violence, but some might not feel like waiting until the next election to resolve these issues, this Liberal government is creating a lot of very angry Canadians. They are very polite until you really make them angry, then it's like a switch goes off, and they can become like a really angry Canada goose that has been wounded and grounded.

Not one Western leader has condemned any of this

Let that sink in

No one wants to get cancelled...permanently.

And that's exactly why we got into this pickle in the first place!

Just like how temporary the mandates, passports had being staying for two weeks to flatten the curve? none of the Canadian Liberals had a issue of BLM looting in US.

Thank You! What you describe is how I thought I heard it was "supposed" to work and it sounds like Trudeau and cronies are bending the meaning, use of and, abusing the act.

So fits the definition of Tyranny to a tee.

How do the people force an election in the parliamentary system Canada has?

AND WHEREAS the Governor in Council, in taking such special temporary measures, would be subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Canadian Bill of Rights and must have regard to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, particularly with respect to those fundamental rights that are not to be limited or abridged even in a national emergency;

Thanks, soo lets see if Castrudeau manage to make it permanently or how much damage he will do to Canada during that time, 30 days is a long time to push vax, create camps, prosecute the oppositions, make the troublemakers disappear and pass sweeping powers to oppress the population if the parliament is all in it.

I think Canada is the next face of the big global experiment.

Yeah it’s been a real eye opener. Never thought my country would turn into this.

Gotta wonder how many more bank accounts they can go around seizing now. They threatened more were coming once they’ve sifted through all the video evidence. More arrests too. Even if you’d left peacefully once warnings came out. Not much of a “warning” if it really means you’re still #ed.

I’m not clear on if 30;days included this first 7 days. Still yeah, a long time to execute more powers. More accounts will be seized for sure.

Time for a bank run.
I'll be popping into my nearest branch tomorrow to pull out no less than 1/4 of what I've got in there.

It sure happened quickly didn’t it?

I lurked here since almost the beginning of ATS and didn’t join up until a couple of years ago.

My name Northofstuff seemed to fit then.

If I joined today I’d call myself Inthemiddleofstuff!

Crazy days, hang in there Violet.

That "ugliness" will be used against anyone who does not do what the government tells them to do. Those who are cheering on the government today, can easily be a target of government punishment tomorrow.
