The wife has been reading/listening to stuff about this case all morning while giving me the highlights.
I agree, something is really off about the whole situation.

Well, he has only been missing for a few days so far.

So the parents told the police they have not seen him since Tuesday and that was a total surprised to the police who thought he was at home the whole time, so lots of coverup going on in all this.

So now they think he might have gone into a nature preserve in Florida and is hiding out.

A massive, multi-agency search is underway Saturday in a “vast” Florida wildlife reserve for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of missing Long Island native Gabby Petito, authorities said.

Authorities with scent-tracking dogs are scouring the T. Mabry Carlton Reserve , a lush 24,565-acre wildlife habitat in Sarasota County for Laundrie, 23, considered by police a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance.

“The North Port Police Department, FBI, and agency partners are currently conducting a search (of the reserve)” North Port Police tweeted at 10:36 a.m. “His family says they believe he entered the area earlier this week. More details when available.”

North Port Police spokesman Josh Taylor said authorities are using articles of clothing taken from Laundrie’s home during a police search Friday night to help the dogs track him

Unless he is a fan of Naked and Afraid its gonna be rough hiding out in there.

And the parents should have been locked up for Aiding and Abetting, or minimally Obstruction, right on the spot!!

They knew he was gone since Tuesday and said nothing to authorities, despite their duty to do so. They only filed the "missing person" report the moment the authorities came into their home and demanded to see Laundrie! Or should I say, "Dirty Laundry"?

This dude is probably swinging from a Cypress tree by now! They'll never find out what happened if that's the case.

It's interesting to me how certain cases get all the media attention

Isn't it though? I mean plenty if people go missing every day. How did this one get chosen and happen to be this crazy of a story?

Out of the hundreds that go missing, seems the attention always goes to the young blondes, doesn't it?

My bet is she drove the van to Florida and they're hiding out.

ETA: I followed her vlog for a little bit when they were first heading out, maybe about a year ago? So I don't really understand why she and or he said in the police bodycam video that she was trying to get one going? She was vlogging even before they took off.

Can't find the vlogs on YouTube now. And it's not the one that's there now. It was under a different name I don't remember.

I guarantee she killed herself after waking up everyday with 5 likes and 3 shares on her vlog she wanted to get big. That plus other mental illness happens everyday the bf not wanting to be found next to dead body knowing he would be defending himself behind bars with half a mill for bail he can't afford. At least the way he going about it now he can defend himself on his couch. Him saying where she is won't stop parents grief. They will be grieving the rest of there life's. He not putting the pain on the parents. Gabby is by killing herself and putting the bf in this situation. I honestly think he did nothing wrong and I would do the same thing. After all those police reports he would be defending himself from behind bars if he called police and said she jumped. All day they would think he pushed her. What would u do? Defend yourself in jail or let it play out as best u can doing what you gotta do to stay out of jail. Nothing gonna bring her back to life. Family gonna grieve just as hard after they find the body then they are now waiting to find it just in a slightly different way. If it was gaddys choice to jump then it was her that's hurting them not the bf. He is just the whipping boy for the sins she committed. Yeah he could say where she is then everyone gonna say he pushed her then he gonna have to defend that. Better to stay quiet. Unless he just goes to kill himself. His love just killed herself so he gonna spend the rest of his life with that guilt and the cloud of suspicion over him forever. Sitting in jail for years trying to defend that u didn't push her hoping a jury believes u over the sweet innocent do no wrong free spirit girl. Especially when everyone has already made up there minds. Read the comments. 98% of ppl see him as guilty and nobody even mentions the possibility I just said cause it's easier to blame him.

This is what I've been thinking the whole time.. everyone calling him a coward for getting a lawyer. Anyone with a brain should get a lawyer in any police situation you get involved in

Or stage a disappearance?

Now she has like 550k IG followers and the YT video has been viewed like, what 1.5 million times?

He's silent and hiding because he knows no crime has been committed and going to authorities and giving a false statement would be a crime? But knew their would be other potential consequences which is why he called a lawyer?

Just some thoughts...

Only question is, how is she remaining off the radar for this long? Unless she truly incapacitated or dead, or his parents gave her money to hole up, which is why they are acting the way they are with their son? Who tf knows.

He's swinging from a Cypress tree, and she's getting her "15 minutes"!

No one will ever know.

Yeah, if he went into the reserve intending to "stay", I don't think he expected to come out. But I'm not so sure he actually went in there, or if he did, is still there/intended to stay, or simply wanted to throw everyone off by searching.

Just a little story, several years ago there was a professor at UGA who went into an Athens theater and killed his wife(?) and the guy she was with, with whom she was having an affair (if I recall). Witnesses saw everything. He ended up going out into the woods somewhere, digging a shallow grave, and shooting himself in it.

Wow! There is an awful lot going on in this story, isn't there?!

I have read most of the stories under the "Gabby Petito" tag over at the NY Post and a few other news sites and like many of us on ATS, this just doesn't seem to pass the smell test. Something just isn't right with this story.

So, Brian leaves Gabby in a hotel for a week, to fly back to Florida to empty a storage unit with his dad.
Why?
Cost of roundtrip flight? We'll say $350 (that's probably way cheap)
Cost of hotel room for a week? Fairfield Inn @ $85/night would be, we'll say $500.
So that would equal $850...to empty a storage unit that would cost probably $300 to keep until you got done with your trip and back home.
Why do that? It doesn't make sense to me.

Another puzzling piece, in my opinion, is Brian going "missing". His parents haven't seen him since Tuesday but decide to wait until Friday to report him missing.
Again, why?

They say he left with a backpack and on foot...but then the next day, they say that they went to the park, found his car and drove it back home.
What?! And, once again, why?!?
You believe your son is missing in a Florida swamp, in mid-September so you decide to go retrieve his vehicle, his only means of transportation home? How does that make sense, unless you know he isn't coming back to the car?

How did Brian leave, in said car, with all the protestors outside the house and drive away?? So far, I've not heard one of them sawy they saw him get in the car and drive away. Bonus WTF: not a single one of the protestors followed his vehicle as it drove away??

Brian's sister hasn't talked to him? This raises an eyebrow, doesn't it? At 1:00 she says she hasn't talked to him and wishes she could.

There are a few other oddities I've come across but these should be enough for now.

So, my question (and I assume a few others out there in ATS Land) is, has anyone actually seen Brian in Florida?!? Have the police physically seen him in Florida? Have the neighbors? Has ANYONE seen Brian in the state of Florida since they left on the trip?

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the cops have stated that they saw him and he refused to discuss where Gabby was but I've not seen where they confirm that they have seen him. In fact, another little piece of "evidence" is that the police spokesman said that they thought Brian was in the house the entire time and were surprised that he had gone missing.

So, if Brian never came back to Florida, who drove the van back? Or maybe he did drive it back and he slipped out before the protestors began camping in front of the house, giving him an extra few days on the run before his parents filed a missing person's report?

Just my lil addition to this crazy journey and maybe a little more food for thought. And I could be proven totally wrong with a short confirmation from the police that they physically saw Brian but I've yet to come across that in any of the stories I've read or videos I've watched.

Looks like they had domestic violence issues in the past.
Not a good sign.
Being stuck in such small quarters can make a lot of people angry towards one another.

Now this guy disappears. Walks into a preserve?

Not looking good .

And there is a Mob at his house. Not much they can do.

They would be some crazy setup for more viewers.

But the cops pulling them over for domestic violence . A sign that they were violent with each other is not a good sign.

Say what you will, BUT you cannot argue that the two were separate at the time of that ride. Right?

That alone, is a significant deviation from the reported story!

Maybe he killed her, and then was on the run.

Okay, but how then did he later wind up with the van to drive home to Florida????

Don't you see? Nothing here makes sense?

After they were separated for domestic violence.
I believe they met up after and still traveled together for weeks.

I’d be focusing on his parents. There’s more to the story than they want us to believe.

Walking into the woods/swamp in mosquito infested, Florida and not coming out, yeah right. He’s someplace else.

Laundrie's parents need to be sitting in separate jail cells right now, in between "interviews" with the authorities!

This is the one thing which tells me she very well may be dead. Her personality is such that her ego just couldn't resist touching IG with that many new followers. She'd be attracted to it like a bug to a bug zapper!

She attacks in a furry. You either defend yourself or become seriously injured.

You push her away to protect your own body, she falls and hits her head on a rock/the corner of a table/a tree stump.

Not easy, perhaps not even likely, but not impossible.

You're watching too much television.

Hmmmm...just thinking aloud here...

The hitchhiking thing doesn't make sense. I mean it does and it doesn't. Unless...

He kills her in the GTNP campground and leaves her body in the van. Then takes off hitchhiking hoping to get far away so he can say she left him behind before she was killed. When he realizes his ride is only going to Jackson Hole a short distance away he freaks out and demands to get out. Then he hikes back to the campground, takes the van and starts heading home to mommy and daddy in FL. And, his intentions are to bury her in some desolate location on the way back (of which there are many).

She could be anywhere between Wyoming and Florida.
