This would seem to be a different circle of people than I've experienced. The only reason I've ever known someone to intentionally make their vehicle appear cheaper was to avoid getting it stolen or broken into.

I've never been to someone's house and had them say "Hey, let me show you my new set of Ace Pro sockets I got at Tru-Value for $9.99!" I have, however, had friends that wanted to show me new sets of Snap-On or Metrinch tools they'd spent hundreds of dollars on and were proud to show off.

Hell, the very throw-away consumerist nature of this country speaks volumes towards an absence of humility that is deeply ingrained in the average American.

Yes and no. It was different not so long ago. People liked the hero's journey.

They still do! In my industry it's still the hero's journey in 3 acts.

Business is booming! People still want to live vicariously thru what's on the 50in screen. I'm in the studio now making it happen. I'm not humble, I'm proud of what I do.

My old grandpappy gave me a trigger warning once, may he rest in peace!

"Don't put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot something"

Wisest trigger warning ever given.
