Does any person still doubt we are in need of a divorce? Barring some sort of total intelligent takeover of all positions, it is the only way forward.

I remember reading a story similar to this not long after common core was passed. It called for "exemplar" texts to be used, and part of that was books by diverse authors. A text that got recommended was full of fairly graphic sex and language *but* its author was diverse.

I wonder if that is at play here.

There are two books that I found with this name. The summaries of both didn't seem so bad.

Try to remember nearly everything done at a public school is done at the county level. The states main role is supervision ovet ensuring equality acts and bare minimum academic standards are met. Curriculum and policies are typically done at the county school board level. More frequently, childless witches are setting extreme policies, and their withcraft could see a return to 1600's style cleansings by angry villagers.

You hit the nail right on the head and you don't realize it. YT, FB, Twitter, Game review site, Film review sites practically all TV channels, Hollywood as a whole, all censor and deny right leaning views. To put it mildly. Yes we should be celebrating different voices and opinions but that is not being practiced here. All we see is right leaning people being censored everywhere and with a overwhelming over representation of far left LGBTQ-woke ideology ,people and content everywhere.

If that was not the case this hardcore porn content that the op exposed would not be found in kindergartens and grade schools donning themselves in Pride flags and such everywhere.

Fyi , there are two books called lawn boy. Some people are saying it's possible they just bought the wrong book that ended up being pedo stuff.

You know, I could possibly buy that excuse, were it not for an experience I had when my kids were in early school (think 1st through 3rd grade):

The school had this reading program where kids would read books, then answer a series of questions about the books on the computer and get "points." The points were based on both the grade level of the book and the grade level of the student. Every Awards Day the kid in first place got recognition, and there was even this little racetrack on the hall wall with race cars bearing the students' names and showing their position in the reading. It worked wonderfully! It encouraged kids to read and made it fun for them.

Well, one day my son came home kinda long-faced. I asked him what was wrong and he told me not to expect him to get the reading award this next time. I asked why and he said he was running out of books to read! The boy had plowed through almost the entire school library!

Well, admittedly, it's a small school with limited funds, and that doesn't mean there's a lot of money for books. However, it was a popular program and I remembered that I personally owned probably 100 books from my youth that would be appropriate. Maybe I could donate those? And then I thought, I'll bet I'm not the only one with old books that they could have! Maybe I could start a drive? And then someone suggested letting people donate a few bucks instead of books and use that to buy appropriate books from yard sales... I mean, it's nothing to see 20 or so youth books going for 25 cents each at a yard sale! Hell, a little work and I could help get that library so many books they would have to build new shelves!

So I got together a little group of people who wanted to help and I approached the principal. I told her all we needed from her was an OK that she would accept the books, subject to appropriateness of course. Anything she felt was inappropriate, well, we'd just scrap that one. We needed nothing from the school whatsoever... we were going to make the donations, buy any books that needed buying, handle all the logistics... just accept the delivery.

She refused.

She explained to me that she could not accept any books that were not on the state-approved list. The students would simply have to make do, because the state was dictating what could be read.

So, if the schools are not going to accept books from parents and donators because they might be inappropriate, then when the school puts actually inappropriate books out there themselves, they need to be held fully accountable for it. Whoever acquired these books, be it the state board, the principal, the librarian, whoever, should be fired on the spot and never allowed to work at a school again.

When you have two lawn boy books and not knowing the full details, i think most people are jumping to conclusions.

Parents having to order books themselves? I highly doubt that. A parent can order any book they like for their kid, obviously, but these were on the school's reading list. From the OP:

There again, that indicates to me that these books are part of an in-school library.

Even if the parents bought the books, the purchase was based on a school-published reading list, which means the school actually recommended the book. Books are specified by not just the title, but also by the author... meaning there is only one book specified. Usually the ISBN number is also given, which is unique to each book... this is necessary because if someone has a different book from the rest of the class, it results in chaos. In addition, if these books are ordered by the parents from a list supplied by the school, it follows that the school is selling these books to the parents. Even in college, specified books are available from the school bookstore.

My problem is that an actual attempt to assist the schools with a difficulty in maintaining a library sufficient to promote reading was met with refusal, even though no action was requested of the school other than to put the books on their shelves. The excuse was that the books might have been inappropriate. Now we have a report of a school actually putting inappropriate books into the hands of children, be it through physically having the books available or by official recommendation. That's pure hypocrisy and it is coming at the expense of the very children the school is supposed to teach and protect.

We have already lost one full generation; most people my kids' age have a hard time reading a newspaper, cannot spell, and forget them doing any math besides adding two 2-digit numbers together. Yes, it is literally that bad. The schools have let us all down and now they are literally harming children. At what point do we say "ENOUGH!" and start insisting that children be taught instead of indoctrinated and protected instead of exploited?

Must we lose another generation? Can we lose another generation?

The one she was supposed to order was this one: Lawn Boy: Gary Paulsen.

It appears to be an honest mistake.
