If an E.T. Craft crashes on United States soil, who does it belong to?

Does it belong to the E.T.'s? The Civilian community? The Scientific Community? Or the Military Complex?

Perhaps this is the key to disclosure? Changing the legislation? We have an effective National Security apparatus in place to make sure these materials never fall into enemy hands or see the light of day in the Public Science realm. But at what cost?

I operate this thread under the hypothesis that a craft has crashed on public land and there are either no occupants or survivors. What do you do now?

Exactly! But who 'technically' and legally owns it? There has to be an executive order somewhere dictating this.

China would own it. They own everything here even the president.

Well, if I crash my car onto someone's property, or government property, it's still mine but I'm liable for damages or injuries to others. I'd say it still belongs to the Aliens but they had better be insured.

I'm sure there's some government order under "emergency powers" that gives Uncle Sam the right to take your stuff, all the alien stuff, and kick your dog as well.

Just treat them like you would any other person.
Be helpful at first and have them pay for their stupidity later. If the alien dies the ship goes for sale to pay for any damages.
Wouldn't it be nice to see your new secondhand spaceship coming home from a full restoration?
