The phrase "the map is not the territory" springs to mind.

I've never heard that phrase before, but it's brilliant! And this as well:

Fear of failure is worse than actual failure and fear doesn't teach many lessons.

There is this idea that "failure" is final, rather than just the beginning -- or an intrinsic part -- of growing and learning and expanding.

Who was it that said failure is just a lesson in what will not work? Einstein? Mark Twain? I don't remember now...

Everything is (or can be) a lesson and another step in realizing success. But only if we can see it and put it to good use.

Please don't offend my triggers. Im too sensitive. I identify as a stereotype.

Which one so I can mock it?

Im not sure which ones. Because im stressed out at the moment.
I need a safe space to figure them out.

What ever happened to, “I disagree with what you said but will defend to the death your right to say it “?

That's one of biggest fake pc orgasms ever and only show fear and weakness.

Yes, you said something vaguely similar on this thread.

Given that you are interested in sincere discussion then what do you think of political correctness?

Political correctness is for crybabies without any backbone! Pull your bootstraps up
and deal with any problem you have like an adult.

Not sorry...

Agreed... Colleges were shut down for a week or two in 2016 because a candidate they didn't like won the election. I was in the second grade when we watched the Space Shuttle Challenger blow up and we didn't even get to go home early.

I'm probably one of the least politically correct people you'll meet.

You're getting a greatly toned down version of my real self.

I believe you that we're getting the toned down version of you, those pesky T&C's
spoils a lot of potential fun times.

Nailed it...

When I was in school, if you told on someone because your feelings were hurt or someone made you cry, you better be prepared because you'd be getting your arse beat up soon when no teachers were looking.

Me too, some of the things I can't tell you are so funny because they are so inappropriate.

You seem to have a warped sense of humor that could have an affect on
other members.Again, those pesky T&C's claim another victory over any
inappropriate postings.

Would be interested in any opinions out there (offended or otherwise).

I liked the Penn Jillette section of the compilation from 3:33 - 4:20 the most.
Just because you can say something doesn't mean you have to say it, and just because you feel offended by something doesn't mean that you must announce that you are offended.

Long, long ago, in a protected garden, I never heard the phrase "political correctness", No one said it. The pejorative term had not been coined yet.

Years and decades rolled by, the walls crumbled, the garden wilted into just another place among all the other places within places. It was The Fall of Man, so to speak.

And so - here we are. Spring seems unlikely, though possible.

Since this is the "being offended" thread. Perhaps we should start a "being offensive" thread.

Maybe not, though. It probably wouldn't last long.
I'm not good at predicting winners but I'd have a guess at who the top ten would be.

Any really good play thread would be either closed for staff
review,or trash canned.

That is one of the reasons I check my PM's everyday,to see if
a post has been removed.

if you want to see someone get offended, all you have to do is call out bad behavior or bad legislation of a politician in the political party they support.

I love to offend people.
I especially love to offend people that are easily offended, in fact, I go out of my way to offend those people.
Being offended by everything is a mental weakness and there is no hope of coming back from it.
