So true. I keep telling my son that the only way to really fail is to never try. Everything teaches us something unless we never go there to begin with.

I was a teacher during 9/11 and it was business as usual.

Faux outrage and being offended is rife these days. Folk need to harden up and stop being so weak.

Probably just as well that Bernard Manning is no longer with us.

Snowflakes would be frothing at the mouth and biting the carpet.

Best I don't post any links! Don't want anyone to be offended....

What ever happened to, “I disagree with what you said but will defend to the death your right to say it “?

Being offended these days is blood sport and a way to show off how "good" you are morally.

Perhaps we ought to go back to the old dueling codes. Let people demand satisfaction again. If something upsets you that much, put your honor, possibly your life, on the line.

Double effect: Do you need to say/do it enough to get called out? Are you offended enough to die to prove your point?

Ashli Babbitt was.

And what's so wrong about being "inappropriate"?

Harrumph.

Perhaps we need a "Grumpy Old Men" board?

Sorry! "Grumpy Old Person" board.

Hang on, can't use that word "Old". Not inclusive or whatever.

Sorry for any offence.

If you think Ashli Babbitt was in any kind of duel of honor, you have some researching to do.

No, you say, "Sorry if any of you were offended." It says you aren't sorry at all.

She was offended enough to die to prove her point, is what I was saying. Still not sure what point she proved, but it was worth giving her life apparently.

If that's the case, then LEOs should have been free to shoot the activists storming various federal buildings all summer. They're like Ashli, right? Willing to die?

I try not to use language that I know offends people. I don't intentionally offend people other than my friends, because my friends are a bunch of dicks.

I started to respond with "Good job, Mom! Your son is one of the lucky ones."

Then I realized that actually your son is one of the luckiest ones of all. You've given him a gift that will serve him well his entire life.

The "good job, Mom" still stands!

Don't know whether all this is an insidious plot to oppress intellectual discourse but there does seem to be an awful lot of hysterical censorship going on.

I don't think many have noticed yet but "Intellectual discourse".
Seems to be in a powerless death spiral as it's main directive is to
make sense of the current events of our world.

So I began to wonder.

If intellectual discourse fails to see it's objective has recently be-
come absolutely futile. And continues on aimlessly in ignorance.
Seeking to make sense of a world that has ceased to make any
sense what so ever.

How can it then continue to be considered "Intellectual discourse"?
What's so intelligent about pretending our world hasn't become
senseless? Is there not a point when intelligent discourse no longer
resembles anything intelligent at all?

I say there is and we are far removed from that pinnacle. So why
are we still trying to make sense out of non sense when it doesn't
make any sense?

Does that make sense?

I'm pretty sure what generation you are from drives how offended you might get in any situation.
