Memphis Meats has changed its name to Upside Foods and the cultured meat company plans to bring chicken — its first consumer product — to the market this year.

Upside is a San Francisco Bay company founded in 2015. It’s local tie is Will Clem, owner of Baby Jack’s BBQ in Bartlett. He also cofounded Memphis Meats and was one of the company’s tissue engineers. The company chose the original “Memphis Meats” name “as a way to pay homage to Memphis’ barbecue culture,” according to a 2016 Memphis Flyer story by Bianca Phillips.

“We wanted to bring the strength of innovation from Silicon Valley and the meat-loving culture of Memphis together,” company cofounder and former cardiologist Uma Valeti said at the time.

So they grow cells into edible meat. I’m on the fence. I know how our chicken industry works and yeah it’s gross. I also LOVE chicken. I’m just wondering what is the nutritional value? Is it better?

From another article I read about lab grown meat, they are able to put certain nutrients in. Interesting. All of it is.

What do you think? Would you eat it?

In that article it also states that only one country allows the sale of lab grown meat. Singapore.

Sorry mods if I put this in wrong forum! Help if I did please
!

If this all goes super mainstream I will be starting a farm with my own food and will start hunting more regularly.

Can you prove that the facken in the machine has no feels? Hit it with a hammer, does it not kind of bounce? Hook it to a battery, does it not wiggle when the power is turned on and off?

Aha!!! I can’t prove that at all ..

Wouldn’t you FEEL better though if the chicken wasn’t harmed in the process?

i was raised on a chicken farm until i was 17. then came back when i was 23 for 5 more years.
we rasied them for eggs and when their laying slowed we'd sell them for meat. also sold chicken sh@@ for fertilizer, spring time people would line up for that sh@@.

i would imagine i've seen every way a chicken could die or be killed and smelled it it to.

Well that’s neat!!
And fair enough. Only chicken I’ve ever been around were my aunts, who just had a few for eggs. And the silky chicken I worked with on magic tricks.

I will never eat lab grown meat, I believe that mixed with covid vaccine is how the zombie apocalypse will start
Wouldn’t that be the icing on the cake!? Zombies!!? I do love a good zombie flick but would HATE to have to experience that in real life.

Nice! I’ll grow the veggies while your people hunt. We shall trade!

( we have a few veggies growing this year because we are new to gardening, don’t have a lot of land and I didn’t want to get overwhelmed)

Gotta be honest ... facken sounds like something you'd see in porn.

we had nearly half a million chickens in 9 big ass houses.
we also raised cattle and pigs.

one of the funniest things we use to get a kick out of was we'd spread the fertilizer in the pastures , and the cattle would run behind us eating that sh@@ up.

chicken sh@@ is the best fertilizer in the world. makes every thing grow and fast. but you can't put to much out it will burn stuff up just like to much nitrogen.

Count me out of the lab grown meats fad. I like chickens that run around and eat bugs and all sorts of things out in the yard. This is just as bad as the Chinese having to worry about getting man made eggs when they go out shopping. Seems to me it would be easier to just get some chickens and feed them and take their eggs than making the yolk and egg white then making a shell for it by hand. I bet it takes ten times as long to make a hundred eggs overall as it does to get a hundred eggs from the chickens, and I bet the ingredients in them cost just as much as feeding the chickens...plus, you can eat the chickens when they can't give any more eggs.

The people who want all this technology and fake everything cannot see it is more work and expense to not do it naturally. Plus, the mineral and chemical contents of different parts of the animal are important, two different muscles on a cow usually have different organic chemistry to them. A chuck roast is way different chemistry from a round roast. A breast and dark meat have lots of difference in their composition too.

I wouldn’t feed that sh1t to my dog, I don’t trust corporate anything to truly want to help or do something positive without profit motivation, we have been burned as a society way to many times.

I am not interested in corporate grown, simulated foods.

Nature is the best provide of nutrition.

I rather eat less, or pay more for regular meat, instead of eating that lab-goo. Having said that, it is not unthinkable that the current generation, and certainly the next, will have an entirely different attitude towards lab grown meat. Our leaders, the food industry and the education system will make sure the “benefits“ are shoved down their throats like McDonalds’s fried pink chicken-squirt nuggets.

Besides, if we’re to believe BeefBall Claus Schwalb, it is only a matter of time until we’re faced with the next pandemic, namely a “food pandemic “. If the latest prediction by the distinguished representatives of the world economic forum, the same dirtbags that “predicted” our current pandemic, comes to fruition, they’ll probably line up for that fake steak.
