Maybe I reacted a little too harshly, I've just grown very weary of all the racist labels being placed on things. I think these types of things actually amplify the racial divide rather than narrowing it.

I'm sorry for offending. No harm intended.

No offense taken Mr. Disk, There was no harm inflicted as I understood there was no harm intended.

The racial issue is a tough one. It has been insinuated numerous times in this thread that I am racist for even recognizing a term that has historically been a common term used by racists.

I am of a mind that that calling another racist serves no purpose other than to elevate ones own opinion of oneself above this racial fray. I'ts never going to change the mind of one who is racist. NEVER, and hence a totally useless pejorative.
For instance, in all of my dislike for Trump, I still cringe at anyone who calls him racist. It's a stupid thing to do and only further excoriates the problem.

Please explain your theory in more detail. Give a couple examples.

Okay.

I work in electronics (aviation to be exact), and we often have printed circuit boards which are grouped together, several of which report to a single controller board. Historically, these boards were called "Master" and "Slave" boards. Oh boy, can't use that phrase anymore!! Gawd forbid!

Searching for an alternative to the above, we tried to use "Mother" and "Daughter" boards, but that wasn't allowed either because it was discriminatory against male same sex couples with an adopted daughter. Unbelievable!

Comments from the "Peanut Gallery" - This phrase stems from theaters where people sitting in the cheap seats ate peanuts and threw the shells on the floor. Now the woke community has equated the cheap seats with black people and therefore the term 'peanut gallery' is considered racist. Ridiculous!

I'd like some "Jimmies" on my ice cream cone - I grew up with jimmies on my ice cream cones, and I loved them. It was the highlight of going to the ice cream shop with my Dad as a kid. Always looked on in awe to see how they dipped the cone without losing the ice cream. Nope, can't use that one anymore either because apparently some guy named Jimmy was black, and now it's racist.

I'd like a house with a "Master" bedroom and two guest rooms - Nope, politically incorrect. Racist. Unbelievable!

No problem, "piece of cake" - Use the phrase all the time, never even remotely dreamed it could be racist. Nope, can't use that one either. Why? Because some knucklehead determined that the term "cake" originates from another term for easy called "cake walk", which apparently some plantation owner did for a dance step.

Call a "spade a spade" - Now I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure the playing card suit of spades was around a hell of lot longer than slaves were, but don't you dare use it in public! Absurd! The 'spade' was an important trump card (gasp...he said "trump"!!) in many card games of old. Calling a spade a spade just meant telling the truth, but NOPE. Again, ridiculous!

"Black sheep" - A genetic mutation in sheep which makes their wool an undesirable dark color which taints the color of lighter colored wools. Additionally, a black sheep was an easier target for predators and in some cases even attracted them to a flock of sheep, hence the term. No racial connotation, but some black person had an issue with the word "black" and took it personal and now it's racist. Sorry, Charlie. Same thing for the words "Blacklist" and/or "Blackball".

Do I need to go on? And these are just some easy ones anyone can find on the interwebz. The first one is particularly irksome to me because there's really no other good way to describe this relationship electronically. There are hundreds of other examples.

This does not surprise me, just today at my local pharmacy, I had a black woman yell at me that i cutting her line, she wasn't even in line, and I thought she was dropping off a prescritpion. She started yelling and swearing at the pharmacist that was going to help me. The main pharmacists came over asked her to calm down and they would assist her. She did, for a brief moment, then started going off on the lady again. Her own husband was telling her to calm down, as he clearly looked embarrassed. It was a spectal but doesn't surprise me at all. I fear this anger is just going to get worse, as CNN and all of the social media make it worse!

We had this sweet, it was a round waffle, a vanilla egg-white-foam topping and then different kinds of chocolate coatings: dark, brown and vanilla. It was cylindric and camfered / rounded at the top.

And they were called Mohrenkopf and Mohrenkuss. A Mohr is how Europeans called dark skinned folks. It wasn't degratoritive until the PCP (political correctness police) had them be renamed. Travel wasn't like today and it was just a term to describe these exotic people.

Mohrenkopfmeans "head of a Mohr", Mohrenkuss means "kiss from a Mohr (dark skinned person)" and I guess it plays on the toppings color and soft bite. Long story short, they had it renamed. Another pharmacy store, with hundreds of years of tradition in producing medicine and using herbs and it was called "Mohrenapotheke". Apotheke means drug store, I am not sure if it's a brand name too. (Add: The usage of the word Mohr was to honor and point out the speciality and focus of their business model)

And the PCP demanded it to be renamed and now I think they are called different.

If have more examples, too..

Gypsy-sauce.... is now called hungarian sauce...

Simple solution for this. Make any kind of brawl at an airport a felony punishable by a minimum 10 year prison sentance with no parole. Maybe that would calm the emotions down a bit.

Sorry to hear that happened to you.

I will share one helpful observation. We have discovered that if we do our shopping, pharmacy and grocery store, in the wee hours of the morning, there are fewer of the trouble makers out and aboout. Its much more "comfortable". We have also found that eating out, even at upscale restaurants, should be avoided at all costs after 7:00 pm. When we seek to eat out, we do so at lunch time.

LOL! The OP talks about rowdy Americans at airports, yet in the UK soccer hooligans run amok by the thousands at half the games. When was the last time this happened in America during a football game? So I guess I should fear for my life in the UK because of the riots at soccer games, those violent Brits, right?

And then there's the drunken flight incidents where some passenger gets hammered out of their mind and runs amok onboard an aircraft. Nine times out of ten recently this has been someone from Europe, not the US, so I guess we should conclude from this that every European starts marinating themselves in alcohol upon waking every day, right?

LOL! (really...LOL!) OP, your view of the world is a classic example of being influenced by a biased media!

I'm in an American airport five out of every seven days, every week, year round. I never worry about violence at US airports, it's a non-issue. You trying to make it one is pretty laughable!!

Well said. This just drama, people acting a fool.

That might work although I suspect this type behavior is a product of a thug culture for which threat of imprisonment holds no real interest.
