Welp, it finally happened. I had a feeling it would, and last night it actually happened.

I woke up and found myself looking directly at my knees! How can such a thing happen, you ask? Well, lemme' tell ya...

You see, a while back we bought this really exotic bed. I figured if we were going to get something really high-end why not go all-in, right? So we got one of the beds where both the head and the foot of the bed incline, so you can elevate your feet, or your head, or both.

So last night it happened; I fell asleep on the remote control for the bed. At some point I felt like I wanted to turn on my side, but in my half asleep state I was finding this maneuver exceedingly difficult. Waking up slightly more I noticed two knobby knees staring me in the face. I'd been folded in half! Just add some cheese, lettuce and taco sauce and you'd have the world's largest taco!

No wonder I couldn't roll over! LOL!

Moral - Put the remote somewhere where you can't fall asleep on top of it!

Go ahead, it's okay; you can laugh at me.

DOH!

I did that with an air mattress once. Woke up the same way you described, but with my ass right on the floor. I was hurting the whole rest of the day. Not a pleasant way to wake up.

Woke up in my semi-sleep state, and I'm like, 'what the....? Why can't I roll over???'

Imagine rolling a 270 lb. taco over from end to end.

Then, after seeing my knees, there was the
"AHA!" moment!

LOL!

A couple of years ago, we spent an obscene amount of money on a bed. Neither my Bride nor me have ever bought a brand new car in our lives, however this bed was more than we've ever spent on a car. It is wonderful, even better than the former Tempur-pedic, and like yours, it articulates and vibrates and my favorite sleep position is "Zero G", which elevates behind the knees and your head and lumbar.

Here's what I have discovered: ALWAYS have spare batteries nearby, because if I went to sleep in prop-up-and-read mode and I run out of juice, well, it's the recliner in the living room for me for the rest of the night.

If anyone is disgusted by this conversation, you are probably one of those which we once were, who could fall asleep on the ground with a rock for a pillow and not even have to carve out a depression for your hip. Your time is coming youngster. Enjoy your youth and plan on later having to spend an obscene amount of money on a bed.

Unless you happen to be Hispanic, is this a case of cultural appropriation?

Trust me, it could have been much worse.

I don't believe so; 'taco' is merely -- in this case -- an apt description of physical form. FCD could have said he had been "Pita'd", except that wouldn't have evoked nearly as apt of a visual image, at least for me.

"Pig-in-a-Blanket?"

They call it "Fetal Position". Babies are flexible so that position is comfortable for them, but we are old farts with bad joints.

I've never imagined I'd be discussing this, however it seems to me that a standard taco exhibits an angle roughly 30-70 degrees, depending upon the desires of the user, whereas a 'pig-in-a-blanket' is an entire 360 degree enclosure. Thus, for me, the two terms would not be interchangeable within context of the OP.

Again, merely my opinion. If a person feels slighted by the term "taco", it is possible they might benefit by examining my signature.

Damn...I just got 'Scienced.' Now I'm going to be obsessing over the geometry of a croissant wrapped around a frank, seeking a flaw in your postulation.

See? That's what I just LOVE about ATS: Neither one of us would have imagined in our wildest dreams we'd be discussing the trionometric/geometric consequences of a taco.
Just hope like hell that The Redneck or JohnnyAnonymous don't wander by here and thrust us into the space-time considerations of a fourth dimensional taco.

It's a strange and wonderful time to be alive.

I've got one of those beds 9 times out of 10 I fall asleep and end horizontally in the crevice like a hot dog with my feet hanging off the bed

I remember seeing characters being folded in half in their beds in cartoons and I have wondered if this ever happens. You have enlightened me.

Man that had to destroy your shoulder, glad that you healed up.

No, the shoulder is not healed up, far from it, which is why I need to sleep on my back about 99.9% of the time. It is also why I like to incline the bed, to attempt to get semi-comfortable (if that's even possible). This event didn't really affect my shoulder at all...because I was lying on my back. My only options are back or left side.

Or, is it that you think the whole story about my shoulder issues were just some fictional story and thought you'd get a little jab in there?
