Living in Chicago, I am not surprised. While everyone jokingly calls Chicago Chiraq due to the persistent gang related gun violence, our latest crime issue is car jackings. Groups of feral teens are running around the city stealing cars. Car jackings are up 135% this year.

This almost feels like a throw back to the early 90s New Jersey where car jacking was elevated to an art form. It got so bad, a classic hood movie was made, New Jersey Drive.

So now that the new past time in Chicago is car jackings, one super sharp liberal city councilman has the perfect fix. Let's ban Grand Theft Auto because that is what is driving the errant teens to copy stealing cars!

All I can say is that this country is done. The sooner and furthest away I can move away from these idiots the happier I will be.

Chicago Proposes Banning GTA

I'll just leave with one of my favorite Outkast tracks.... Benz or Bimmer. A homage to car jacking from the New Jersey Drive movie soundtrack.

Andre 3000: "Moving the steering wheel side to side like a slalom... I don't got a problem.... I am just breaking the steering column"

Have they still not realized what happens when you mess with gamers?

GTAO, a damn near 10 year old game, just had it's best year ever. The cayo perico heist reinvigorated the small base of purists who don't use menus to cheat. It made the game playable again.

The servers are populated again. Now a libtard wants to ban it.

Eff around and find out....

They shouldn't ban it but instead put a warning sticker on it that says something like, 'Rated M for Mature'.

Good grief, I hate sourcing CNN but here it is. Fake news?

Video games unlikely to cause real-world violence, experts say

www.cnn.com...

But experts say there is little evidence to link violent games to real-world violence.

“Games have only become more realistic. The players of games and violent games have only become more diverse. And they’re played all around the world now,” said Andrew Przybylski, an associate professor at the University of Oxford who studies digital media.

Playing video games doesn't lead to violent behaviour, study shows

www.theguardian.com...

Video games do not lead to violence or aggression, according to a reanalysis of data gathered from more than 21,000 young people around the world.

I have a teenage 14 year old that plays some viloent video games (granted he hasn't played GTA yet). But FPS like Bioshock, COD, 3rd persons like Red Dead and all the online shooters like Apex Ledgends, Fortnite, etc. He sprinkles this in with Minecraft and Rocket League.

No issues to report. I guess all kids are different though and need to be monitored.

Hell, I remember playing Doom in the 90's and (I think) I turned out fine. No criminal record.

Now for nostalgia...

Personally, I hope they ban gta altogether. Just so rockstar shelves gta6 and starts working on red dead 3.

But yeah, it’s very naive at best and extremely idiotic at worst to think banning gta would have any impact on crime rates.

Ahem.

“Hello, Rockstar Inc.? Yeah ya got a minute? I hear Chi-town is giving you some problems. May I suggest banning the game from being played in that city if not all Illinois?”

See how quick this gets reversed maybe?

Edit: Cancel Culture might get fun?

I am not for banning violent games. There is no evidence that they are linked to violent acts. Also, they are entertaining, and a way to vent steam and socialize in a healthy manner.

I run a lot of businesses on GTA Online and have made a lot of friends. I've learned about money management and responsibility, just like with any other game I play where I run businesses.

how would they propose to do this?

It never ceases to amaze me that humans will tinker with inputs all day long, but never address their fellow humans. You won't solve crime until you address what drives crime. its not video games, its not movies (although in some age groups they can have more effect), its not music. Its people living miserable lives without any guidance.

But for a politician to address that means addressing their own failures.
