That's kinda what I'm talking about. Why take a chance, even if it's probably miniscule? "Essential activities" need to be more defined...

I am an introvert.

This corona virus... BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!!!

"Home", is 10 acres of pasture... if I need outside interaction, I'll visit our horses.

In all honesty, the corona virus scare... it is our punishment... for voting for Trump. The Democrats are making it as painful as possible... as the media fans the flames...

This is our punishment, for rejecting Hillary. This is our punishment, for rejecting the socialist agenda...

We have our own water. We raise our own food.

We can stay home, for a very long time...

Eating is essential. And I'm officially an old folk so I can use the old folk hours at the supermarket.

Minuscule chances. Yeah. It's a tough one. We take a chance every time we drive a car too. But we're used to that.

Netflix.
I stopped being choosy. Ended up watching some pretty crappy stuff (3022, for example).

When your streaming standards drop and you start watching crap, you're just an ice pick, a bottle of iso alcohol and a few good jabs away from joining the rest of the human race.

Don't do it...resist.

Wife got laid off.

She’s at home with the kids.

I’m working in an “essential business” and frankly I am thankful I get out of the house and get to work. I work from home some too but I prefer being at work.

Beyond that, it means I don’t do much. I get my state sanctioned outdoor exercise time (an hour run/walk/jog) and stop at the store if we need fresh meats or veggies. Kids can still play in the yard, ride their bikes, etc. but staying away from their neighbor friends.

Can’t go to the gym or other sports/social clubs we belong to, or take weekend trips to areas around us, take the kids to see the grandparents , etc. so we’re at home.

At this point, I’m spending spare time in the garage finishing up the 60k service on one car, a full cooling system overhaul on another and I have another project car waiting for my attention - so I can turn wrenches for days. Wife has been homeschooling the kids and organizing the house - throwing stuff away/filling donate bins/ finding stuff to sell online.

Next is some yard work.

Other than being isolating and a little redundant we’re settling in to our new normal. Have plenty of supplies/food/etc. really don’t need to go anywhere as we’re prepared for our current situation.

But, beyond all of that - it feels oppressive. I’m very independent/do it yourself/handle it myself by nature - freedom is kind of an illusion anyway but now it’s entirely removed. That weighs on me more than anything. Feel like a caged animal.

Went to the grocery store tonight just one out of many, bought some steaks for cheap.. Got the cilco bill it was somehow wrong as in 89$, you think I'll write em and ask why? Bought what I needed and got out, no one seemed weird really, some had masks on.. I just got over a cold/flu situation that lasted about 5 days, what did I do? Whatever a grown individual would do and take care of themselves.. I'm not feeling it yet.. I live in Illinois, maybe I'm just not seeing it? I don't know I could be blind to all your guys and gals doom stories of death and pink floyd the wall to you all.. Until I see it MANY here will eat straight puke when they see the working class man/woman go back to work after Easter.

A hardware store could be considered essential. They usually carry plumbing supplies and electrical supplies. They often carry cleaning supplies and gas cans and parts to repair stuff around the house. Snowshovels and brooms are needed too, in case the wife breaks the broom over the husbands head because he is driving her crazy. How about the paint to paint the room that the wife just had to have fixed since her husband is off of work? See, who determines what stores are necessary, in this state it is the female governor, in other states the governors wives tell them what stores need to be open too.

It means I still work, and have to commute, while everyone stays at home (I work in one of those 'essential industry' jobs).

I was hoping to just lol around the house in my slippers with a gin & tonic.

Honestly, (peaceful) but loud protests in the face of stay-at-home orders might get you heard. And riding your tank down Penn Ave might get heads turning quickest. I'm assuming you're being facetious, though, lol.

But is it "essential" that you need to "fix things around the house" or "change lightbulbs" of all things when under a "Stay at Home" order?

That's the question...

I am still working, but can definitely see a negative effect on business. I work in residential service, I am wearing gloves shoe booties and a mask, and dealing with clients afraid of getting sick, on top of the economic downturn. It’s allot more difficult to negotiate deal with my face covered up for example smiling etc. depending on how many more cases are declared in my area I may be taking a hiatus, whether or not my employer changes buisness practices or not. It’s still buisness as usual but we have closed restaurants etc. tampa and st Pete are shelter in place st Pete, you can get arrested and fined charged with a misdemeanor if you violate. So ya not much longer now, but I can attest buisness is bad and I am dealing with the fear of getting sick and a fear of spending money.

Broken water faucet. Yeah, pretty essential.
Broken toilet. Yup.

Things break. Things that need fixing.
