Tropical Storm Karen formed this morning east of Tobago. A tropical storm warning is in effect for Grenada, Trinadad and Tobago. A tropical storm watch is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Tropical storm warnings for the South Windward Islands and Tropical Storm watches for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico later today.

Currently Karen is a minimum Tropical Storm with sustained winds of 40 mph, pressure of 1005mb, and moving WNW 9mph.

Karen is expected to move NW, then turn more north toward the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The computer models are in good agreement with this track, however when north of Puerto Rico there is much uncertainty. Both the European and GFS(American) models suggest Karen will then turn west toward the Bahamas, Cuba, and the Southeast US at the end of the month and early October.

Karen is a long way out but could potentially threaten the recovery and rebuilding efforts in the Bahamas and then the Southeast US as a hurricane.

For the latest updates and watches and warnings, refer to the National Hurricane Center.

Here are the current 'Spaghetti Models' plot. Even the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast could potentially be hit.

This storm just got a reverse mullet cut, bad highlights, and she wants to speak to your damn manager.

Watch out people, this hurricane is going to be a total b***h.

Karen does not look as good as she did earlier in the morning, however signficant strengthening is not expected until the storm is north of Puerto Rico.

Tropical storm watches have now been issued for the British and US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

I apologize, I didnt mean to trivialize this subject especially for the people of Puerto RIco and the Virgin Islands who have suffered so badly with these storms.
I take hurricanes seriously.
This is a late season storm. That is the usual area for development this time of year.
Hoping for the best for the islands.
It looks so far like it will miss the east coast.

Who names these storms. We need to have a chat with them. This is like free advertising.
Naming a storm Karen is just asking for it to come over and speak to everyones manager.

We should name the storm clown world.
