And of course you point out a number of social problems that work as catalysts for vioilent behavior. In other countries it could be that the family unit is stronger and the religious culture as well. You say

Look right there for the problem. A culture of hate, a culture of supremacy.

Absolutely. And add to that one of the reasons we have a culture of hate as we do is the culture of violence in the video games. A person who sits alone so much of the time playing these games , alone, has not developed a consciousness that intercts with our wider culture and that is part of the problem.
Part of that problem is that in those video games the player feels superior because they are always beating the game. If the didn't they would try harder and harder to be superior to the game. If they didn't they wouldn't play it

I grew up during the arcade era and still a casual player of games. Yes, I like FPS games with gratuitous violence.

I don't think the games by themselves are all that bad. However, I do think they are a contributor.

It is a combination of:

1) Violent images in games, music, and movies where faceless people are gunned down wantonly...
2) Mental illness enhanced by psychotropic drugs
3) Media reporting and hysterical coverage creating copy cats
4) Broken homes and families
5) Easy access to firearms. I support 2nd and don't want further restrictions, but let's be honest about access to firearms being a huge factor

I agree, all pieces of the puzzle. And each shooter is probably a somewhat unique puzzle.

Yeah I think that horror and gore movies are far more psychologically impacting. At least from my own experience.

As a kid I remember seeing the original miniseries "It", and it spooked me for years.
I still might be a little spooked by "It" to this day, decades later.

I never got into the "Gore-Torture Porn" films like SAW, Hostel, House of 1000 Corpses, Human Centipede, Grotesque, or any of this disgusting filth. I do not want to watch them, I have no interest in this putrid vomit, and I think anyone who is into these types of films has a morbid and macabre mentality.

These are the people we need to be marking as red flags, if we're going to start building "at risk categories".
Also people that watch Forensic Files and read books on serial killers - they need to be red flagged too.

Why anyone would want to sit and fill their mind with murder, death, corpses, gore, etc all day for years on end - I'll never understand. But I think people like this are the most likely to commit brutal murders simply because that's all they think about - and they STUDY it as if they are looking for ways to beat the system and avoid getting caught.

If you or anyone is way into this stuff and are offended that I think you're scary, well I'm sorry but I don't trust you and I wouldn't be comfortable being around you privately unless I was armed and on guard at all times.

So you are saying that you think Trump was BSing us? That all the Republicans who echoed him were trying to sidestep other issues?

Yet those things exist. They exist because people want to watch them. Think of Roman gladiators.
Some people are trash and it's always been that way and will likely continue to be that way.

Trying to lay the blame on video games or guns or whatever is absolutely a complete waste of time.

I suppose video games being very realistic can have an effect on SOME kids, but again, they shouldnt be playing those games and its up to PARENTS to control that. Easier said than done yes, but not impossible.
Stop giving in to tech like its your job. Get out. Do stuff.

For sure. But when parents don't supervise and kids don't go outside, these games can cause damage. Not to all kids, to all players but some. And some is enough

Yeah it was a deflection to attempt to change the narrative, which is ok.

Now look at my little rant on gore porn films / tv death cultists.
Or whatever you wanna call them lol.

I said that "if" we are to categorize people, they are red flags in my mind.

But I still don't think we should even flag those people despite that I get very negative vibes from them. It just simply is not an effective way of predicting crime - because in reality ANYONE could be the next big killer. Ever seen that flick called Serial Mom? It makes a good point - virtually anyone could be the killer.

So I honestly think we should worry more about teaching our kids how to respect others and be responsible while also doing our best to protect the Liberties of all people.

Are some of the games vs the movies that different?

From my perspective, the games might be worse due to the fact the player is creating the scenarios, or acting them out.

Not really. It's all just media.
None of it actually leads someone to kill - there were plenty of murders before any of this stuff even existed.

Dunno why I linked the video.
Just seems like it fits in this thread... lol

Outlaw for Atari was my very first shooting game.
Two dudes faced off to a dual.
Sometimes there was a wagon between the two of you for cover, others it was an open area and you needed to be the quickest shot.

Lol. You can't make this shyte up.
In the 90's it was "gangsta" rap that was responsible for crime and murders, now it's video games.
LOL.
I live in a country, where most kids would rather play Fortnite in their room rather than play outside. But we don't have mass shootings nor mass stabbings. In fact, the crime rate is so low that its laughable compared to USA.
Nope.
Its not the video games.

Do you think gangsta rap has not influenced a segment of society..I do. I don't like censorship though, so not much you can do, just accept that it is, what it is.
