This is not a spoof or a drill -- this is a genuinely weird-looking form on the asteroid that a US probe just arrived at. I find it extremely interesting.

Whatever it turns out to be, and a natural explanation may well present itself, I hope the openness of the NASA team encourages folks to accept that there isn't any over-arching pre-release alien evidence coverup in force. This would never have gotten out, in that case.

There's a video of Bennu's complete rotation in which this wierdnik appears prominently as something jutting out from the surface.

What is the scale?

Is it an old set of night vision binoculars (perfectly natural, btw) or an old plasma scavenging space cruiser?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Technically by metallurgical composition your car is a rock.

Doesn't mean it is one.

If you look close at the bottom left side of the object, it looks like a head with eyes. Almost like a turtle head.

Or it closely resembles Johnny Five's head.

The whole asteroid is about 500m in diameter so the object isnt huge judging from the edge curvature shown.

That looks like someone else landed a probe on that thing

Here is another 'video', this one seems a bit clearer and slower.

I thought it was narrow under the top, but I think that is just shadows.
If its a probe, who or what is listening to its data output ?

Here it is rotated 180 degrees for a better perspective.

That object(s) doesn't look like a natural formation. It is probably an optical illusion...It looks like a sheet of material covering.

Doh? Pretty squarish rock, with a smaller squarish rock shape on it with an even smaller square shape on top of that ... though seemingly rocky in demeanor, it IS odd!

As far as

hope the openness of the NASA team encourages folks to accept that there isn't any over-arching pre-release alien evidence coverup in force. This would never have gotten out, in that case.

whelp, if we're bein' realz, of COURSE there are safeguards in place to keep potentially panic inducing info hush-hush, should any exist... any responsible government would have such measures in place at the very least for "national security" reasons.

I'd love to think the exploration of our universe is open and free to all ... and know most of it is just that ... but if something truly paradigm shattering, terrifying or stock market crashing were found, then it's your contention "they" wouldn't attempt to close down tight? Really? Hmmmm ...

The video shows many perturbations on the asteroid, the one in the op is just the largest. I'm guessing it's just a big asteroid zit.

It's interesting until viewed from the side and then it seems obvious its just a rock or a aggregate of rocks.
