general bluetooth question

to all bluetooth users.

i just connected/paired my smartwatch to my phone.

so if i leave my phone and walk out of range and my bluetooth disconnects when i come back in range with the watch connect with the phone again?
im sure most devices work the same.

i suppose i could just leave the phone and walk out of range but i want to know what will happen first

If you leave your phone and still have the watch paired, then walk out of range, the watch will blow up and take off half your arm.

It's like those things around prisoners necks in the beginning of The Running Man.

Every Bluetooth device I have works that way.

youre saying that when i get back in range it should pair right back up

am i reading correctly that bluetooth has a range of about 100 meters?

Bluetooth is radio, just like WiFi, and is in the same 2.4GHz frequency band. It has similar range under similar circumstances.

And once you have paired a device, it should be able to reconnect whenever you come into range. The caveat is that most devices 'go dormant' to save power due to battery drain. So it depends on the config how frequently devices broadcast their presence (in comparison, 'listening' hardly takes any power).

Also, some devices won't take your arm off, but will empty your bank account instead. Many manufacturers prefer this technology.

Yeah...it stays paired when you return in range. Why? Because what to pair it with was chosen by you in settings. I use mine daily...and if going for more than a few mins, I take phone w me to never miss anything

Yes....it will autopair up saying something like "Phone 1 connected"...and average out of range distance for most is 20-30 feet.
