Awww, I'm sorry you won't be able to be with your Son and that he is having such a hard time dealing with it. Bribe him if you have to. Hey, whatever works right? Hugs!

My sister is having a thing but I have a cold so I'm staying home. She said take some medicine and see how I feel but I really don't want to go anyway, even if I wasn't sick. It would just be me sitting by myself bored as hell while being ignored so screw it. Nobody really wants me around anyway.

This will be the first Thanksgiving that I won’t be able to spend with my son as I have to work. Luckily, my sister is actually off (which is rare), so she said she’d take him to his paternal grandparents for me, only now he is saying he
doesnt want to go if I’m not there

I’m really stressed about it. I’ll probably have to bribe him.

I’m not sad about not going there as it’s my exs’ family, I just wish I didn’t have to deal with so much backlash all the time.

Sometimes those blended families and ex's and ex in laws can make the holidays extra special right. Going to see family with teen agers under normal conditions can be stressful, after 10 years of blended families ex's and ex in laws it can be downright exhausting. Just remember the kids didnt ask for none of it. Id always listen to their issues and objections, but still stress they have to go.

I could hang with friends or go to the pub and hang. I have money but not a lot. Only until next week... no big deal. Got taters and stuffing. May get a turkey breast but taint no big thing!

It is all good. Talked to my half sister last night. The other texted me but swapped SIM card. D’oh!

Thanks for the ideas! Have a wonderful T-day muzzle!!

Thanks. I'll do that if I can peel myself away from Netflix. I've been watching American Horror Story-Freak Show.

Update!

T-day stuff was cheap and got a frozen turkey breast, celery, onions, fresh sage, butter, half and half, stock, carrots, and corn bread stuffing mix, all for about 45 dollars! Went to the bar, had a few, then bought some good beer at the beer store and have enough money to last the week. Beer?? Well,...

May have to go cold turkey (groan!!
), but hey, a little sobriety is worth it every now and then!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! May your day be blessed! (And the family fights manageable!!)

Making mashed potatoes tonight and stuffing broth (spices are always better the next day anyway! And can make until it has to cook and let sit).

Surprised how cheap everything thing turned out to be! I guess I always buy.several cheeses and bottles of wine which add up real quick like! No dessert, no cheese, no wine, and just me wanting basics = cheap! Beer is good food. Add in leftover pesto pasta, well d@mn, eating good, for days, and low cost!

Again, Happy Thanksgiving!! Ya’ll!

In fact, I think I'll open one of each, the stout, the lager and the bitter...

And give them all to my VERY helpful neighbour.

I just took a call from my partner/wife to be (etc etc). This was after 6 missed calls but I was busy and I didn't see them.

HER: "I'm locked out again"

ME: "Ha, as if you did it agian, come get the spares from me at work"

HER: "I can't, I've locked the house keys AND car keys in the car"

ME: "Ha, how clumsy!"

HER: "Don't laugh, it's been an hour and the boy (2 yrs) is locked in the car too"

ME: "Oh FFS, you're going to have to call a locksmith"

Silence for 10 minutes. Phone goes again.

HER: "It's ok I've sorted it"

ME: "That was quick for a locksmith, you tell him the boy was locked inside?"

HER: "No, next door neighbour found your sledgehammer in the shed so we smashed the back door right in and got the spares"

Every story has a happy ending... and the price of a new door

Thought my woes would make someone smile.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

The days of the infamous "The Gravy Wars" is over, the time of red hot Cranberries in the stuffing have passed into a faint memory. Altho the guilty parties who couldn't wait for everyone to sit down at the table an screamingly spit them across the room know who they are.
Times past of the inflatable T-rex costume making an appearance as well.
I ask you, who didn't want to see a pole dancing T-Rex?
Dino-Porn with your Pumpkin pie anyone?

Now that everyone is older we're left with arguing over the merits of different craft beers an the non-smokers accepting that the real family gathering (and family gossip) will be held outside while we feed the shameless suburban Turkeys and Deer that give 0-eff's a bunch of loud mouths have congregated in their feeding spot.

The "New" brawls will be centered on "STOP giving the Deer all the smoked almonds!!!" and the health debates of "why wildlife can't-shouldn't be treated to a few cookies".
Sadly we as a family are just not as much fun as we used to be.
We've lost our collective ridiculousness.

On the bright side tonight the possum will get some turkey and stuffing sent home for me.
The outdoor feral will have some warmed up turkey & gravy to tide her over in the freezing weather.
And Thank Goodness to the Brits!!! who extol the virtues of hot water bottles so now the little hairball get's "the warms" tucked into her blankets!!!

Happy Holiday!!!
