Any other fans of the greatest ever band here on ATS?

This band were once effectively blacklisted by the NME while at the same time having their Captain Tim Smith compared to Mozart and Beethoven.

Their seventh album, Sing to God got scathing reviews back when it was released in 1996. Vox rated it 0/10. Only for it to be praised as a masterpiece years later in retrospect reviews.

This band is Marmite.

I don't like marmite. 1:42 on the first vid was plenty thank you.

Haha
Well, props to you for making it that far.
With these guys it's either an instant love or an instant disgust.

One of their less abrasive tracks.
Absolutely beautiful.

They're too zig-zaggy and angular for my tastes.

In what mood do you listen to them? Can't hum along, sing to them, tap feet or dance to them!

Fair play to you and there's no point slagging someone's music tastes. You're probably like me and have to listen to most of your music alone in the car to avoid complaints lol.

Lol
Any mood! All the moods!
I can do all those things to their music and then some.
I tend to stick them on where ever, no matter who's about and just grin at the complaints.

Did you give the last vid I posted a go?

I was thoroughly dissuaded by the first one so no thank you very much.

One of my best mates is like that with Frank Zappa and Waits. You two would either hit it off or cancel each other out and implode.

Haha
Does he love Nick Cave too?
Wouldn't be the first implosion I've helped cause...

I listen to Cave, Dirty Three and Warren Ellis nearly every week. Geniuses! Ellis plays violin like it's a heart breaking.

No set genres on my end. Rap, rock, hip hop, mixtapes, metal, soul and whatever the F they call music by guys like Bahamas and Still Corners. A moody guy needs a lot of mood music lol.

I checked them out after you commented in The Residents thread, that they're inspired by The Residents. I'm not sold yet, but they're certainly interesting. I posted this one in Nef's British Music Thread. I can hear it's inspired by some of The Residents' early works.

Well that's great that you're spreading the word about Cardiacs even though you're not sold yet.
Made my heart go all squishy.

Another more accessible track.
Genius mellotron arrangements on this one.
