The op-ed was unusually published as an anonymous submission by the New York Times, which described the author as “a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure”.

Wow, but I feel like saying, "who didn't know that"?
And this, folks, is the reason Kelly, Maddox, Sessions, and others haven't resigned. They remain to continue to try and keep our country out of peril.
Ali Watkins in connection with an investigation into alleged leaks of information regarding the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's (SSCI) probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The metadata, from Watkins' Verizon and Google accounts, spanned years, dating back to when she was a college student. Watkins was informed of the seizure in a letter from the Justice Department.
The records were seized as evidence in the case of James Wolfe, former director of security for the SSCI, who is alleged to have leaked classified information provided by the government to the committee to Watkins and other reporters. Wolfe's indictment alleges that Watkins and Wolfe had a romantic relationship dating back to 2013, when Watkins was a college student and intern with a news organization in Washington. Watkins worked at Buzzfeed and Politico before join

Yed many of us did know that the deep state was real and was actively trying to sabotage trump.
It was the people who dislike trump that said this wasnt true.,
Now those same people say of course its true, and its a good thing.

There have been lots of rumors on multiple fronts about a conspiracy within the Whitehouse itself, to thwart the Trump administration, and all that they stand for.
Now, there is an admission of guilt from an insider, posted in no other less reputable place than the prestigious New York Times :
www.nytimes.com...
They give an unusual reason (according even to their own internal policy) which they decide to justify with the following statement:
"The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process..."
So, this is an anonymous essay, in which the NYT believes in enough to publish against their policy.
Perhaps this sheds a lot of light into multiple situations, concerning operations within the Whitehouse, and within the press simultaneously.
I recommend this as a 'must read'.

Good God. They are not the deep state, there is no stupid deep state, and the article states clearly they are not the idiotic 'deep state'. The NYT's knows the identity of the writer. If you read it you would realize that.

I seriously doubt they will agree when that same stain acts against an admin of their choosing. I will not agree either, this is the most damaging information to ever be confirmed about our Democracy or lack of. I would be equally as outraged if a Democrat President was similarly treated

Agreed.
And lets not be mistaken, this isnt a whistleblower. This isnt someone saying there are crimes being committed, and he is telling the proper authorities or media to stop them. That would be fine.
This is someone who claims trump is amoral, that he has sunk all of us with this amorality, and he (or she) and their cohorts are staging a coup inside the administration because they subjectively find trump immoral and dont like his policies.
And yet people cheer for this, oblivious to the fact that this sae tactic will be used against people they like on the otehr side.
