So you have innuendo that money was funneled to the NRA to create advertising?

Again, how is Trump actually receiving money?

So you have unnamed sources of an investigation. So? When are charges going to be filed, and warrants going to be served? If there was criminal activity. the NRA would have been raided by the FBI already.

All you have is a selective leaked narrative there might have been an investigation of a person tied to the NRA. Sad.

Apparently English is not your first language. I have not stated that Russia funneled money to the NRA. There is at least one Russian who is a member and donor. It is plausible that Russia would funnel money to them because it would help create political chaos in the United States.

Again, how is Trump actually receiving money?

Through "loans" from Deutsche Bank and over-priced real estate purchases. This has been public knowledge for a while now, and is the reason Trump refuses to publish his tax returns.

So you have unnamed sources of an investigation.

I am not the one claiming that there is an FBI investigation. On the contrary, I am skeptical of the claim made by the blogger. Investigating the NRA would be politically dangerous, and the current director would not approve of it anyway... unless he has a great deal of integrity. Time will tell.

This is not Russia. The FBI does not suddenly raid people. Investigations take time.

And all you can do is create strawmen to deflect from the topic in the hopes of discrediting the story. If the blog is wrong and there is no investigation, there should be. The NRA has caused enough conflict and death in this country.

Again, this is the topic of this thread from the opening post...

To summarize NPR translated Twitter messages from Alexander Torshin where apparently he talked about his connection to the NRA. And, we should all remember the story about how Russian money was funneled through that organization.

And

www.npr.org...

A prominent Kremlin-linked Russian politician has methodically cultivated ties with leaders of the National Rifle Association and documented efforts in real time over six years to leverage those connections and gain deeper access into American politics

The evidence is not there, so you have to go off topic....

Context?

They have to get evidence for a warrant? That takes time?

Here is the evidence for Torshin's involvement again:

As for the alleged investigation, unlike you, I am withholding judgement until there is further evidence.

Yes, the FBI conducts raids, sometimes after years of patient investigation. They got special clearance to raid Manafort the way did because he is a clear flight risk.

If there was evidence to get a search warrant, don’t you think Mueller would love to embarrass the NRA or Trump with a raid?

Flight risk? Mueller brought charges against individuals that will never be extradited to the USA?

There is no risk the White House will destroy records? Wipe a server clean? Like with a cloth? That Hillary.

Embarrassing people is not the purpose of the investigation. If the money laundering trail leads to the NRA, Mueller will certainly investigate. There will be no need for a raid. Manafort's digs were raided because he probably had bearer bonds in his safe to assist his flight. His emails were already under surveillance.

It's the fact that the NRA facilitated a foreign national spying on our electoral system. That's what worries me. Aren't they supposed to be patriotic? Looking after the inalienable rights of American citizens?

If you don’t understand the investigation is based on a political whichunt using a lawyer as point who has had major cases thrown out, then you are blind.

Mueller’s team is based on thise that fight dirty.

Moving the goal post? I thought it was the individual that help get Trump elected?

You are the one who has kept trying to move the goalposts. No-one ever said that one Russian NRA member got Trump elected. no-one ever said that the NRA gave money to Trump. A blogger alleges that Russia funneled money to the NRA to assist in the campaign, but I have said several times I don't consider the blog reliable. The same blog also claims the FBI is investigating the NRA, and I have explained why I doubt that is true.

Now you are creating yet another strawman. If the Russians wanted to tamper with the actual polling process, they would need human intelligence to see how it works. The NRA may have facilitated that. Now we need to wonder how many such spies they have sent... totally legally, by the way.

Ironically, the openness of our system has always been easy to exploit. As for the possibility of Russia sending laundered funds to the NRA, it would be in keeping with the strategy they have adopted elsewhere: they reach out to fringe groups and encourage them to destabilize rival governments. They loaned money to the National Front in France, and fund both Marxists and nationalist groups in Germany. So far those countries have proved stable, but they scored victories in Britain (Brexi) and Greece. For further reading:

Let’s think of the NPR article on the NRA?
In the context of a serious investigation, not a political hit piece?

Why would anyone serious about an investigation leak the details of an active investigation.

So, is the investigation active or not?

If the investigation is no longer active and the allegations of the NPR piece are correct, why were charges never filed?

The leak was about trying to embarrass and politically attack the NRA with nothing more than innuendo, and you fell for it.

Why not leak what the investigation concluded? The leak was only to spin a narrative.

Why do you keep asking stupid questions? I said that I do not necessarily believe the blog. I have made an argument why Russia might want to support the NRA, and explained why it is unlikely there ever will be charges.

And there are powerful people that want the NRA gone? Is that false? If there was legal and credible evidence of NRA criminal activity, then charges would be filled.

What are you talking about in the context of the topic of this thread?

Do you need to start your own thread?

Let’s think of the NPR article on the NRA?

Sure! Let's keep spinning our wheels.

In the context of a serious investigation, not a political hit piece?

Sometimes investigations are intended to be political. That is why Trump is tantrumming because the Justice Department has not charged Hillary Clinton with anything.

Why would anyone serious about an investigation leak the details of an active investigation.

To force a move by the people being investigated. It is a common tactic. Let the perps know they are about to be busted and see if they try to flee. It can lead the investigators up the chain of command if a panicked "foot soldier" contacts his boss. It's often used in espionage cases... which technically, this is.

So, is the investigation active or not?

As I keep having to remind you, I have no idea whether there is an investigation or not. Why are you so sure there isn't one?

If the investigation is no longer active and the allegations of the NPR piece are correct, why were charges never filed?

Investigations take time. If there is an investigation, it could be years before charges are filed. America isn't like your country, where the charges are made up after the arrest.

The leak was about trying to embarrass and politically attack the NRA with nothing more than innuendo, and you fell for it.

What part of "I don't necessarily believe the blog" are you not understanding? I certainly did not "fall for it." On the other habd, why do you keep ignoring the main thrust of the article? A Russian oligarch close to Putin boasted about meeting Trump at an NRA meeting. (Just in case the page rolls over: )

Why not leak what the investigation concluded?

Because if there is an investigation, it would be ongoing. There would be no conclusion yet.

The leak was only to spin a narrative.

If you believe there is a leak, you must believe there is really an investigation. You fell for it.
