Facebook users have encouraged others to share the video to try to help catch the people involved

You would think they would capture the faces of the abusers only and send that out if that was truly the motive for sharing.

Well, they succeeded. They also proved beyond a shadow of a doubt just how little critical thinking takes place in this country.

They also proved the depths of depravity and stupidity in this country!

Frankly, I'd have to wonder just how long before "they", whoever "they" are, will use this and other such incidences to demand an end to anonymity on the net. In fact, they may move to require all users acquire, i.e., sign up for and be issued an official (government issued) digital I.D. necessary to access the internet.

Let me clue you into a fact. If an intelligence agency is involved, there is no anonymity on the net. If you ever pop up on any kind of serious radar, they can look up your every orifice with a microscope. In thirty days they will know everything about you, whether or not you sleep around and with who, what's your favorite condom, or what your favorite ice cream is, what kind shirts you ware, how often you wash them, what kind of soap use, where do you get it, and you will never know. On the commercial side we do it now, it's called geofencing. And the alphabet agency's have a lot more power. Every email, phone call, text, fax, and yes your web browser history is stored for recall. Yes that damned web browser, it knows your every thought. Ask Edward Snowden.

How has FB not nuked the video?

I have an image, a rather blasphemous image, that is autofiltered out every time I try to post it in private groups. FB has nuked the image as spam, and it will not post. From my account, or from other peoples account.

I know FB can nuke images. So why haven't they done so here?

Is it still illegal to watch the fake porn, or to have fake porn in your posession?

If it shows what looks like children, yes.

Shouldn't it be necessary to have a "victim" for everything defined as a "crime".

From my understanding, in cases like this they are considered potential victims, like when someone says it's OK to kill someone. They didn't do it but they are promoting the idea.

"Rapist and Pedophiles should be tossed in an arena as their victims pummel them with spears, bullets and the like, from above! "

So you believe in cruel and unusual punishment. How about disembowelment ? The English were masters of this kind of punishment.

Yes. I support disemboweling child molesters. If you can come up with any more inhumane methods, I'd probably support those, too.

Damn straight.

Am I wrong for that feeling? Probably. But I don't care.

All people needed is a snapshot of the guys face I have not seen the video but sharing which is child abuse is not going to help.

That's what I was thinking, if it's a specific video that is being shared, don't all the shares point to the same video? They just have to delete that video to stop all the shares.

If people download it and upload it again Facebook can't do a thing until they are warned about it, but with one shared video it should be easy.

The only problem I have with that is the same I have with death penalty, just because someone was convicted it doesn't mean they were really guilty.

First of all i hope they catch the bastard and throw him to Bubba in prison for "entertainment". Second of all the timing of this incident seems to coincide with the horrific and despicable pic that i saw on Infinity. Strange coincidence and no i didn't save it and it had nothing to do with the Facebook video. This despicable video would have drown out everything else pretty quickly. I wish we could just kill those bastards and be done with it. When someone distributes or participates in these vile and heinous acts they deserve a bullet and worse. Zero Tolerance!

I bet there would be no shortage of volunteers.
I fully support Vigilantes in these cases. The world needs someone like the Punisher.

If there was ever a case study for those folks who say there are some lines our realistic portrayals of violence and sex acts should not cross to point to, I would think this is it. This is how desensitized people have seemingly become that they can't comprehend that what's on their video or screen cap is an actual kid actually being raped.

I think this is an excellent case study into how effective simple propaganda techniques can be.

We all know about the various "Awareness" campaigns around the country and on the internet. Usually, it's some horrible situation that requires everyone's "awareness", coupled with some awful images or video snippets, and boom! Social media campaign and mass sharing.

Someone thought this was a good way to get their "lulz". Well, they succeeded. They also proved beyond a shadow of a doubt just how little critical thinking takes place in this country.

You can also see this with other warnings going around Facebook - another category of "I don't watch this" is animal abuse - activists share videos of people who have filmed themselves brutally harming and/or killing animals. Sometimes they share the person's name and other relevant details.

I do want these people found but the place to send the videos and photos and evidence is NOT social media, but send to the authorities in the relevant area.

Social media is new to us - we still haven't learned how to deal with it. Because it's changing rapidly, it's going to take some time for us to catch up on the realities of how we want it to integrate with our society.

...same thing happened with phones.

I'm not sure. I think it's a video and perhaps it's being shared with a different name or perhaps this was before FB caught wind of it. Though, you do have me thinking if it really is something that's going on, on a large scale or was it secluded to just a small chain of people.

I do see some 'pornography' flying under the radar on FB often, mostly on cousins pages and almost all of the time from a FB site outside of the country like say Brazil with nude models and the like. Not really sure how some get past it and some dont. I would imagine the people that link to those FB sites don't readily tell on them.
